It seems to be the anti-scarecrow.. The Scarecrow album was about the creature [Scarecrow] looking for love, acceptance into the bright new world he was exploring to escape the monotony of his dark fields he tended.. Moonglow on the other hand, is the story of a nocturnal creature that sees this bright world he never knew existed, and he avoids and runs away from the light, instead preferring to bask in the "Moonglow" of the dark night.

@mattakuorokashi5 жыл бұрын
I love this comment. I was thinking this album was significantly more positive in tone and feel and this song in particular has a strong resemblance to The Scarecrow. That resemblance is so strong that I've mentally logged this as their second greatest piece under The Scarecrow, but the lyrical interpretation you offer is so apt. I think what I love about both pieces, adding to your contrast, is that the lyrics and singing in The Scarecrow are masterful, as is the instrumentation and composition. However, they shine independent from one another. The Raven Child is quite different. Through almost the whole song, with equal lyrics, singing, instrumentation, and composition, there's a constant play off each other. The strip of bars between 3:15 and 4:03 is an example of this. They accentuate and boost one another in this conscious effort that makes this song the star of this album. Great catch with the "anti-Scarecrow."
@jakobfel25 жыл бұрын
I see that theme for sure. For me, this album was more of a loose concept about escapism, which means a lot to me being that I love fantasy and fictional stories since they allow me to get away from this world for a bit while enjoying another world where I can actually make a difference.

Those who compared the genius of Tobi with the likes of Mozart and Shakespeare weren't really stretching anything. He's indeed a truly distinct mastermind of composing from our time. It's a breathtaking effusiveness and poetic awe, which are converged so distinctly (hence the "Avant-Garde" style) which still, it yet happens for me to get a bit lost haha. Starry-eyed, maybe living a lie? A lonely heart in and endless line Oh raven child Raven child Bewildering and strange The scent of spring and cherry blossoms Sweet scent of rain They're calling you Astounding how it is Not the same it used to be When you're compelled behind the crenel on your own The tolling of the bell Is there anyone to tell me what they wanna say Voices go on and on and on to me But their tongues won't permeate throughout my soul In your altered state of mind In vain you're chasing light, yeah Your master in his frown Denial of the crown of creation You're mad to think you are A fire in the dark for the fool's gonna find his way Gonna run and never get away Is it love that glows in fiery alignment? A fire in the dark for the fool's gonna find his way Gonna run and never get away Is it love that glows in fiery alignment? Starry-eyed, maybe living a lie? A lonely heart in and endless line Light breeze in the crowns of the willows Green fields as if the day was on the wane Grow faint and attain to perfection What a backdrop for a diamond And so we sway in the wind like the willow Meant to give way to the order of the storm Won't leave a mould in the marsh of the ages A tired chevalier of fortune Blue and serene once a sky swanned on magic The unborn in the stream of destiny Time flows to become a mound of nothing For a broken soldier of fortune On my Comin' down Goin' all the way now You won't get away You know Finally the way you're shown You're goin' now Comin' down Goin' all the way now You won't get away You know Finally the way you're shown You're goin' now Comin' down Goin' all the way now You won't get away You know Finally the way you're shown You're goin' now Comin' down Goin' all the way now You won't get away You know Finally the way you're shown You're goin' now Comin' down Goin' all the way now You won't get away You know Finally the way you're shown You're goin' now Comin' down Goin' all the way now You won't get away You know Finally the way you're shown You're goin' now Comin' down Goin' all the way now You won't get away You know Finally the way you're shown You're goin' now Comin' down Goin' all the way now You won't get away You know Finally the way you're shown You're goin' now Into the light In the light there's a crack torn open From underneath the day In the light, but a crack, is it growing? Feel the dark rolling in, your way Feel the light look away It's gonna blind you Ignite your spirits fly See a light to uncloak their master To arouse the beaten mind In the light there's a crack torn open From underneath the day (You dream and fly) In the light, but a crack, is it growing? Feel the dark rolling in your way (Hey raven child) Feel the light look away It's gonna blind you Ignite you spirits fly Uncloak the raven master To arouse the beaten mind You tuck away yourself inside You ride away on the inmost light Your soul glowing opal-blue A million voices fade away I never really got what they're trying to say For my words there's no getting through Oh, you sail to the night's plutonian shore You drift to sleep, you can't take no more of this And like a raven child You spread your paltry wings and throw Yourself into the wind to escape from all below That despised the raven child Am I awake or is it an evil dream Or maybe the ugly in between Like me... a weak hermaphrodite A burning soul in unimpaired parts In quest for light but it was the dark That embraced the raven child A cloak of invisibility To curtain the fate of deformity, no Darkness let me in Off to the night's plutonian shore You dream and hope you won't wake no more to this (Oh fiery eyes) Flying raven child (Oh fiery eyes) Flying raven child Oh to escape from all below Spread your wings and go Like a raven child

Of course the whole song is masterpiece but I dont know why, the part "A fire in the dark for the fool ........ " has some rare melody that I have to repeat it for cca 5 times until I let the song continue. Tobi is genius.

Apaixonada por esta música e ansiosa pelo novo álbum! O Tobias tem muita sensibilidade em criar melodias que combinam com o estilo de cada artista convidado e ao mesmo tempo, elas se encaixam perfeitamente no estilo do Avantasia.

One suggestion guys at Nuclear Blast Records. You list out all the vocalists but you should also say starring Sascha Paeth, while at it, Michael Rodenberg and Felix Bohnke.

I love Blind Guardian, but especially the Hansi Kürsch's voice, he should take part in more Avantasia's albums. Great work Tobias!!! I've just done my pre-order, i hope all the album sounds really epic like this.
@RiasGremoryIsLife5 жыл бұрын
Hansi should take part in every power metal band. Now that would be great for the genre. -To be fair though, the oversaturation of Hansi's voice would cause it to devalue, which would be very bad for the power metal economy. So perhaps it's best it stays this way.-

I'd like to report an error in the on-screen lyrics, at about 9:08 it should have displayed [Jørn sounds] for 20 seconds. Also that's currently my favorite part.

Holy Crap, that chorus inspires so much emotion, it's so powerful! This is going to be the best album since The Scarecrow (not saying others were bad, because Avantasia CAN'T make bad albums)

Scarecrow was too polarized. About 6 good songs. The rest had too many ballads/mid-tempo fillers.
@MichaelHolmgaard5 жыл бұрын
@@blindg7092 Agreed. Scarecrow was definitely the point where Avantasia lost some of the magic (funny enough, that sorta happened to Edguy as well.) Ghostlights was a change to the better, but im hoping that Moonglow really can showcase the potential which Metal Opera I-II held 😉
