I consider Numenera D&D more essential then the Cypher System Rulebook for my Cypher game... I feel the 6 types present more to play, then the 4 in the CSR. I also think that Numenera vibes better with the game and way I run, and it works better in my group; but I augment it with the CSR Redbook as well as the genre Whitebooks. My homegame switched by D&D 5E to Cypher a while ago, and its been the best thing. Especially when the ND&D books came out with the Numenera Player's Guide; it basically allowed me to selectively show them the book pages that they needed to see, and everything else was referred too the NPG; then anything after that was the CSR... It works for my game...and its fun.

Man, I think my old game crew from the 1990s would have been all over this game. Sadly, that group (including myself) scattered to the wind 20+ years ago, and some are no longer with us. We'll see if I'm able to build a new core group and if that group bites on this one. Fingers crossed.
