Very pedagogical video on how to use the nunchaku. I like that you go to the most demanding way of using it, that makes so much trouble for everyone who tries to master this weapon. I couldn´t believe that it is so simply. You don´t imagine how much I´ve tried to make this work and not been able to figure out why I couldn´t do it. It´s these small points that one would never look for oneself. Thankyou for having made it easier to understand the small finer points of nunchaku-mastery. :)

at 2 mins you didn't explain that you do two spins on the alternate side to the arm that holds the chuk and one on the side that holds it. i figured it out cos I do poi, but i dug my old chuks out and now i need to buy another set for the other hand. cheers to you!! why didn't i think of this before now???

Well, think of it this way, in my Karate dojo, we are taught to push ourselves to get our kicks above head level. Now, in a street fight, you'd never try to kick the head because it's hard to do, especially when you go for an easier shot at legs or the groin, but if you have a strong and fast high kick, your kicks at a lower, easier height will be even stronger. For nunchucks, if you understand the flow of it, and can freestyle well, then you can do simple things like striking and self defense

The first move (forward change up) is also called the 3d weave. It is a lot easier to memorize it if your thinking of a clock. Over 12to 6 over 12 to 6 and that how I got it!

What relation is there, if any, between expert nunchaku use and silly haircuts? Because I'd be willing to have a silly haircut and beard combo to use nunchaku all awesome.

Sorry but at the beginning he doesn't explain the move right because he switches everytime to an open position like required on a 2-beat weave. But on that 3 beat-weave you stay with your arm across an make an extra circle below/above the other spinning chuck :)
