This was a fun adventure! I went exploring miles and miles of woods in the North Eastern part of the US. I discovered an old cellar hole and several other house sites from the late 1700's to early 1900's. If you're looking to purchase a metal detector soon, then visit www.battleground-detectors.com

About Nugget Noggin:
Hey! I'm Michael, I love to get outdoors and discover awesome things
with my metal detector. I started treasure hunting when I was 12 years
old and shortly after received my first metal detector. Since then, I've
been hooked and just love going out to search for the unknown. You
may see me in the woods crawling under an old house or diving down
in the river to search for rings. Wherever the adventure brings us, I'll try
my best to keep you entertained.

To all of you ya-hoos out there bashing Nugget for NOT knowing what some of his finds are: Hush up! The fact that he doesn't do research to find these things out before posting his video is just a great way to keep the viewers feeling like they're there with him during his adventures. Do your own research. It's exciting to think about what you you might find out along the way. He still does know a lot more than most of his viewers. When you do this for so long, you're bound to know a thing or two. I know I've learned a lot since I've started watching his content. Think before you type. That's all.

In your wrap up at 13:30 the silver item is a three footed silver basket. It most likely would have held a crystal or cut glass compote dish. Sadly, It is not a hand guard to a sword. Pure silver (sterling) is too soft, especially for the gauge of metal used. You can carefully straighten the basket out and return it to it’s former glory! It is an excellent find, probably a cherished possession of the former family who lived there.

That lug nut looking thing is an Ox-Knob. It threaded onto the horn and what stuck out would be cut off the end. Early 1800s. 1700s and earlier were completely round. Spigot thing is a gas valve.

Ever since I was 12 I’ve been watching your videos and watching you metal detect. I had my momma order me a cheap 90 dollar metal detector. Well, 5 years down the road and here I am. Still using the same old metal detector. I went detecting yesterday in my back yard and found my first actual cool thing, it was a really old key. I’m 16 almost 17 and I’ve been working my butt off to get an AT Pro along with a pro pointer, but man aren’t they expensive. I don’t know but you inspired me a lot, and this metal detecting adventure has made me love the outdoors more and more. God bless you, and thank you ❤️

Your silver item isn't a sword hilt or hand guard. It's some sort of silver ornamental piece. Those knobs would have set on the ground and something would have been held within.

Loos like the hand guard from an old cavalry sword. Possible used by a British or American soldier in the war of 1812. Not sure where exactly you're at but you could look into the history of the area at the time to figure out exactly where that came from.

Hi Nugget, I don’t believe that is a collar disc. Due to its size, it appears to be a cap badge. Due to its beige color I would assume World War I, but usually the cap badge is just the eagle with no back. I will do further research, but still an amazing find.

And I have to wonder what caused people to abandon such a place - was it too hard, how long ago and what's the story now? Is it far away from a thriving community or just a steep hill on someone's back-forty they don't bother with any more? I guess Nugget could tell us without giving the location away? Enjoy your day Braddy's Fun Show! :)

That silver thng appears to have 3 ball feet and would have had a cut crystal container for sauce or jam. I could be wrong but without handling it I cannot be certain but am pretty sure it is not off a sword. 18th century.

After seeing all the similar comments, you are certainly correct. Before reading them, however, my thought was that it could be a hand guard for an ornamental sword, one that is only used for events that involve ceremony.
