Paradise Lost is truly one of the greatest metal bands of all times. Just a bunch of blokes from Yorkshire who created a whole new genre, no lineup changes (apart from drummers) for almost 35 years, no scandals, drama or drug abuse. Never sold out, and actually took the risk of alienating their fanbase several times by exploring completely new directions. Consistently putting out new material, and playing impeccable live shows, and staying humble all the while. Mad respect, lads.

Greg Mackintosh is definitely one of the most underrated guitarists in metal. Sure, he may not play some crazy fast-shredding solos with 100 notes per second, but his guitar playing is just magic from a different world. This is what I call a true guitar genius. I don't care about people who play super fast, but soulless and shity melodies. Just go to 4:19... geez...

I remember the summer of 91. We were on a school trip to Berlin. The Wall had almost completely come down. While all the other kids went off to the Techno Clubs , I was digging through crates with Metal Vinyl and stumbled upon the gem that "Gothic" was. "Shattered" "Gothic" and "The Painless" absolutely blew me away. I had never heard stuff like this before. I couldn't wait to get back home and listen to this album again and again and again. I followed their career all these years, even though after "Icon" they lost me a bit. Now , even though, I only know 3 songs of the new album at the moment, I get this special PL feeling again. A lot of fans and music critics don't appreciate the "Host and Believe in Nothing" era but this album has a lot to do with them, the beginning of this song can perfectly fit in the Host album while the bass feels like it was taking out off the BIN album. The whole Obsidian album has a lot to do with (Draconian Times, Host, BIN, PL 2005, etc). This album is amazing and even if you don't understand the transition of the band throughout that mentioned ERA the end result is this.

@@Speed4Runs No it's not cool. Depression has never been cool. Only goths and emos think it's cool. So please, spare me the details of your "condition" mate.
@Speed4Runs4 жыл бұрын
@@ak-8585 oh no, you can clearly perceive how "cool" being a fake depressed person is nowadays. It's a trend. Maybe it's because "sadness" is mistaken with "depression", but "I wanna die" is still a recurring sentence from people who actually _don't_ wanna die. For sure, depression itself is not cool, considering it completely ruined my life. But that doesn't mean that many people fake it just to get some more likes. Now, instead of accusing me of not being depressed, please consider that 1) some depressed people *do* joke about depression and 2) I was being totally serious, this time. You don't even have any idea of how much amitriptyline ('cos sertraline is like water for me) my body takes every day, and yet you're just assuming stuff by generalizing. I really appreciate the fact that you see it as a disorder and not a simple "have a walk", but I may also suggest you to both learn boolean logic and think before speaking, 'cause you know, the human brain isn't a predictable LTI system.

From all the bands I listened to as a teenager back in the nineties PL are the one of the very few who are releasing new music every bit as good as they did back then. Very special band!

❤Drifting through loss We escape from the cost of the pain The healing through years So obscured by the tears and the strain But this one-way street you're on You'll never be fulfilled And this one-way street you're on Is gonna get you killed Healing the lost, so delusional hollow and vague Ascending through fear as emotionless dreams of the grave But this one-way street you're on You'll never be fulfilled And this one-way street you're on Is gonna get you killed Onto a higher ground, a youthful lie, no warning death Hiding is truth in all us Another fired down, do or die it's just despair Hiding the truth in all us God asks not to kill God asks not to kill God asks not Godless sworn to kill Godless sworn to kill God asks not With inner peace gone, you pray All those darker thoughts are coming back to stay With inner peace gone you've paid All those darker thoughts are coming back to stay Godless sworn to kill Annihilation Godless sworn to kill (Godless sworn to kill) Annihilation God asks not to kill God asks not to kill God asks not Godless born to kill Godless born to kill God asks not
