I just wanted to share my experience with the Nube' system. My daughter and I traveled Japan this summer and were lucky enough to get hold of the Nube', both hammocks, the easy slings and carabiners for our 49 day trek across beautiful Japan (during the rainy season). We hung hambunk style (two hammocks under one tarp system) under the Nube' for 41 of those nights, and loved every minute of it! It took a bit to figure out how to hang both hammocks and the luggage rack into the screened in area, but by week two we had dialed in the hang of all three hammocks and we never got wet (except while hiking). The ease and light weight of the easy slings and the construction of the Nube' is of amazing materials and construction. I thought I may have been jealous of tourist that would be sleeping in beautiful hotels, but the opposite was true, we hated going indoors, where we got poor sleep, cost money , time, and took us away from the people and the country we were there to see. Love, love, love this system! When you can get your hands on one do!

Here is my constructive review: Watch all the videos! I missed a couple. I used it 4x's before I attached the gear storage. My fault. Now I see that they post a comment to watch six videos. Make sure you do that. This is a single wall system which equals a lot of condensation. If they make a liner for it in the future, I will buy it. I live in a rain forest but it snows in the winter. I slept in this system for weeks. No temp higher then 50F. You will get wet from the condensation. But not soaked. You "rub" up against the inside of the Nube while being around it and it has condensation on it. I like that you put the shelter, the Nube, up FIRST. So your hammock and sleeping gear stay dry. That is a huge bonus as most systems, whether it be a hammock or tent, has you adding the rain fly after your main shelter is set up. As for the "winter barrier" , it is misleading to a guy who lives in temps that hit moderate cold temps: -5 to -10F at the lowest. The winter barrier is good to about 30F. It is NOT insulated, and they never said it was, but i just assumed it was, my bad. Anything below freezing, you need an under quilt (if you can afford it). I used my military sleeping pad and a wool blanket and my -50F military bag and I was solid down to the single digits. Overall: I dig this setup! But it took a while of using it to get it to work for me. But i am new to this. Somebody who hammock camps will skip all my mistakes. And I dig that my purchase helped provide clean water to those in need. How many companies do that?

This looks like a great piece of kit. My only suggestion is a tension system on the hammock like the ENO. This allows you to stake anywhere and adjust the tension at the tarp.

I just watched every video on your channel. Simply brilliant product designs, and a wonderful social ethos. I hope you guys have great success in all your endeavors. Yet I have to ask a question that doesn't need an answer - why would somebody give any of these videos a thumbs down?
@Sierramadreresearch10 жыл бұрын
@ Supah Nunjah to be completely honest with you, the first set up of the Nubé can be a bit time consuming because we have 6 videos that we suggest you follow along with while you give it your first go. This way you can avoid potential damage that can occur if not set up properly. After that, it is pretty self explanatory and set up times get quicker and quicker as you set up and take down a couple times. I'd say total set up time is about 5 - 7 minutes.

Just finally pulled the trigger on this nube. I have great hammocks and a very nice Nemo tent. But just get tired of uneven ground and sliding off my sleeping pad. I do massive camping and adventure riding all over the place. I'm a member of one of the largest dual sport/ adventure motorcycle club in the country. So a review video will be made once it comes in the mail. No more sliding off my sleeping pad at night. I think I will eventually add the ninox hammock soon.

Your advertising is misleading. I have several hammocks from name brand manufactures and they have bug protection , weather protection and a nice dry spot for my gear , either under the hammock or inside with me. I have used them in some rain storms that were close to a class1 hurricane ( 75 mph winds ) and stayed nice and dry. Your idea is nice and you have combined the better parts of several manufactures. It is only a shelter not the hammock which is purchased separately or you have you own to use with it.

