About 20 years too late, the single stack Glock 43 finally arrived. The Glock 43 arrives late to the game and has to shove its way into the established and excellent competition of the S&W Shield, Springfield XDS, Walther PPS, KelTec PF9, Kahr series (true innovators), Ruger LC9S, and more. But once past that you will find this mini Glock very well designed and capable. Possessing the hardcore Glock attributes of Tennifer slide, CHF polygonal rifled barrel, striker fired operation, and squared trigger guard (yes!), we found the G43 to a winner. It never jammed, was accurate, and represents good value. Firepower is 6 rds with options available to increase it. In many POUs I still rec' the Glock 26 over the Glock 43 and that is my frequent carry pistol. It's slimness makes it a better choice for IWB carry. This along with SAWC, ergos, accessories, holsters, whether you should trade in your carry choice for a G43, and more is discussed in this free review.

Choose the largest gun (with the most capacity best sight picture etc) that you will carry every day. From a Glock perspective If you are comfortable carrying a glock 19 everyday - choose that. If you won't carry it reliably but will carry the 26 reliably - choose that. If not go to the 43 and if not go to the 42. A 42 everyday is better than a 19 every third day.

I was at a Glock LEO instructor workshop at the Glock factory in Smyrna in 2010. While I was there they brought out some of the big guys from the company and introduced them. When they asked if there were questions, I raised my hand and asked why there was no single stack Glock that was close to the 19 or 26 in size. They all looked at each other and said "there is no market for one, and it would be a failure in sales. I shook my head, everyone in the class gave a "whaaa?" And that was that. Now here we are with the 42 and 43...I guess they realized they were missing part of the pie (as was said).

Yep we should have had this gun 15 years ago. But it's here now and it's jumping into a "shark tank" of competition. How does it stack up against key 9mm competitiors and was it worth the wait are covered here. Mrs Nutnfancy loves the Glock 43 and I too could not help but be impressed.

love your videos but I think the term " this gun is accurate" is misused. there are guns that are easier to shoot than others but counting that the sights are no off, accuracy rest on the shooter like the old saying. it's the Indian, not the arrow

+shakeyfly Shot them all last night (as well as a few others). Of the ones you asked about, the PPS or Glock were the best (for me). Didn't care for the way the Shield felt in my hand. PPS trigger was surprisingly great - like butter - and had the least recoil and excellent accuracy. The Glock was very accurate, too, and felt like I was shooting my Glock 30, but with less recoil. :) Can't go wrong with either. Plus, with Glock, you know there will be a ton of accessories for it soon. In the end, shoot them all and see which ones are best for you. Check out the Springfield XDs, too. Good luck.

+shakeyfly I too live in the people's rebuild of Massachusetts. Here's how it works. If you can find a place selling a Glock, you are gonna get one with a New York trigger in it (10 lbs) but you pop 3 pins and change it. I have no courses and I can do it in 5 mins. The Walter pps comes with a heavy trigger. They make a lighter one but will not even ship it to FFLs in Mass. The shield comes with a compliant trigger, but you can spend $70 to put an apex kit in (this is complicated and I don't even try to do it myself). So no matter how you slice the pie it sucks

See I would disagree, I would rather have the 43. I've tried the 26 and the 43, but I shoot the 43 better. I like the slim profile for IWB carry. However I respect your decision to stay with the 26 because at the end of the day you have to feel comfortable with the gun you want to use. For me, I think the 26 is harder for me to control it's just too thick for the amount of grip, it's to the point where I don't feel as in control so that's why I chose the 43. I just carry three magazines plus one in the gun. 6+6+6+ (6+1) So 25 rounds. Not to bad for most situations.

I am smaller guy and have small hands, and own the G26 and the G17. As nutt'n says it is chunky. The G43 and G42 are just right, I don't think it is a ladies gun. Hell there is a guy on youtube that is 6'-8"! He loves small guns!

David, 6+6+6+(6+1) is allot for me to consider carrying around and lots of reload. Why do that when I could just 12+(12+1) be in it longer with just one reload? To Each Their Own.

