Long Sleeves and Pants Will Not & Do Not Stop Them. Best Thing To Do Is Check Yourself Thoroughly. I Damn Near Died From Tick Bites Twice.

Skin so soft body oil helps a lot. If your working outside you can sweat it off. So reapply. Use other repellants on your clothes. Im a farmer and outdoorsman. Take this seriously, but dont freak out when you see a tick.

So I made this concoction of a bunch of smells ticks and mosquitoes hate and we actually witnessed mosquitoes fly toward me then dodge me as they got closer to the smell. I've never seen them actively avoid me before so it was cool. As for ticks, I found zero on me. Withouts the spray, I nearly always find ticks. I'm wondering if this concoction works! It was a strong blend of peppermint, lavender, lemon and eucalyptus diluted in spring water stored in a dark glass bottle. 🙌

I used to spray my clothing including a hat with the DEET repellent. It worked pretty well. Next thing is to either throw outside clothing in the dryer for 30 minutes or wash and dry clothing after a hike. Take a shower after a hike and you greatly lower ticks on the body including washing hair. It is important to know that Lyme disease can appear as nontraditional symptoms. Flu like symptoms, especially body aches, should be checked by doctor during the summer. I lived in CT over 40 years and ticks were a real problem so much so that I eventually left CT.

Opossum actually are great for tick infestations, as they like to eat the ticks. Ppl always view opossum as scary because their faces are scary and their teeth are sharp, but they are great to have around to keep the tick population down. I've read that they eat around 5000 ticks per season and 5000 larvae per week.

Wait a second! A DOCTOR telling you to use deet?! DEET?!! Omg I grew up in the 80s when we would bathe in deet. Anyone who grew up in that era knows what Off tastes like. Gross. Have we learned nothing about what harm that causes? Cancer, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s?

Research is way behind when it comes to treatment. I have been on 30 antibiotics with no end in sight. Late stage lyme is not curable.

Pants tucked into boots, long sleeve shirts tucked into pants, gaiters over your boots. Avoid brush. Brush off your clothes fairly often. When you get home clothes go straight into laundry and you go right into the shower. Remove any that have bitten you by slowly turning the tick counter clockwise...this will increase the chances of successfully removing the head.

Ummm, someone needs to break it to this expert-you can be infected with a tick borne disease in under an hour from 1 bite. There are countless stories online from people finding a tick within a few hours and becoming deathly ill. I got a recent bite from a tick, pulled it off with the head correctly in less than 10 mins , went to the ER because I was already starting to get symptoms including a high fever. Back on antibiotics for 6 weeks. If you are bitten, go to urgent care, go to the ER. Get antibiotics, save the tick in a ziplock bag if possible. The script they give you for 7 days or 14 days is not enough. There are Lyme Literate Medical Doctors who can treat you with a longer course, preferably 6 weeks. The website to find a Lyme doctor is ILADS , they have a search function. If you treated with too short of a round of antibiotics, you might be fine. You might die. You might spend 60,000$ or 100,000$ or more to try to save your life. The test (the ELISA) that they give you at your normal doctors office is terribly inaccurate and gives false negatives over 60% of the time. If you have late stage Lyme, the test won’t pick it up at all. For better testing, Igenix labs, Vibrant America, DNA connextions or Armin Labs are good sources. You can also test the tick if you saved it. If you have late stage Lyme, like me, I’m sorry. I have Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella, Anaplasmosis, Rickettsia, Tularemia, Erlichia. In addition to several viruses and Toxoplasmosis…… I will be undergoing SOT therapy in addition to the treatment plan my Lyme doctor has for me. Or look into Phage therapy.
