Annie Giang shares what inspired her to pursue the nurse-midwifery specialty in the UArizona College of Nursing’s Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program.
The new nurse-midwifery specialty in the UArizona College of Nursing is training nurse-midwives to fill the need for skilled health care providers. In addition to providing pre- and post-natal care and birthing services, nurse-midwives can provide primary care across the lifespan and address all aspects of reproductive and sexual health, including family planning, contraception, menopausal care and cancer screening. Care can be provided to individuals of all gender identities and sexual orientations in a variety of settings including patient homes, private practices, community health centers, ambulatory clinics, hospitals and birthing centers.