I bought mine in November of this year. I put a Pearce +1 base plate on the magazines and I absolutely love this gun. It is such a light, comfortable carry that I always have it on -- and yes, that includes my pajamas with the TactiPac Elite holster. Pros: Recoil is really light compared to others in this class. Light weight. 9 mm. Slim. Easily concealable, yet the grip is just large enough to accommodate my larger hands. Comfortable enough to wear all day every day. Cons: The only con I can think of is that it is so new on the market that you still may have trouble finding accessories, like holsters, etc.. HOWEVER, I picked up a Viridian R5 ECR laser for it and the holster that comes with it absolutely ROCKS! Auto on laser, hybrid belt slide holster with the the right cant. It is incredible!

That is so cool you got your wife involved and she likes shooting too. I finally got my wife into shooting 2 years ago and she dived right into it like a champ. it makes life so much easier for me now when I buy ammunition or other firearms she digs it and makes life a lot easier, just the other day I came home and she bought me a new AR 500 gong. I couldn't be a happier man I don't have to tiptoe around trying to convince her of a new purchased ,she's on my side.

Late to the party? Get a reality grip guys. When "the babe" shows up 15-30 min. late to the party don't you stand up a little straighter, flex in the shirt, rearrange your package, offer to get her a beverage? Be thankful she even showed up. She is the Glock 43! This is an excellent gun, worthy of our consideration.

I would have looked at this gun when I was in the market for a single stack 9. Unfortunately the glock 43 didn't exist 8 months ago, and my shield checks all the boxes. Simple put, there is nothing the G43 can do, that the shield can't. I'll keep my trusty shield and the extra $$$. You can't beat a refreshing TNP GRV, that grounds everything in reality. Just wish more subs would watch the vids, it's the least we can do for this outstanding FREE source of priceless info, adventure, and humor.

Btw, disagree slightly on the 42. I think your views were accurate at the time but there are a few and I mean only a few exceptions to ammunition which I believe make the G42 an acceptable carry option. Those are the Underwood Xtreme Penetrator, Lehigh Xtreme Penetrator, and the Polycase ARX inceptor. All three offer excellent penetration 12 inches or more in gel, excellent barrier penetration, and velocity (lots of damage). They will compare to most average hollow points in performance. military arms channel and shooting the bull have excellent videos to back up these claims. I already had a shield and a 42 when the 43 came out. Regardless I was super excited to get one. Once I held it if felt almost the same at my shield, my shield was actually more comfortable. Plus it's a lot less. You could add night sights and a nice holster for what you'd pay for a 43. Both feel much heavier than the 42. I carry the 42 the most because I'm always in shorts and flip flops. You don't even know the 42 is there. I carry ARX inceptor and I am thinking about changing the magazine feed to "Magguts" which offers you 7+1 with just a few part swaps. I think this combo is the best for lightweight EDC.

Thanks for getting the G43 review out for us Nut'n. I can't own one (Cali) so its easy for me to say I'll stick with the G27. Still, my latest purchases are a CZ P01 and a G23. I already have a single stack Glock, the original, the G36. 45 acp is uber sexy and if I'm going to short myself on # of rounds, I'll take bigger and badder. BTW, I love both of the Kahrs that I have owned the P380 and the CW9. Gave the CW9 to my Dad for one of his CCWs. Different (but great) trigger on the Kahrs and the only negative for me would be the price of magazines when you compare them to a Glock.

Tried as much as I could to keep my PF9. After way too many failure to feed problems, and a complete lack of support from Kel-Tec to fix the problem, I gave up and sold it. Too bad. It was a great size for deep concealed carry, and obviously comfortable to carry. Rocking a Glock 26 for the time being, or my Sig P250, which I actually love.

Kept mine pretty stock with a cerakote for protection and from holster wear along with XS big dots for rapid target pickup. I have a Springfield XDs 4" that i keep in case the Shield ever goes down; but has never happened yet.

