Nurse killed during Arkansas grocery store shooting was helping other victim

Callie Weems is a hero! Unfortunately, some heros like her never have the opportunity to receive thanks for their heroism. She must have realized how dangerous it was for her to be rendering aid to a victim in those circumstances but she chose to give aid nevertheless. With so many shortcomings in humanity, including my own, I hope I will remember her courage and selflessness as an example of what I can and should do even in nonthreatening circumstances. Nurses do not get enough recognition as first responders. Most people that go into nursing are selfless caregivers and go into it automatically when there are emergencies. Lord bless this young mother and her child that will grow up not knowing her. 41 yrs in nursing here.

This is so heartbreaking. If she had kept a cooler head she could have stayed somewhere safe until the shooting stopped, and then tried to help where and how she could, maybe saved somebody, or not, but survived. Wanting to help others is great on paper, and especially in the virtue farming world, as we see from the comments, but in deadly circumstances like this people need to think of themselves and what is really important first. Shooting Response Training needs to reflect that. RIP, and condolences to the family.
