In this episode, Aaron unveils his new project crew cab, 1979 Ranger XLT in ultra rare Harley Davidson colors from the factory that has been sitting since 1990! The episode goes over the truck, the Marti report, and the interior is removed for the first time ever. What secrets will be found inside? This truck was destined for the scrapper until it was saved and subsequently made its way to Dentside Depot for short and long term restoration. This is a 1 of 1,862 4x4 crew for 1979, and almost certainly the only one ever made in these colors. In addition, this is a PA truck that believe it or not, has no rust in the drip rails!

This is a crazy rare 79 crew cab that I am bringing you here today. I am fairly certain this is the only one ever built in these colors, and best of all its a PA truck that matches the rest of my collection of rare 4x4 79s. Being the first person to dig into one thats been sitting this long is always one of the best parts of getting these, and this ones been sitting since 1990!

I could only wish the floors in the 79 F350 4x4 I just bought were half that good. The 79 Bronco I've had for 20 years are even worse than that.

Yea I got lucky here with the rear floors, thought it was going to be a complete gut when i got it

Nice find I am very surprised it is still intact where i am from RI that truck would have been long gone in PA you have road salt in RI we have road salt Plus heavy Salt air bad combo for any vehicle the other thing that help that truck Ford used a lot of galvanized steel in certain areas like the step downs on the cab Hey good luck with the restore

Once the water get inside the carpet and insulation acts like a sponge holds as much water as possible it is almost as bad as leaving the car under the water.

Dual DSO, imo. & it looks like a "shortbed" ? is it just the camera's lens that makes it look like that? If so, I think that might be why the secondary ID/alteration label...

What's the major differences between an 1979 F100 I6 and 1980 F100 I6?

.... You seam to know a thing or 2 about these trucks.... I have a question... I have a 1974-F250. And a rotted 1976 F-150 can I put the rear axle and front I-beams from the 150 on to the 250 frame or is there some difference between the 2 truck's

How many hours will it take to restore?

well im planning on doing this truck twice, a driver resto and then a full resto. But I think most people would agree well over 500 hours if you include paint and body

Used to buy those old turds for under $1000 all day long, had 2 beauty's a 1979 Ranger XLT crew 4x4 full chrome pkg 2 tone red/silver with air 400 auto bought in Gold River BC $300, had a 100% rust free 1972 crew Ranger short bed 4x4 deluxe interior cost more but did full resto on it all for under 20K, but this was over 20 yrs ago when things were normal not like now where rich boys with mom and dads inheritance pay stupid money for these rust buckets.