I have and use a Galco Classic horizontal shoulder holster. It fits my Sig P226 Mk25, G17, G19, and G26. I carry a total of three G19 15rd mags with X-Grip adapters. This holster system using a G17 allows me to carry two additional magazines with a maximum carry of 52rds. I love this holster and it works well. When the temps go above 60 degrees I can no longer cover it with a light vest. I am your height but out weight you by more (a lot more) than a few pounds. Thanks for the informative video.

wiryone1 I have been carrying Kahr's for years. First a PM9, then upgraded to the PM40 as soon as it came out (didn't even have to change holsters) and then to the PM45, which I carry everyday now. I only carried the PM9 because it was as small or smaller than most .380s at the time. I don't really consider the 9mm much of an improvement but certainly better than the .380. I had carried a G32 in .40S&W or .357 SIG prior to that, and still do if I know I'm going to be in a questionable area. The PM45 is a nice compromise as it is a little smaller than the G32 and packs enough punch for a EDC blaster. I carry it in a home-made Kydex/leather IWB Tuckable rig. I'm a large guy so I can conceal a full size 1911 with no problem, but prefer the Kahr PM45 due to its size and weight. I have a hard time even understanding all the hullaballoo over any 9mm as a EDC. Like Nutn, I'd say the new single stack Glock 9mm makes a very nice ladies gun. I'd prefer the G26 for the extra bullets and the ability to use full or mid-size Glock mags. I had a G27 several years ago and got rid of it because I can shoot better with the G32/23 and can conceal it just as easily. Same goes for the G26--if I was stuck with shooting a 9mm, I'd ditch the G26 ane carry a G19. I'm a factory certified Glock armorer and the G27 is the only Glock I've ever gotten rid of, and I own about a dozen--none of them are 9mm.

Was waiting and waiting for the G43. I carried the beretta nano for over and was ready to trade it in for a G43 when I could find one. The beretta nano had 1500 rounds through it, I still was having occasional FTF and my follow up shots were not good for me. I decided to rent a Glock 26 and my first time ever shooting it I filled a 2 inch circle. I traded the nano for a glock 26 gen4. I compared the both and found my grip and sight alignment was much better with the 26, and since I carry AIWB printing was not noticed. The glock 26 made even more sense to fit my firearm system. 2 pistols,2 carbines, all 9mm and all use the same magazines. This works for me.

thanks for the vid Nutn! I agree the G43 is a great gun from all reports, but I've no plans to sell my PPS for one. Late to the party, thicker in profile, and PPS came with 7+1 mags. Heck these days my main carry choice is actually a Gen4 G19 in a Crossbreed Supertuck IWB holster! With the expandable waistline of the 5.11 Tac Lite pants and shorts that I wear, I hardly notice a difference between it and my PPS. Might as well take more firepower where possible, right?! Keep up the great work man!

AirForceAce3571 I'm hoping this comment sticks to the top somewhere- We've been fighting about it lately. I think most people watching this already have a single stack 9, and there are a ton of people asking if they should swap out their current platform for the glock. (For me, no way. I have bad grip on these smaller guns, so I like some aggressive traction on it and the little 43 is almost carved out of soap.) It fits well in the hand, but it doesn't do anything any better or worse than the XD-S, PPS, or shield you already have. I'd assume most of the people here already have something like the 17,19,26, and 43 in whatever assortment of mfrs., so there's really little to be gained by grabbing this. I would advocate everyone getting a g26 though, just for those rare times (looking at you, abandoned parking lot craigslist sales) when there's a greater than 10% chance of gunfightin'. I hold with you- I love the PPS. Love the feel, the little sculpting to lock your fingers in, the ease of shooting, even the slightly large and high sizing. But it's the one I'm comfy with, and it fits my paddle hands. -Doodle

Long time Glock 19 owner here but I carried/carry the XDs on a regular basis. I really wanted to buy the 43 when it came out so I went to my LGS and took a look at it. I was about 80% ready to walk out the door with it then I decided to go with the Glock 26. There is so little difference in size that its almost a bad decision NOT to go with a 26. I got a chance to shoot the 43 next to my Shield two range trips ago. I liked it. It is a good choice, but I shot the Shield faster (time between shots) and more accurately. Now I realize that some of that is probably because I am use to it, and because the trigger has lightened and smoothed out over the last 6,500 rounds (and countless dry fires), and of course the extra few ounces helps with the split times, but I see no reason to change.

