It took John Dehlin ten months to finally grow tired of the stand-up comic wannabe he made the mistake of hiring as his co-host but her blatant disrespect of him and their guest on air was clearly the final straw. This would be her last episode as a co-host on Mormon Stories.
If you loathe NuanceHoe as much as I do, you’ll really enjoy this one. It has been my observation and experience that NuanceHoe grossly lacks integrity and courage and is incapable of having a conversation with a believing Mormon without having a meltdown. Somehow the news that Mormonism is homophobic had escaped her until this interview.
This is footage taken from a five hour long interview that shows NuanceHoe growing more and more frustrated until she snapped and had to shove her hand into her mouth and bite it (literally) to prevent herself from completely losing her shit.
Enjoy.
P.S. For what it’s worth, like her own parents, I too like Rod Meldrum more than NuanceHoe. 😒
P.P.S. If you love the hoe, good news! She has announced that you can now pay money to watch her on Patreon where you can expect, in her words, “bigger, funnier, hoe-ier things from here on out.” 🤮

The non NNN story is that she chose to leave, that frequency and length of broadcasts were getting to affect her personal /family life, and the hours with Meldrum just tipped the balance to recognise this was not the context for her work, she likes John, still points people to his channel, appreciates what she gained from the experience etc. Only this guy is saying any different

Mike, this seems to be more about whatever issue you have with her more than this exchange with Meldrum. Your issues with Carah are your own, but if you are going to bring the vindictiveness of it public, either air it out, or bury it. This side bar angst doesn't help.

NNN, I listened because you said there was a meltdown and that she was fired. First, there wasn't a meltdown. She was the most passionate in the room for sure. She was passionate and frustrated but there was no meltdown as you said. Also John Dehlin gave her a nice farewell and seemed surprised she was leaving, so she didn't get fire fired or allowed to resign. You are just not accurate here. It seems you have a personal issue with her. That's the only way to make sense of your post. Thx for the highlights, saved me time. Cara did well.

Carah is extremely intelligent and insightful. Unfortunately, I think she's still also emotionally raw as a result of leaving the LDS faith. In my opinion, she's still coping with the trauma of discovering the religion of her childhood isn't what she thought it was. She is still working through her consequent anger and bitterness. Hey NNN! Keep being who you are! You’re about the only ex- Mormon on KZbin who doesn’t act, talk or think like a Mormon. Your temple videos were extremely brave, intelligent and groundbreaking. IMO John D and Mormon stories have done little to actually expose the lies of the Mormon church like you have. Nor has his KZbin channel helped many ex Mormons to discover a real living Christ. I personally think that atheism and Mormonism go hand in hand. Both require a similar mind set of beliefs and values. Mormon Stories only works to encourage that small Mormon mind set. IMO Mormon stories doesn’t encourage people to think outside the Mormon box. It only encourages people to stay stuck in the anger, lies and self righteous attitude the Mormon church breeds.

What about the many ways the church has helped people? It has helped millions upon millions of families choose the moral path of abstinence from drugs, alcohol, pre-marital sex, charitable service and devotion to living Christian principles. These alone have provided healthy, stable family environments for countless numbers of children. My family did not have to face alcoholism, drug addiction, neglectful and emotionally absent parents out seeking sexual misadventures etc… The church is also working in the poorest nations on earth building chapels, temples and schools to help strengthen the people’s spirits to a point where they are able lift themselves above the mire of poverty pandemic to their nations economic, educational and social systems. If anyone can do better, let them try, but in my eyes the church is doing great work in the world despite the bad press they get for these 1st world non issues. It might seem callous to say this, but the LGBTQ+ issue is a 1st world issue for people who have never experienced real world issues like crippling hunger, poverty, crime and disease etc. The church is only guilty of hurting people’s feelings. But feelings are always going to be hurt when going to church since a churches sole purpose is to turn people towards Christ. Turning to Christ must, and always will require a person turn away from non-Christian ideas and behaviour.

I had several anger issues during parts 1+2, I doubt I would have let him live if I would have been there during part 3 - and no one could judge me for that. He lives in his pink fluffy mormon fantasy world and everything that could make a dent in his beliefs gets twisted and scrubbed from truth until he's safe again with his Jewish native angels. That guy really has some big issues, unbelievable. It's a pity that she's broken but I think at least she burned her bridges to this artificial let's-safe-the-pedo-prophet-views of rod (and it seems her family). And she didn't kill anyone. But the interview wasn't supposed to be all about loving Carah and how witty, funny and smart she is or even what great arguments she can make. It wasn't supposed to be about her. We learned very little from these clips about why Meldrun believes as he does. Instead we learned about the kind of performer Carah was. Maybe the longer interview that includes John's questions is hopefully different and can give us some insight. To do a good interview, she really needs to put her performer ego aside, which she seems incapable of doing, so it's good she's found another forum that might be more appropriate for her to showcase herself. Mormon Stories is supposed to be listening and learning about different storied and viewpoints on Mormonism - not how loveable, smart and funny Carah can be.