You will have to excuses me as I am not an expert at you tube. However I have several questions regarding your hammock... What are your top 5 selling points? If I store my bag under the hammock how can I fit an external sleeping bag under the hammock to keep me warm on really cold nights so it does not get compressed and become inefficient? It does not appear to come in camo colour??? Is the tarp fixed as shown and if so do I need a second tarp on top to cover strong winds and bad weather as well as being able to enjoy reasonably good weather when I can enjoy the view/vista from one side which is the joy of a hammock? I am not digging the one little tarp for sunny days idea. I need more info on how it works in all four seasons and why it would be better (unique selling points over the others) all year round? I am not getting it from your marketing?

I've been convinced to sell off my Eno set up, I really like your system as well as your cause.! The only question I have, does the insect sheild zip to itself so the hammock & insect shield can be set up without the Nubé fly?
@Sierramadreresearch10 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Reverend Jon The Nubé is a 3-in-1 system that does not come apart. It is more like a complete hammock tent that offers roomy protection with no need to take it apart. You can, however, roll up the Gear Stash and Insect Shield, and clip them back to use the Nubé for the Rain Protection only if you'd like.

@ George if you own a Nubé and are seeing any leaks please contact us at customerservice@sierramadreresearch.com and we will send you a tube of SilNet so that you can reseal! Pending your model it is possible that it would need to be resealed, but our newest model has seam tape applied from our factory and it is extremely robust. We saw the video from Shug and that he appeared to have some leaks but upon further investigation we discovered that it was condensation dripping from the ceiling. If you have seen another video showing this would you mind sharing it with us? We'd love to make sure we fix that problem! We are proud of the Nubé's ability to withstand harsh weather conditions and we stand by that as a company :)

Three hundred dollars is pretty steep, like ridiculously steep. When I can get a light/durable hammock for 50 bucks or less, a basic waterproof tarp from my garage or even the nylon ripstop version for 20 bucks and then tie some free hanging Paracord on my straps to act as water breaks so that's my hammock doesn't get wet. Ultimately I can buy every feature of this separately. A bug net, how about a sleeping bag to lay on for the cold, or a tight rope and d-ring to hang your bag and boot. This can probably all be under 200 bucks easily and that's with extra stuff. Not so sure how I feel about this item

Does this fit 11 foot hammocks/or 110.88" ridgeline? Also, if you were to order the winter barrier, does it still come with the bug screen? I take it you unzip the bug screen and then zip on the winter barrier, correct? Thanks.
@Sierramadreresearch10 жыл бұрын
Yes this product was made for our Pares Hammock which is ~11 ft in length. The Winter Barrier is an add on accessory, it fits on the outside of the Insect Shield. The Insect Shield is not removable, however, you can roll it up if you would like to use the Nubé as an open shelter. Let us know if you have anymore questions!

Thanks for the input. This is quite out of my price range currently, but I love the design features that you've added in, it's so unique and you seem to address many issues we hammock campers have. It gives me something to possibly look into and work for in the future. (This is DivaB over on the hammock forums). My son and I usually hang in a triangle configuration under one tarp. From what I can tell, this tarp would not be made for that kind of hanging configuration right? Thanks again so much, its a beautiful tarp.

The concept is good but.... tarp, rain fly and suspension comes in at over 5lbs. That's a huge problem, there are equally good systems out there at half that weight. The pricing suggests that the hammock itself is an $89 item so the bulk of the investment is in a tarp and bug net... I'd say include the hammock in the $280 and take a share of ENO customers, stay out of the Clark nx270 territory (price wise), which by the way comes in almost 1 lb lighter with the XL tarp...I guess my point is, sell it as a "system" at a "system" price point, don't offer it by itself and then say "oh, by the way if you want the hammock too that's extra". It's just a turn off as a customer to look at "combo" options for something that should be sold together.

