I love remakes unlike most people but I have to agree with you. The 84' version was a bunch of unknowns making a teen movie that the had no idea would go on to become iconic. Their dance scene was like a bunch of people showing off their moves at prom or at a wedding, doing the Soul Train line type thing. The new version was like a flash mob or choreographed dance at a wedding. Still fun and interesting to watch but lacking spontaneous joy

@atmos31552 жыл бұрын
Right? But that's pretty much just because the dancing in the 80s version was more a social dancing. Also, I'm sure there weren't as many studios back then to teach stuff like that, especially street dancing.

yeah because the remake is a shitty soulless modern hollywood movie that needed to meet racial quotas and appear in vines/youtube videos. They weren't making a movie. They were trying to create a brand
@Jourmand1r Жыл бұрын
dont you understand? they had to have acrobatic flips and break dancing because they had to represent "minority dancing". It had to be in your face the entire time or you might not have seen they were trying. They think having dudes doing street dance moves would make this movie popular with Black audiences so they could make more money. and before someone says "the original had flips and break dancing" Lol no. The OG movie had wacked out white kids pretending to break dance and doing weird flips. It's meant to be goofy because theyre so turnt up. the remake has a bunch of professional dancers doing Chris Brown moves.

well, loved the 80s and admire your love for it too, and while there was no taking of selfies, etc. there was, however, judgment like today. we did want to dance and enjoy the night with our friends, but there was plenty of not being accepted going around back then. In 20-25 years (Hopefully less!) you will look back fondly on your teenage years, and tell stories of it, and your kids and grandkids will probably tell you things about your time just as you are envisioning my teenage years. I enjoyed them a lot, but there was still many of the same probs as today. but this movie was one of the great things that xcame from the 80s!

+Juanita Franklin No comparison and did make my comment above. This 2011 version sucked in my estimation and as I said, leave the Classics alone and find another story line to bring it into this era and don't mess with what worked the first time. Not in favor of remaking classics.

yes because it gives nostalgia otherwise it is very obvious that new version is more fast and much better.. also this new lead dancer is more talented dancer than kevin bacon
@ArcanjoBya10 жыл бұрын
M Muneeb most fast and more edited, its not talent of dancers
@adrianlemarchal591510 жыл бұрын
M Muneeb You are missing the point, I lived this pal, you are not listening to the lyrics, "everybody could footloose", and that's why this movie was so big, because it was true, we all could do it just like in the movie. What you see in the remake, you gotta be a professional dancer to do that shit, regular people like you couldn't make those moves even in your sleep.
@DJoy22110 жыл бұрын
M Muneeb Kevin Bacon was a very natural dancer, very fluent and real along with all the other dancers in the 80's version, none of it look rehearsed unlike in the movie. Although I did like some of the things they did in the new version it could never be what the 80's version is. Don't even get me started on Blake Shelton's version of Footloose because ugh, that was just not right. Although I do enjoy some of Blake's music it's hard to top Kenny Loggins.

The original is pure joy. These are real people dancing their hearts out and having so much fun! They are not trying to outdo each other in the 80's, they are all just bringing their own style to the floor and the dancers are celebrating together and loving each new style. I've never seen the remake and i'm sticking with that. It is slicker, yes, but performative and competitive. They are great dancers, but there is no joy to be found. Go watch 'you think you can dance' for better dancing if that is all you want.
