@@opulence_prime Indeed. But, the same thing happened in my husband's family. His grandfather kept going back and forth with the payee. when he died, it was a random person...I believe there was some mental decline though.

That insurance policy is a joke...$10,000. By the time the family buries the father, they will not get anything. In fact, it will probably cost more to bury the father nowadays! If the insurance money is all they are fighting over, it is a moot point. They all need to get together as a family and spend the rest of the days the father has in peace and harmony...for his sake.

My mom passed away in 2007 and she had life insurance policies and they all were split between me and my siblings. I had 3 children before my mom passed away. So what I did with that money was split the money between the three children I had in savings accounts. So when I had 3 more children what me and my my husband did was put the same exact amount of money in their savings just like the other children. I didn’t need the money because me and my husband makes good money and I didn’t feel the need for it. I never would want my kids fighting over money, land and properties and businesses we own. Me and my husband has taken care of everything just in case we pass away. Which I doubt they would be in court going through this with one another. I have two grown children that have became very successful far as owning their own businesses, land and property as well. So we’re teaching them to keep the businesses and money in the family. Pass it down to their kids and if you don’t have any pass it down to your nieces and nephews or other siblings. Me and my husband worked very hard and we’re definitely proud of our children and who they’ve become today.

I'd NEVER do that to someone that I love!!! The ONLY time that my family has put someone in a nursing home during my life, aside from a brief stay to recover from a surgery or something like that, was my grandmother who had Alzheimer's and it was done VERY reluctantly when we just couldn't care for her ourselves anymore. We all made sure to visit her regularly, me especially and we didn't just abandon her or anything like that. She only had short-term memory problems, so she'd forget a conversation you held with her, but not us. We used that to our advantage to hide her condition from her: none of us could bring ourselves to tell her the truth about her illness so we pretended that she was only there for weeks rather than a few years. It was hard, but I think it was for the best: she wouldn't have taken being there for years well and she deserved to not be burdened by the knowledge of her memory issues. She was there for a few years before she passed. Somehow, just a few days before she died, she found out the truth about how long she'd been there. We never found out how. All we know is that she called me that night (and I'm ALSO not sure why she didn't just call my dad, her son) demanding to know why she'd been in the home for years. It was the last time I talked to her. The next day while I was at work, she left me a beautiful message about how much she loved me. And she was gone the day after that.

This brought tears to my eyes because I too am taking care of my 88 yr old father now who also had a stroke in 2016 and as a result has dementia and can't speak as well, but can still move around and do things for himself. My mom passed away last year in October 2021 from dementia. My siblings and I were at odds the same way due to the superiority complex they suffer from unbeknownst to them because of their own denial. They thought my mom was putting on so when she passed away, reality finally set in on those who felt this way. My mom married my father at the age of 26. My dad was already married before with 7 children. When my 7 older siblings biological mother passed, my mom stepped in and raised them as her own and went on to birth myself and 2 other siblings making it 11 of us. My mom had 1 of my older brothers at age 18. But, my parents married and raised us all as 1. But, the point is, after my mom no longer could care for my dad, we all had a role to play. Most of my sisters live out of state. I actually was living with my parents at the time so I had no problem caring for them, the issue was that I wasn't good enough in their eyes. I am a single mom with 3 kids of my own and I work 2 jobs to keep the bills paid. I am still here with my dad and will not allow him to go into a nursing home because I feel like he should not have to be in a facility. My mom took very good care of my dad, almost 60 yrs together as well as all of us and she would want us to continue on with his care and getting along with one another. My dad is also a bishop so we have a Christian upbringing also. My dad deserves to be cared for by us to the best of our ability, no question. I have my children helping out as well so they understand the labor of love. I just pray for the strength and courage to keep going because it is not easy. I commend this young lady and her daughter for the courage and love to be able to do what they're doing. Sometimes we do have to make sacrifices in our lives for others, especially when it comes to our mothers and fathers, we wouldn't be here without our parents, so to be able to care for them during their last days is an honor. Sorry for so much writing, but I truly felt this story because I'm living through a similar situation as well and I just want this young lady to know that she is not alone. I am praying for her and to hold on, a change is coming ❤️🙏🏾
