Strange how that "explosion" defied the laws of physics. The detonation was miles away but the sound of the explosion arrived instaneously.
@sbandc2 жыл бұрын
Are you basing that off of the countdown, or the moment of impact? Can you notate the timestamp in the video where the impact occurs? Your eyes may be better than mine.
@randolphstead29882 жыл бұрын
@@sbandc I didn't dissect the timeline but the sound seemed to arrive at the same time as the detonation. The brightening of the light seems to match the countdown. In a submarine simulation I used to play, the sound of torpedoes or gun shells exploding was also coincidental with detonation, no matter the range. This was commented on and a fellow player introduced a game mod which delayed the sound of explosions after impact of ordnance. This phenomenon of delayed arrival of sound is most easily observed with high flying aircraft; its observed position does not match its sound. Same thing with lightning; the farther away the bolt of lightning, the greater the delay before the thunder.
@sbandc2 жыл бұрын
@@randolphstead2988 The point is that there is no clear visual indicator of the "detonation", and the countdown would likely not be accurate as an addition of post production... so the point at which you begin to time the sound reaching the viewer has no evidence to contradict the detonation happening earlier than the audible countdown. I may not fully understand the stages of the immensities of light for a nuclear explosion, but I can say that the immensity begins with the video and gradually increases over time... so the physical, would-be "explosion", could've taken place any number of seconds before the audio finishes- and the fact that sound travels faster over water would decrease the offset- as there is obviously a tremendous body of water between event and observer.
@randolphstead29882 жыл бұрын
@@sbandc After reading your comments I've watched it several times and my opinion (for what it's worth) is the sound and the brightening effect are so close together as to be indistinguishable. I am on a phone so I can't access the timeline. In any case, I made my comment in a way which makes it seem flippant and for that I am sorry. The speed of sound varies somewhat with varying factors such as temperature, altitude and the surface over which it travels, but in the distance covered in this video I don't feel it would make a very noticeable difference. What could have added to the blast wave effect would have been to play the "before" part at normal speed and then speed it up, to give the impression of the blast wave arriving. As it is, the foliage is moving at the same speed throughout the video. Thanks for your comments.
