Nuremberg Telecommunications Tower: The Nürnberger Egg - Bavaria’s Tallest Structure!

Discover Bavaria’s tallest structure: the Nuremberg Telecommunications Tower, also known as the Nürnberger Egg! 🗼 Its unique tower pod gives it this nickname, and at a height of 293 meters, it is the third-tallest television tower in Germany - following the towers in Berlin and Frankfurt.
In the past, visitors could enter the tower and enjoy its highlights: a revolving restaurant that completed a full rotation every hour, and an observation deck offering breathtaking views over Nuremberg. Sadly, the tower is now closed. Despite numerous campaigns to reopen it, high costs have prevented its revival. It was opened just once for a special open-house day in 2015.
Today, the tower is owned by Deutsche Telekom and is listed as a Bavarian historical monument. While only a webcam now provides images from the top, the structure remains an iconic landmark and an integral part of Nuremberg’s skyline.
