Hey Melissa, I enjoy all your videos. Question, how bad it is once the clinicals start? I'm concerned that Chamberlain can send you to different cities, states for clinicals. Did this happen to you? Can you please talk about it? If this is true, I can't move forward with my application 😔.

Hey! Thank you for watching! So typically clinical sites will not be farther than a certain mile radius from the campus. I’m not sure what that radius is though, so you will have to check with the campus that you are applying to. I attend the Tysons Corner campus that is located in northern Virginia… So, even though my campus is in Virginia, the Maryland state line and the DC border are VERY close to school… So all of the clinical site associated with my campus are either in Maryland, DC, or Virginia. So even though clinical sites in Maryland, and DC are technically out of state, some of the sites in Maryland may only be like 20 minutes from campus. From personal experience, most of my clinical sites have been between about 30-40 minutes from my home. BUT I have had two clinicals where I’ve had to travel over 2 hours one way - in both of those instances, the hospitals were about 45 minutes to an hour away from campus… but since I live about an hour away from campus in the opposite direction, it created a long commute for me. Honestly, a lot of it will likely come down to where your campus is located and how far away you live from campus. I would advise you to reach out to an advisor and ask about clinical sites and where they’re located… And I would also encourage you to join a Facebook group for your local campus, and ask people about how far they had to travel to get a better idea. I know that was long, but I hope it helps!

As always thank you so much for sharing your journey and experience. I am at the CLT, NC campus and similar to you I was given credit for AP 1/2, and I will be starting AP 3/4 at Chamberlain. May I email you for any suggestions or tips on how you prepared coming into the middle of a year class? I am very nervous about this. Congrats on your new home! Sending you prayers for a wonderful week off, and upcoming session starting on the 10th.

I’m at University of Detroit Mercy, and their flex-time program has become more of a hindrance for me than it has been beneficial. They revolve our schedule around the traditional students’ schedule, so we end up with classes in the middle of the day. Because my job is getting rid of overnight and weekend shifts, I’m considering switching to Chamberlain’s evening/weekend program. What time do the evening classes typically start? I work from home, so if I can find a way to stay with my company, I would consider switching schools.

I’m so sorry that happened… That sucks. My evening class is a Chamberlain always start at 6 PM. They end up varying times, but they always start at six.

@@theluckienurse thank you! I guess once I jump through all the hoops, it could be an option for me to transfer. I noticed I’ll have to take standardized tests for some of my nursing courses to transfer, while others I’ll have to retake 👎🏼

@@tammyyousif10 Yeah, unfortunately nursing credits cannot be transferred in- But this is the case for every nursing school I believe. When are you supposed to graduate?

Do you feel like the edapts, the practice test and ati prepared you more than the lecture for the cms? Congrats on passing peds btw 🎉

Not at all! One of my friends in class used dynamic practice tests and study questions from ATI to prepare for the CMS, and she did the best in the entire class! And thank you!

Hi girl, i am planning enrollment at chamberlain university but i got a question, does it good to become LPN first or direct entry in the nursing program at chamberlain ?
@theluckienurse
@theluckienurse Жыл бұрын
Hey! To be honest, being an LPN first doesn’t really give you a leg up when applying to nursing school. I do have a couple of LPNs in my cohort, and it didn’t make a difference in the admission process. In general, I would advise becoming a registered nurse through an ADN or a BSN program and skip over becoming an LPN if you are able to. In most settings and most areas in the country, LPNs are being phased out unless they are a nurse who has YEARS of experience. Even then, they are extremely limited in what they can do and how much money they can make.

This depends on what state you live in and what school you go to. My local Public college has a bridge LPN to RN Associated Degree program. If your an LPN with the appropriate prerequisite the RN program is only a year. Every State has different scope of practice for LPNs. No part of nursing will ever be phase out. CNA, LPN, RN,ARNP, CRNA, It comes down to your personality , your current Life situation & how you personally want to navigate the field of Nursing.
@theluckienurse
@theluckienurse Жыл бұрын
@@islandgirlforever2868 I agree, it heavily depends on what area you live in! I’m in the DC metropolitan area and here LPNs can only work in nursing homes or for home health agencies, and in most nursing homes they cannot be in leadership positions. Unless it’s a bridge program (LPN to RN) like you mentioned, most schools will not give you an advantage with acceptance for being an LPN. Chamberlain (at least my campus) does not, but there may be some schools out there that do!
