Exactly. I hated being around groups of people, especially strangers. Family’s family so I could tolerate it since I’ve got a large one. I grew a pair and applied to a casino when I was 20 during 2012’s shit economy. I surprisingly got the job and despite my discomfort, I bit the bullet for the cash. I got over my discomfort by basically ignoring someone until they were relevant and talking to me. But I did my job and that was that. I still don’t like being around groups of people and prefer to stay home for anything, not like Numi who actively goes out with friends. I got over my anxiety and awkwardness without friends or family helping me so she doesn’t have much of an excuse. To be quite honest, it’s doesn’t even seem like social awkwardness or anxiety that Numi has. It’s _romantic_ awkwardness and anxiety. She’s very keen on looking at attractive people, obviously talking is another matter but even still, action is quite literally beyond her. She’ll be 30 before she loses that V-card.

Even my self worth is higher, if that’s really what’s causing this. It's not that serious, chief. This kind of self-sabotage isn't the kind of pathological thing that you need therapy for. It's much more symptomatic of Numi not actually wanting anything to happen. That's why everyone pokes fun at it, that's why it's a running gag. These stories are funny because they're told with an emphasis on the joke, but if you boil away that emphasis and look at the story with the context of the situation, it's pretty clear that there was nothing that was going to happen there unless everyone actually wanted it. Numi just didn't. She might say that she's her own worst enemy when it comes to dating, but she's still living her life and having fun and making friends. She's got time and she's got plenty of options, let her catch up on her own. She'll get there.