We offer the Pares Hammock (www.smrgearme.com/buy-gear/pares ) and the xPlor Hammock (www.smrgearme.com/buy-gear/xplor) as great options to pair with your Nubé. Our hammocks are 100% Nylon with a high tread count and super tight threaded fabric, making them UV ray, water, and weather resistant, unlike most Nylon Tri Blend hammocks on the market. Our fabric takes longer to break down, is extremely durable, while feeling nicer on your skin. You can choose the Nubé alone since it is built to be compatible with other brand of camping hammocks, or you can choose to add on our hammocks.

This is cool, but it is space wasting. That much space above is unnecessary. Instead of hanging your stuff below you, hang it above you to conserve space and keep it away from animals better.
@Sierramadreresearch10 жыл бұрын
Great suggestion Valdemar Korneliussen! One thing we didn't enjoy about most shelters on the market is the 'sleeping in a coffin' feeling with such a cocoon type fit, or low ceiling. The space inside is actually something valuable about the comfort of the Nubé. We also designed the Nubé to fit two hammocks - Hambunks - comfortably inside (as seen here: www.smrgearme.com/combo-packages/hambunks ) This way you have room for a hammock closer to the ceiling and another just below it. Also, when your gear is just below you, it makes for easy access to your things. It is nice to just easily lean over and see what you need below you with out having to get out of your hammock. We did consider your suggestion during the design/testing phase of the Nubé and all in all, it turned out to be much more functional and comfortable with the Gear Stash below! I imagine, if any Nubé owner wanted, he/she could always easily rig it differently with all the space above! Thanks again Valdemar! Hope you are well!
@valdemarkorneliussen287310 жыл бұрын
Sierra Madre Research Personally I like to have my things above me, I find it easier to just take the things down from above, kind of like on an airplane if you know what I mean. Reaching below always makes it risky to fall out of the hammock and landing on thus destroying your stuff. That's how I think about it, anyway.
@danwesson24859 жыл бұрын
Valdemar Korneliussen I own this setup. It has two pockets, one on each side to hold the items you use the most. The gear storage below you holds the rest of your items that you hiked in. Minus your huge backpack, the footprint is not big enough but can easily hold the weight though. I load the gear storage with my water bottles, extra clothes, boots, etc. The rest stays in my pack under the Nube and stays dry. I hope this helps explain. You could easily setup a ridge line inside if you wanted. But I never had the need. And never fell out of my paris while reaching for items, and I am new to hammock camping. "new" = 68 straight days of sleeping overnight, hiked back to my house every morning, about 3 miles. That how much I love this thing!

@Sierramadreresearch7 жыл бұрын
@mikey eboy - it's actually a very quick setup due to the fact that your hammock doesn't have to be perfectly centered in the Nubé, to avoid getting drenched (see the extended Closure Sleeves) and it only uses 6 stakes. No the Nubé is made to simply hang at your max reach, no need to go any higher.... Personally I set up my Nubé at 6.5' (I'm 6'2"), and with that setup I can stand up straight inside, fully protected. My wife (5'6") sets hers up at just under 6', and it's perfect for her. Please let us know if you have any other questions @ customerservice@sierramadreresearch.com - we'd be glad to help!

It took you three years to design and develop this "system"? It took only 16 months to build the Golden Gate Bridge!

Thanks for your contribution to the internet Joseph. Yes our founder did develop the product over a three year period. Yes it takes time to perfect a product and build a business around it. High performance gear takes time and real world testing in numerous environments in order to prove a robust design. In regards to the Golden Gate Bridge: construction began January 5th of 1933 and construction ended April 19th 1937. The first American made suspension bridge was built in 1801 for reference. Planning and designing the 'Gate took a lot longer. It takes only a few minutes to this hammock system.

Sierra Madre Research, you forgot that the bridge required thousands of people and the ROI took 30 years. Initial investment was $635 million (calculated for inflation). Your ROI won't take 30 years, and you accomplished your goal with two people and a tiny budget.

I hope to get one of these. It's just not in the budget at the moment :( A cheaper system will have to suffice until I can afford this wonderful invention! I plan on obtaining the Adventura combo pack. I love what you guys do and stand for!
