I saw Extreme live a few years ago, went without knowing much about them at all, friend had a spare ticket. I've seen quite a few bands live, but this is the first time I'd seen a proper virtuoso guitarist live. Nuno's *intimidatingly* good, I was in absolute awe the whole show.

Embedded in this are hallmarks of the great Funkasaurus Rex Pat Travers. Makin' Magic albums' Rock n Roll Susie and Need Love. And Puttin' It Straight's Gettin' Betta. My biggest influence in 1977. Then Nuno hyper energizes it like only he can. Super cool vid, late to the party as I am.

This is the best guitar instructional channel I've found so far. Ben's mixture of instruction and humor hits all the right "notes" (pun intended). I see so many channels that just spew "play the third fret on the 2nd string, followed by the fifth fret on the 1st string". There is none of that here. It's theory presented in a fun and entertaining manner.

I like how you explain everything quickly but I can still follow your description and your work on the fretboard. And the sound of the guitar doesn't overwhelm your voice or vice versa. That's key for a video like this. Thanks for the quality.

I was in a Funky metal type band in Charlotte in the lat3 80's. We just came out of the studio and the local station Fox was playing some of our stuff on a local rock show, we listened one night we knew they were gonna play us, we did not realize we were the last on that show and they played "Kid Ego" right after us, we were all quite after thinking they were a local band too that blew us away!! Thankfully we found out who they were or I might have hung it up right there!! All these years later and I'm still learning his licks!

That album came out when I was 22 yrs old...it was a total game changer. I worked at a Sound and Lighting company filled with Big Haired Heavy Metal guys....me I was a little old Blues Rock throw back playing SRV, Johnny Winter and Southern Rockers. The Virtuoso Shred heads were all blown away, one guy the "king of the shred hill there" who had a CBS Record deal decided it was time to hang up the big hair and go do country LOL.... the first time I heard it I was totally floored. It became my go to sound check album when I installed Sound systems in night clubs.....The Dynamic range between the ultra heavy bass and Nuno's leads was a great way to tweek and good system, on the opposite end when I installed CHEAP speakers I sound checked them with "Everybody Dance Now" because I could always make that sound "good" (enough) and I wanted to get the check and go home LOL

Great stuff, as always! This kind of analysis of the intervals and notes themselves is a gold mine of information, and something I hope you keep doing more of! I fairly recently stopped trying to learn pattern after pattern, and really set myself to learning the note and intervallic makeup of everything I play and practice, letting the patterns happen more in the background. The difference to my understanding of what I'm working on has been HUGE. And I'm learning my keys, chords, and scales much better all over the neck (as well as simply learning the notes of the fretboard much, much better).
