I think MLD must be mistaken though I’ve just bought this Nux pedal. The meat of a bass guitar tone is between 60Hz to 1KHz. Anything below 40Hz is just rumble and frantic speaker cone excursions muddying up everything. High Pass Filter is what you need at the input so that useless low freqs are stopped at the door. Any later and the preamp is just wasting bandwidth processing infrasonic and very low part of the signal that does not matter. That’s how you get nice round well defined tones.

Decent price point for a good bass preamp with some nice features.

I am really digging this Nux Melvin Lee Bass Preamp + Di. Was looking for a pre-amp with a light-duty drive. This definitely has a nice simple drive. I love that you can go in and change the IR settings on your computer and select the head and cab sims that work for you. My preference is the MLD amp combined with the SV810 cabinet. Another great feature is the ability to turn the cab/amp sim on or off to your amp output and the XLR output. I like engaged for my in-ears and to house XLR output and OFF to my stage amp. There have been some negative comments about the software but they have since updated the firmware to V4 and I had no problem.

According to www.nuxefx.com/melvin-lee-davis.html the bass EQ point is 40hz not 32hz that Melvin keeps saying was important to him. Same story with the treble EQ point which is 10000khz not 8000khz that Melvin mentions.

Ridicoulus. Melvin talks about tcelectronic speakers but the pedal does not simulate them. Great!

Boosting at 32Hz ? I normally run a HPF at 40Hz to cut those freqs out.

Sad ლ(◕ω◕ლ) Sub bass frequencies are where it's at. I rock a cab with two 10"s and one 18". If you are talking about cutting the lows on a guitar signal keep doing what you're doing sir- it makes a tiny bit more room for when the bass drops and can eliminate pickup, preamp, cable or peddle hum.

Melvin plays 7 string and can afford excellent sound engender in big arenas. Imager with you. Below 40Hz is deadly for small venues.

IR for a TC cab is like IR for a PA setup.. just doesn't make any sense

NUX offers edit software to load your own 3rd party IRs.

Compression would have been more useful than drive

Would rather a separate compressor pedal. I have this preamp and it's an amazing bit of kit that punches above it's price point.
