Yeah I've also heard bits and bobs about this, ive not came across much info about it though. Would certainly be a good video to do along with other rock band members from the North East. Theres actually quite a few that people probably dont realize either came from or spent some time in the north east.

Top job Eddie,love all the research & content that you have done on this subject. I see lots of my fellow Leeds fans dissasociating with our founder club (Leeds city) founded in 1904 that got kicked out of the league due to naughty stuff 😅 .. They too were based at Elland road . So,we celebrate 1919 as our year of formation ( when we became LUFC) which is both true & false at the same time. True history of clubs & how they arrived to their present day existance is vital in my opinion,no matter what the circumstances were. Loving seeing Helen & your goodself on your foodie days out too. 🥰🙏..

So when were the clubs that joined to form NUFC formed? The source, the whole family tree as it were. Ps how difficult is it to get tickets for a home game? I'm planning a trip back to Northumberland in the next year or two. Late in the season, I'm too soft for Uk winter now. From Hexham now Australia.

Cheers Eddy, another great informative video. It makes you wonder why this narrative was put out there in the first place. It sure can't be that it's just an easier story to tell, can it? Any more of this 'putting people right' thing and you'll be wearing a cape! Haha. I do agree though with other comments below that it's about time the east end should get more credit than in the past, even though I come from the west end myself. Your videos are becoming more and more informative and more professional as time goes by and I'm wondering if you have the page where I'd be able to become a patron to help you carry on making them. It's not much but we all know that these times are tough for all. Well done Eddy, keep it up mate.

Eddie how about a couple of videos. 1, Stanley fc/ Newcastle east end history up to the 1892 move to St James' park and 2: the story of Newcastle West end fc till they went bust in 1892. Be interesting to find out about the east end v West end derbies. There was a time when the 2 Newcastle sides where playing at the same time as the 2 Sunderland sides too. Sunderland and Sunderland albion. Be very interesting if you could weed out the facts of those years. Billy

Hi William, I did actually do a video covering Stanley FC about a year ago in a bit more detail. Unfortunately, neither this video, nor that one have done great in terms of viewers. I think we have to accept that only a small minority of Newcastle fans are interested in the early history of our club, specifically the false foundation story that’s been peddled. For the amount of work that goes into them, it’s just not worth the effort. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but the history page of the new website has now been down since I released this video. Around 8 weeks or so. I will be doing a follow up video once NUFC have updated the foundation story 👍🏻

@@TynesideLife I'm actually a Sunderland fan but I love the history of the north east and football. My thoughts are the club may be a bit embarrassed they got it wrong. They may well follow you up on it and the historian fella and put it on the website. I'm fairly sure it's been covered on the Internet by a someone from Sunderland who got some info for the Sunderland news papers of the day. The Sunderland antiaqurian centre will hold details of that. I'm fairly sure Sunderland albion dissolved the same year as West end. Probably because football was at a stage when most city's and towns couldn't support 2 clubs. I've seen your Stanley one but I'd love to see a one on west end. They may have been your team had they survived. Best of luck with the extended and true history of the club. Billy

Suggest you read a book by Paul Joannou called United the first 100 years, published in 1992. Quote .. With two or even three, significant years to choose from, the Club nearly celebrated their 100th birthday 10 years ago in 1982. I think said author who made quite a bit out of that book is just as complicit.
@TynesideLife5 ай бұрын
I discuss Paul a lot in the video. I’ve also had several conversations with him, so I understand the detail. I haven’t read that particular book so it’s difficult to comment without understanding the context. We know however that for many years Paul has stated in further books that Stanley FC were formed in late 1881, who went onto become Newcastle Inited. 1881 is categorically the year our club was formed. That is subject to researchable and verifiable historical record.

With East end taking over St James Park and even signing ex-West end players and staff, I can understand why the narrative of the merge was born. I'd imagine a lot of news like this wouldve been passed through word of mouth, very natural for facts to be changed that way.

Unfortunately, the salvaging of some of their assets has been twisted into a full blown club merger and foundation story. I explain how the club have got themselves into a pickle in the video I linked at the end if you get time to watch it 👍🏻

@@TynesideLife i live in Byker next to Brinkburn street sort of in the middle of a few different sites where we played, (1#what was old stanley street, 2#near byker vicarage and 3#near dalton street/union road) all within a few minutes walk of each other. Sorry if you mentioned this as i was getting my daughter sorted for bed as i watched this video, but the same year we changed our name from stanley fc we actually merged with another club called rosewood fc which was the first of a few clubs around the areas merging with 'East end', others being Cheviot and Union Harriors. As you did mention though our name change wasnt recognised until 1885 which is also the first year we won a title (The Northumberland Challenge Cup) A book i remember reading that was interesting which had some great old photographs was 'Pioneers of the North by Paul Joannou' I have always wondered why NUFC shy away from most of the East Ends history and falsely claim of a merge between East and West when in fact the West was completely dissolved and East End simply (once again) changed their name and moved stadiums. Its strange because i do remember Newcastle acknowledging 130 years of history in 2011 when they even released a red kit and a blue kit, a nod to old east end colours, so im not sure when this 1892 narrative actually started. 😂 Sorry for such a long rambling reply to 'where do you live'
