I purchased a Musica professional plumbed in model, but had to order it through Italy as they were not imported into Australia in that configuration in 2020. The volumetric dosing has always been problematic for me and the only way to get it to work accurately is to first drain the steam from the hot water spigot then flush the group head. It would then work OK, but this is such a pain I just use it manually now. 4 years on and the Musica is still making great coffee and I am very happy with my purchase. I owned an Oscar for 15 years prior to the Musica and modified it to be plumbed in, Sirai pressurestat, vacuum breaker and over pressure valve, so it ened up very similar in spec to the Musica. It would have been great to have had the rotary pump option, but that was not available at the time.

Yes you can! emphasis on small. no more than 1-2 kg a day. or you'll need to upgrade quickly. Also -- take care of the machine. You may save money buying it over a larger commercial machine - but you'll need to spend some of the savings on maintenance 👌

Hi, it is true that the música remembers the last power state. Meaning that if the machine is on and you toggle off the switch in the back, when you toggle the switch again, the machine will be ready? I’m interested on this fact to use a programmable outlet to turn on the machine before I wake up

It will be interesting to compare. The Oscar Mood has PID control, the Musica Rotary is pressurestat. The rotary pump is more durable, but I think that PIDs and solid state relays are now more reliable than a mechanical pressurestat. I think the Oscar Mood is a really nice looking machine, and it is otherwise hard to find a coloured machine once you get into prosumer stainless steel machines.

I would love to see Nuova Simonelli offer a machine that blends the function of the Musica with the creature comforts of the Oscar Mood. * Rotary pump * Volumetric dosing * Programmable preinfusion * PID * Cool touch / no burn steam wand *Lever actuated steam * Shot timer * 3x Fully configurable auto on/off settings (time and duration) Already a great list of features they offer across semi-competing machines, just bring them together please NS! And maybe with a couple nice to haves: * Easy and external OPV access * Dual gauge pressure dial (Boiler and pump/group head) * Programmable eco mode * Mixed reservoir vs plumbable functionality

I feel ya 😂 even just those first four are a holy grail of a great machine - Rotary pump* Volumetric dosing* Programmable preinfusion* PID that's one expensive machine you just described though - even if not a Dual Boiler - that's easily a top of the line HX, I'd estimate at around $4k especially for a new release.

@@AlternativeBrewing but I’d happily pay that much for a respected name like Nuova Simonelli or profitec especially. The only modern machine that ticks most of those boxes is the crem one lineup (sub a $6000 dual boiler anyway) and I’m not sure yet if they’ve resolved their manufacturing issues. Profitec pro 400 is a good machine but seems a bit undersized for hosting the extended family. Would love to see the whole latte love version of the pro 500 come to Australia. It’s a difficult line to walk for manufacturers between features / capacity / value for money / reliability. I’m leaning heavily towards pulling the trigger on the Musica, albeit begrudgingly with a few compromises on features I wish it had from the Oscar Mood, as above. Any other suggestions Alternative Brewing?

What is the middle button in the second programming? You notice after activation that the water does not come down directly, and the time to turn it off from the programming, the water drops quickly, what is the benefit of that?

It is only found in the model Nuova Simonelli Musica LUX mentions the Rotary Pump. A regular Nuova Simonelli Musica LUX, although a newer upgrade model now, still consists of a vibratory pump.

I reached out to Seattle Coffee Gear (I purchased it through them) and they reached out to Nuova Simonelli USA directly, they informed us that the rotary pump is not offered in the US and they don't import them as of now. I appreciate your response!!

Im considering this Machine because it's easy to use and promises consistency. My home is in Bali and they have a distributor with service & guarantee. Is it an overkill for only 2 to 3 espresso in the morning and 3 espresso in the afternoon? Lelit is available as well I'm a bit in the middle of what type I should choose! would appreciate your thoughts. In general, it seems the workflow is easier with this Machine than with other machines? How long do the Machines take to be ready for an espresso?

15 the boiler be up to temp but i usually make at the 25min mark. 6 is ok for any heat exchanger. bezzera bz10 heats up faster but its another item to spoil. lelit is e61 a different set of problems). this machine, you may need to set higher temperature for lighter roast. if you know how to temperature surf, its a perfect machine. i just did my own servicing, its quite easy to do with a bit of plumbing knowledge and knowing how to read manuals.

Far better off buying a used Appia because it has standard parts which are available everywhere and anyone can fix this machine. BTW, the selection of coffee, water make a huge difference not to mention that your really need a commercial grinder with easily replaceable burrs.

id be careful with this. Most electrical good are okay👌 - though your machine may run under duress and cause fault after some time. Best to get the replacement/correct machine

yeah, 100% .... 3 seconds on - at line pressure than bumps up to full brew pressure - but it is default set is off - unless it was the machine I got... but it's super easy to turn on. Just go into program mode - next HOLD the Manual Brew button again and press the Water button at the same time 👍

Possibly - as long as those 100 cups are over the full day - and not all back to back - plus - 100 cups would be max! if your business grows - you're going to need another machine quickly !

I have 1 of those, previous version, the vibration pump. I have found that on the first brew, the first few seconds only steam came out of the group head. Is it normal?

That is standard heat exchanger behaviour. The boiler turns the water in the hot water line to steam. You need to purge the group head before you pull your first shot if you have left it for a while between shots.

Thanks for a 2022 review of the NS Musica! I've had mine (secondhand) since 2020 and been loving it. It does all the things said here and it's just a sweet machine for a no frills morning routine. That being said, my hot water spigot tends to sputter and spit sometimes on its first run, but after flushing once, its fine. Do you have that issue?

You're welcome ! Yes, this is occuring due to superheated water being dispensed in the lines initially. Once you begin draining the boiler and cooler water enters the boiler on refill - the water out of your hot water tap will calm down. Some espresso machines mix cooler water with boiler water - but the Musica is not of these - and the hot water is usually fat too hot to drink from straight out of the tap.

@@___kyungkyung there’s some vibration in the vibe pump that you don’t have in the rotary. This causes noise through the bench mostly. But Vibe pumps also noticeably begin to wear soon than a rotary pump, and will become slightly louder over time, sooner. There’s also a slight negative pulsating pressure to the vibes flow versus a rotary. Nothing huge, but noticeable. What effect this has on extraction I’ve never tested
