I watched this earlier on my 50" TV - wow, your new tech certainly shows up every flaw. I think I'll stick to watching on my phone as the coins come up about 3x magnification - not so scary! Loved the commentary and way you just picked on a few coins to comment on. The Pedigree side is quite interesting. For $10,000 I would probably buy a many different Sovereigns as I could but if I had to choose one then it would be the 1887 Jubilee Head Proof Sovereign. Reckon I could get a PR64 or even PR65 for that. I hope this is the winning reply to get the $10,000 prize!

Just a thank you numis I ask a lot of questions on things I buy most from your suggestions but thanks for your kindness you converted a poured silver guy to a sov lover but more I watch more I want and unlike Your forum guy with amazing sovs I just don’t see many of his quality I know I lucky to get the 2017s the 89s and a few others, now the march book you suggested keeping my focus on scarce or better only again thanks

A great start good quality Sovereigns are not that easy to pick up. Auctions are a good bet and relationships with dealers too.
@akeman217 жыл бұрын
I would go for a really nice example of the very first "modern" Sovereign, 1817 Georg III. I think it is a great design and historically important. my2c

I bought the 2012 sov. And found it graded ms64 for about $400 so based on your comment thought that was a decent grade and price hope I interpreted your comments correctly getting a 89 double sov graded now hoping it comes back with high grade thanks for sharing this amazing collection
@Numistacker7 жыл бұрын
Bad deal on the 2012 Sovereign I am afraid. Ms64 for this is very low and $400 is high. One would expect $330 or so for a raw 2012 Sovereign maybe a few dollars either way. Say $25 for grading so perhaps a little rich.

Very nice collection. I would go for the best 1817 my $10K would get . I love that design. If my bank balance was huge then a 1853 Australian Port Phillip pattern 2 ounce coin would be my pride and joy.

Eventually, I plan on getting the 1989 and the 2017 proof sovereigns. Those early ones are just a dream and it's nice to see them here. So I would have money left over and would put it into silver bullion.
@meteoman79583 жыл бұрын
2021 Update: Since January 2018, I have converted quite a bit of silver bullion into gold and have added 58 ounces of gold to my collection, including 18 sovereigns, of which 9 are proof. However, I still don't have the 1989 and 2017 proof sovereigns. I'm missing two bullion sovereigns in the run from 1957 to 1978, (1976 and 1978), and from 1979 onward, I'm looking for proof only. In the run from 1979 to 1999, I am missing eight. I only have one five sovereign proof, the easy to obtain 1985. The Covid pandemic has really shut down the availability of locally sourced gold coins, so things have been quite slow during the past year. I'm about to rewatch the 5 grading results videos. Cheers.

Another great video! You will need good evidence to get the pedigree - make sure you supply all the proof you have.

What is the difference between a proof a bullion and an uncirculated sovereign purchased new from the Perth mint . Is it correct that since 2013 Sovereigns are minted in India under production Swiss PAMP control but to Royal Mint specifications

My dream coin would be the 1920 Sydney George the V gold Sovereign.Im afraidIt would cost a tad more than £10,000 though.

With my fantasy $10,000 I would get an early Victorian Sov...not sure if they made a Gothic Sov but that would be it. Or her first year or as close as 10k would get me.
@Numistacker7 жыл бұрын
For $10k you could have a gothic Sovereign designed?

I purchased about 8 duro sovs from allgold,sevenoaks from ebay round about 2004 but had no certificate .I have only the ebay printout from the above dealers that tells that coin came from this shipwreck ,does this affect the provenance off the coins?

Yes no real provenance without traceability back to spink sale

@goudhaantje35697 жыл бұрын
Ok I did not check that. Just ordered two proof silver ones quickly . I now pay half of what I paid to a dealer in Nov 2017. So you leave the gold proof piedfort for shadowstack?
@yinyangja7 жыл бұрын
My little 1/2 sov must be hiding in a corner of your office, ashamed :/ BTW ...I am getting a 1987 gold Britannia 1/10 oz. I found one on eBay graded PR 69 UC for a good price. I think Brits are a good alternate to Sov's because there is a variety of designs. Also I was pricing silver proof Britannia;s modern. Why is it that silver proofs can have a premium of 200% to 1000%...but gold proofs have maybe from 20% to 50% over raw spot value?

If I had $10000, I'd go for a Victoria Narrow Shield. For this amount of money, I won't get a top grade but I would happily accept a lower grade of this design. If such $10000 shall be spent on non-Sovereigns, I'd try to find an Adelaide Pound or a Burgerspond. $10000 would probably not buy the highest grades here as well.
@Numistacker7 жыл бұрын
Narrow Shield is a rare coin. I think 10,000 should get one. Adelaide Pound or maybe a Mohur?
