Compound bows are always strung and under flexion, and high temps may cause limbs to creep over time, even if theyre high quality.

You mentioned traditional wood vs. modern bows, but how resistant to temperature changes are bows (yeah, like the Samick Sage...) with composite fiberglass/wood limbs? I've been trying to figure out how susceptible mine is to warping, but I can't decide if the wood or the laminate would be the more important variable. Thanks!

Coupe years ago our club was robbed. They took the vault, a box of change money and even a box of potato chips. T Luckily they did not steal any bows. After renovations we no longer allow our members to keep bows there. Only club initiation bows are now stored there. I will leave my bow in my car while at work since my parking garage is well surveilanced.

Probably shouldn't leave the bow in your car anymore now that you made this video lol

Hi NUSensei. Would you say the same rules apply for winter cold, e.g. -20 Celsius or a moist rainy day? I have the same dilemma each time whether I can leave my bow for several hours in the car or take it to work as I go for my shooting straight after it.
@NUSensei7 жыл бұрын
Cold isn't a problem for bows. Heat is the main concern. High heat will affect the glue that holds that laminate layers together

Storing a bow in cold conditions is alright but make sure it warms up before using it. A frozen bow will snap or crack when shooting stress is applied. Especially in extreme Canadian temperatures. -40 celcius etc.

Hey NUSensei, I know it's not your field, but do you think humid climates like India are too much a problem for composite bows?

Is it illegal to keep a bow in your car? Idc if it gets damaged they’re like 200 bucks fk it

In australia there is no legislation regarding safe storage of bows (both traditional and compound) So I doubt the police would give you any trouble if they saw it on your back seat during a traffic stop

In your car your bow WILL be stolen. Not CAN be, absolutely WILL be. No doubt. 😅It´s just so obvious you live in America... Thanks for the good information though that one made me laugh.

I live in Australia. I'm not sure if I made this video for that reason, but around this time our top national shooter had his gear stolen from his car.

Obvious? It's obvious he's from Australia, he doesn't sound American at all.

it is a weapon at the foremost reality, It should be stored in a locked box Ah if dealing with laminated woods likely delaminate.. under heat.. like with rifles it should be under lock and key.. No matter what the law states in your state, territory or protectorate of australia commonsense you store it in the correct manner, I know of people who hunt with 40lbs bows and I would label these as weapons and a tool.. it is up to you at the end of the day on what you will do though i do recommend that the bow and arrows be kept under lock and key in a lock box of some type this way you cover yourself legally because legally if unsecured and somebody steals it and commit a murder with it you can and will be find liable for the death and may face gaol time for your storage incompetency ... .. Because it hasn't happened yet only time will tell when it does actually happen, be prepared for the legal backlash.. Due to the theft angle proper storage is a mandatory requirement of these things, as you can't use complacency as a legal defense when the bow and arrow gets stolen and an illegal action happens after the fact.. Something you will need to consider if you get something like this stolen and you lodge a theft report, the mere fact you left it unsecured in the 1st place may lead to legal ramifications in future for you...

On that note, bow crime is unsuprisingly low in the US, despite the affordability and ease at which they can be purchased at most sporting stores. Possibly because bows are rather unwieldy to use in the commission of most violent crimes. If I were to think like a bow thief, the last thing i'd be using it for is committing violent crime. It'd sooner end up on Ebay or the local thrift shop

You don’t need to keep a rifle locked in a case it can be in your whip as long as there’s nothing in the chamber and it’s out of your reach

As long as you have the guns information and give that info to the police when it’s stolen your covered
