This series is so good man, thanks a ton for making it. I'm a new player (like 3 days in) and I just keep this playing on my second monitor while I play. I've picked up so many little tips here and there that have helped me in my own gameplay. It's more than just tips though, I could get those from a much more concise video. Hearing an experienced player's thought process over extended gameplay helps me understand how to "think" like an eve player and that's been the best part.

I've started as well! I've just acquired a Rifter BPO and done my first run through low sec. I'm using an older PI alt toon that I had on an already subbed alt account, but he had no skills except PI so I figured he was a good choice for this challenge. He is Gallente, though, so ratting with the Velator has been interesting. It actually gets a pretty decent armor rep bonus. My next step is also Sansha low sec, a ways away from where you've settled. Maybe I'll see ya around o/

I love that people are playing along. I definitely suggest joining the in-game channel (Corvette2Cynabal) and saying hi. EDIT: Oh, and I feel like the Velator is actually a far stronger ratting ship than the Reaper in general. I kinda regretted early on not having started Gallente, both for the Velator and so as to have a natural early game that didn't involve shooting Angels... I'm going to need to train the Gallente ship skills anyway to fly the Cynabal.

Use a corvette to go back and fetch loot you've left behind. Bigger hold, and ok to use in highsec. Free, too.

only watched the first 8 minutes of the video as of watching so I'm not sure if you've done it by the end of this video but I'd suggest fitting a warp disruptor/scrambler if you want to secure kills against player ships, if you run into any fights you can win

So far the only fights we've run into that we could potentially win are against Ventures, and we would need TWO warp scramblers to hold them down (and even then, only if they don't have a Warp Core Stabilizer). But rest assured, we're going to strapping on a scram and looking for trouble eventually!

@@tabarnoucheinterplanetary technically 2 warp scrams would hold a venture with core stab. I'm guessing you're thinking of the long point + scram option... but a long point would be pointless to fit if you're planning on hunting ventures.

It would be cool if there were more neutral npcs in space for the player to engage with. So your only potential targets weren't just pirates. Mercenary npcs protecting various locations or hunting pirates, non-diamond rat solo miners, hauler npcs, kill squad bounty hunter npcs that come after the player after he's killed too many neutral npcs, ect. And instead of concord placing the bounty on these npcs, maybe the pirate orgs would. Or, they'd drop something you could turn into pirate or smuggling agents (ie blue/red loot.) Perhaps the player could even be offered a pirate start npe that would put them on the path you're traveling. There's quite a bit that could be done to flesh out the pirate experience.

I agree that it would be nice if there were more low level non-pirate NPCs to engage with and make the world feel alive. It must be said though that, at the high end, they really have done this, between the diamond ratting fleets, Edencom, Triglavians, Drifters, and the new roaming Havoc suppression rats, there are actually a quite a lot of different NPC types wandering around. It's just that very few of these can be interacted with by a new player without immediate death.

@@tabarnoucheinterplanetary Right. yeah. I'm all about having systems that are designed to onboard players into higher end content. That's one reason why I liked the concept behind homefronts so much. It's just a shame they're not designed very well to get new players into them in the first place. Some of the most fun in mmos I've had was running around solo, finding some people doing an activity, and jumping into it. Whether it was pve content, or faction based pvp, those were always the best experiences, and it allowed the player base to form organic relationships based on activity, rather than forced them to organize themselves into a group first before engaging in the activity.

My own update, I have a Catalyst now, I tried to do FW to upgrade to a Catalyst Navy but it doesn't work out well if you can't take any fights, got pushed off every single time so that was a failure. I'm now tackling a horrible grind to get 80M ISK for an Exequror BPO and the 90k LP with Aliastra to convert my future Exequror to an Exequror Navy. With that I hope to run DEDs until I get a Vigilant BPC. I'm at 2.4M ISK and 3.2K LP rn

Yeah, FW grinding for LP is real tough right now with Havoc still so fresh. It's a solo-PVPers paradise at the moment, which my main truly appreciates it, but I'm not sure it's the place for ships like ours at the moment. I'm impressed by your Exeq Navy ambitions, but also quite scared for you. The T1 Exequror is not exactly a great solo ratting ship. And, if you lose your first Exeq navy, you'll be looking at doing that LP grind all over again to get a second one, no? I'd be sorely tempted to just go for a Thorax instead...

@@tabarnoucheinterplanetary I would have to do the LP grind over again if I lost it, but I think the Exequror Navy is much better and with that range bonus I could snipe nicely in sites. I'll just have to pay extra close attention to dscan and be ready to leave grid at a moments notice
