A lot of Finns emigrated to Canada to work in the lumber industry in the late 1800s. Some of them got pissed off and went back home, others got depressed and committed suicide in a variety of inventive ways, and the descendants of those that remained still inhabit parts of Northern Ontario. They are an awesome people, and both the men and the women have great sisu.

Not surprised to hear that. As a Canadian, I can say our history is pretty fucking dark. Not Finnish, but my grandpa was a lumberjack for awhile. He was out working away from my grandma and their 10 kids quite often.

I find this music video somehow soothing. Puts daily problems off my mind and makes me enjoy simple things around: food, warmth, good music, good people, coziness. Twice as good after hard work on a cold winter day! That's why I keep going back to this video.

mestämies translates into forestman or in correct English lumberjack and for those of you that dont speak finnish here is the lyrics in English Never afraid of hard work, a frame saw dragging man. Never met someone to throw him off his log Work of a lumberjack is a toil, The trees are cut and pruned with your own muscles The trees are moved and piled with your shoulder It´s cold and you´re hungry but the wilderness is home that gives food and warmth for it´s men Frame saws are sinning and two-man saws rub, a callus handed man. Frame saws are sinning and two-man saws rub, a callus handed man. Work of a lumberjack is a toil, The trees are cut and pruned with your own muscles The trees are moved and piled with your shoulder It´s cold and you´re hungry but the wilderness is home that gives food and warmth for it´s men

kiva kun on edes jonkinainen käännös. This translation is just translation. Many words are old spoken language like " nälkäviulu" and means hungryviolin or violin or the hungry and means frame saw. " Ei ole koskea tuol joka heivannut ois tämän jätkän tukiltansa pois" tehere are not any white-water what had throws that jack out top of his log. yes i kan not make evn that good translation.

English lyrics "The lumberjack has never been afraid of hard work" Said the guy jerking the frame saw. No river has been able to throw This guy off his log. The work of a lumberjack is tough, Chopping down and pruning by muscle power. Carrying and piling up by shoulders. Hungry and cold but the forest is the home, Which feeds it's guys and keeps them warm "The frame saw sings and the two-man saw grinds" Said the guy with worn-out hands. "The frame saw sings and the two-man saw grinds" Said the guy with worn-out hands.

Morduk Metalhead Well some western parts of Finland is part of Scandinavia, but other than that, no. Scandinavia is a fucking mountain connecting a few countries, nothing more. Now nordics in the other hand which Finland is in, is all that matters. Nordics is where we have economical relations to each countries, and maybe soon our own Nordic defense forces.

Morduk Metalhead Nordics have good relationships with each other. We do business with each other, and i can go to any Nordic country without a passport. The Nordic defense forces (mainly Finland and Sweden) is a thing that nordics have thought to keep us safe from Russia (or atleast show them we got guns too and we will stick together)

It shouldn't be a surprise any more, but the elvish in LOTR was heavily influenced by finnish... Lots of the pronounciation and joined vowels are straight from finnish, among other more subtle things.. But seriously, these guys are a lot more angry than the elves....