I can understand any former Mormon getting a nervous breakdown during this interview. I couldn't even watch all of his nonsense. I congratulate John on staying calm and balanced, but can empathize with anyone who can't do the same. Therefore, I see no point in bashing either side. In the end, it is probably more related to Carah wanting to produce content in her own way, instead of being John's employee who of course has a different style (and interview length). KZbin's storage is big enough for both of them. If you like only one or the other, subscribe to only that channel. If you like both, subscribe to both. But stop bashing anyone. Reserve that for homophobe Dallin Oaks or Mr. Burns who couldn't even prophesy the pandemic.

So someone passionately trying to explain things and they aren’t getting through to the other is going to cause upset and a lack of ability to explain things or have information come through clearly. Carah's still a regular co-host whenever John Larsen is on Mormon Stories, and her ex-boss John Dehlin's joined her in her home for her own videos. They're still on good terms and work together every month when John Larsen joins them to rant about the immoral nonsense in the Bible, etc. Unfortunately, Carah ultimately had a panic attack over that last guest's extreme levels of homophobia, and she had to ask herself if her job was worth that while she was also a wife and mother. John asked what would keep her on staff, she cited a number that would make her feel panic attacks were being compensated, he couldn't pay it, so now she comes back once a month and he occasionally joins her on her channel instead. You don't need to be surprised by homophobia to be distressed by it. It's not remotely surprising in a cult like Mormonism, but it's still disgusting and still deadly. Panic attacks happen, and if Carah couldn't physically have these conversations with anti-gay apologists, then her desire to withdraw and only come back to talk about the Bible, etc. was for the best. As for respecting John Dehlin or his guests, that's a subjective matter. Like honor or worthiness, respect means whatever the speaker thinks it means. In any case, whatever kind of respect Carah has for John and he for her, it's enough that they're still regularly partnering with each other and John Larsen as well. That being said, I'm not aware of an anti-gay apologists who deserve respect in any significant sense.

This was so frustrating to watch because she really did ask some great questions, but then she wouldn't let him answer! A cardinal rule of exit counseling or really any kind of communication with someone in a high demand group is to ask a question and then wait, for the answer, even if the person is slow to answer or isn't giving what you think is the "right answer", let them process and think it through before you jump in. By constantly interrupting and talking over him and not letting him answer her questions, she made the show all about herself. That said, it is rarely a good idea for someone to leave a group like this and then jump right in as she has. Didn't she jump right into doing Mormon Stories right after leaving or did I get that wrong? She really needs to take some time out to reflect and process her own experience before she tries to help anyone else, but I see she is just going on with her own thing elsewhere. That's a recipe for a breakdown, so I'm not surprised. Heal thyself, NuanceHoe.

Rod is such a frustrating person, as he is completely shut off to the truth, so I cannot fault her for being frustrated talking to him.

I would love to see her on the atheist experience show. She brings up so many good points. Unfortunately Mormon Stories Podcast is a Mormon exMormon discussion. Not a Mormon take down.

I feel like there are a lot of assumptions in this video. That being said I think her going out on her own is good for her but I think whether Mormon or ex Mormon, is a brutal world and tough to keep at it. Many come and go and to make a living off this could be tough.

Love her questions and her addressing issues and the writing in the book that most is all hypothetical. She's made her point , great questions. I did not see a breakdown. I think the title of this post is more discrimination. Not a fan of meldrum now watching this post because he's gray about everything. It's all hypothetical he doesn't prove anything. Pointless. I find it funny after going to court for so many years and watching cases. There are many things that are truth in courts and what people say. Especially from way back then more than likely truths. The Mormons have a tendency to blame everything that goes wrong on Satan. By the way the word of wisdom was never a commandment, it says it in the doctrine and covenants and should not be keeping you from the blessings of the church including the temple. Drinking coffee was not a commandment. Words of wisdom are just words of wisdom You might want to do your homework on that. But you can drink beer and barley that's in the word of wisdom. I'm proud of her for standing up for what she believed. She should have been more respectful about letting him talk but when he talked he was so far left, it changed the subject. Kind of gaslighting if you ask me he had no good answers.

Mormonism is really good at training people to try and punish each other and get revenge. It's time to let go of that old training Noah.

I think Cara and John were a great team, but unfortunately angry mormons were spreading rumors about them. So I think she just used this opportunity to exit the show. Best luck of her.

Aren’t you on the same team as her? Why fight her for calling out speculative history? Seems sort of immature for a grown man to call names of a woman who is clearly just having a tough day further stressed by a man who is used to other women bowing before him? Let’s support women.

I like her input. Only thing I don’t love is her self-deprecating comments. She catches herself doing it sometimes and then overcompensates by bragging. She needs to chill, but she’s not a scumbag.
