Great video! good quality and informative It's a shame that you only got so many views. I think that if you edit the title to something like, gigabyte brix board short- helping a viewer finding a short or something in these lines, it will bring more views Thanks and have a nice day!

Just wanna say before anything else how amazing it is that you make these videos. Helps me really a lot and I am learning so much. So apparently you got a new capacitor soldered in, nice! However, let us know when u find out whats wrong with your board if you can figure it out. Good luck! And no worries about the wrong name for the VRM. It doesn't really matter what it does, as long as it has to work, from now on I will refer to it as the "bad VRM". And nice tricks to find out where the short is! I already was afraid, that the PCB might be rigged. I have to think about what I do next for a moment, but the datasheet helps a lot. Now at least I have a clue what's going on. Anyways, I dont want to hold you off your job to much. May I ask what you do for a living? I ques something with electronics or where does all your knowledge come from?

hello Aaron i have a question for you, I saw your previous videos on fixing a GTX 980 Ti, im wondering if you would be willing to have a look and diagnose my GTX 980 Ti ??

Hi Dillon, send me an email at aaron@aaronaverett.net with a description of what happens when you start the system up with the card installed, and where you're located.

I have a 980TI and it's works fine until you do something demanding, and it's nothing with the power supply not pc it's self because when I out my 2080 super in it doesn't crash, so do you have a idea why my 980ti crashs under load

I went on with soldering off the AOZ1268Q IC as prime suspect for the short circuit. For the other options I don't have the right equipment. Actually, for soldering of the IC I don't have proper equipment, too. Just my Iron and it did a pretty bad job and I think I ended up damaging the board. Maybe I will try to get the IC of the board when I am able to use a heat gun, or test the board with a external power source, but right now I don't have any of these and so there is not much left I can do. And with the mess I caused while trying to get the IC off, I don't think I could get a new IC to work again properly. So I think I reached the end of the journey with this project. You where totally right, soldering off components is by far not the best way to find the short. But now I know how to do it properly on my next project, already having a tablet lying around that won't start! If I ever get back to the Brix I will let you now. So, maybe I wasted 50€ on this Brix but I feel like I learned more with this Project and primarily with your help than in 3 Years of studying electrical engineering! I cant say thank you enough! Big kudos to you! Keep going and i am exited to learn more from your coming projects and your past videos. Thank YOU!

Man, that's a bummer. I always feel like a jerk telling people they need to buy elaborate tools before they even attempt a repair, but you really do need at least a hot air station for this sort of work. Don't attempt it with a heat gun - that's like trying to carve delicate wooden figurines with a chainsaw. Did removing the IC clear the short?

@@AaronAverett no you are totally right. I did not have the right equipment and it was not I good Idea to try it anyways. In Germany we have places were you can go and use tools like these for free, where I normally would have tried to fix this, but right now everything is closed up because of covid. I just wasn't patient enough to wait until it opens up again. I wasn't able to remove the IC totally so I cant say yet.

@@0llowain968 incredible Can you tell me which is the place you say about this type of tools for free
@0llowain9683 жыл бұрын
@@elpre11 I referred to something called "Makerspace". On this website you can see all locations in Germany: maker-faire.de/makerspaces/ Just contact the nearest for you. For other countries i cant say. Maybe google Makerspace + country or city name. Good Luck!

I have the exact same model. After leaving it without power (unplugged) when I went for a vacation, it didn't boot up when I was back. I am glad there are people trying to troubleshoot and I was so lazy to start. I will try to pick up from where you guys left.