So what if you're a Glock Fanboy? It's okay, really it is. The word "fanboy" has become so cliche, I cringe anytime I hear it. Either that or "Mack Daddy". Why do you feel the need to explain or otherwise defend yourself? I'm with Gibbs on this. Never apologize. It's a sign of weakness. Now on to the 43. Some people will complain about it only being 6+1. Well buy a Glock 17 then. Did I mention they carry a 5-shot .38 revolver? The single stack 9mm was introduced well over 100 years ago. Long before many of those "true innovators" were born...their dads either. Yes, even Walther was "late to the game" in 1908. Moon's dad wasn't even born yet and the legendary 1911 was still a dream yet be realized(long sigh). Look, it comes down to this...Not everybody wants a Shield, XDS, LC9. S or no S. A huge chunk of the gun buying public weren't old enough to buy a Glock 43 15 years ago. I know people in their 40's, 50's and above that are buying for the very first time. A friend of mine had never even seen a gun up close a year ago, now she's taking classes. As far as the shark tank, sure there are a lot of choices, but most people don't look that far. Most people really don't know where to start, so they buy a Glock because that's what the police carry, so it must be good. Or, my dad always bragged about his Smith and Wesson or because it's pink or FDE. Another reason....wait for it...because it was cheap. It was shiny and a guy at work only wanted 50 bucks for it. They have no idea what it is or what caliber it is. Only that it was 50 bucks. If you like something, fine. I'm good with that, whether it's a Dan Wesson, a Glock or a Hi-Point. Just go with it. Don't apologize. It's okay, really it is.

Good to see Mrs. Nutn again. I know that others have compared the G43 to the LC9, but you have this habit of coming up with different perspectives on guns that a lot of other reviewers don't get. I would like to see your thoughts on the LC9 Pro vs the G43. I think that would be a good examination, I know I'd like to see that. Thanks for all the vids and the wisdom. Keep up the good work!!!

That's a great suggestion and I will see if I can get those guns. The LC9S is an improvement from what I know...but why didn't Ruger get it right to begin with? You see this screws original LC9 purchasers and then these early adopters are stuck with an inferior gun. Ruger should have FREE upgrade program for these guys. I do have original takes on the guns, thanks and that's another reason I often wait for my gun review to come out. If I post it earlier, other Channels, blogs, and magazines (like Guns and Ammo) will parrot those takes in their reviews with no credit given to TNP. It's happened a lot.

MonGo WonGo Yup, like all the designs (at least the ones I do) I do them for my own stuff, then usually add 80 or so to my order and get the rest up there. It's fun to do the design stuff and make them rare, but I've given in as of late- we'll have some more up soon. The blue/orange probably won't be coming back, NF said they wouldn't sell when I got my batch, citing market pref. for FDE. They were cool though. -TD

I carry IWB. In the Minnesota winter there's enough layers my Glock 26 goes unnoticed. In the summer, I switch to a Shield (picked from your Shield video vs the XDS video). Before that I used a PPK, but the Shield is a bigger caliber and barely any larger. Going to pass on the 43 when the Shield works so well, and the Shield can be found for so much less i would still pick the shield over the 43 if I didn't have a Shield already.

I put a ghost edge connector in mine, and it made a MUCH better trigger pull. I know some people are scared of modifying pistols, with some valid reasons lawyer wise, but at least Ghost markets this connector as being for defense, while Glock markets it's lighter connectors as being for competition. Might make a difference to some.

+Kevin C. Compared to the 43, absolutely. Compared to nothing at all...absolutely NOT. I got the PF9 when it was all I could afford. Glad I got and was glad I had it even though I never needed to use it for self defense. When the money was there I got something better. They only suck in that they're a pain to shoot. I shot mine so much my assembly pin snapped. Never, out of over a thousand rounds, probably closer to 13 to 1400, did I ever have a failure to eject, load....nothing. Once I accidently pushed the mag release button when I first got it. That's the only "failure to load" I've ever had. They're certainly NOT range guns. They're cheap. If you've got 350 bucks you can be armed, with some rounds and cheap holster. My obvious point being, it's WAY better than nothing. That being said, I just picked up my new 43 today. MASSIVELY more comfortable to shoot.

+Kevin C. For true daily front pocket 9mm carry, only the PF9 and PM9 are small enough and light enough to make the cut (from my experience). The PF9 works reliably, which is something to be said for such as low cost gun. If you have the $$$ for a PM9, then by all means go for it. If you are on a tight budget, the PF9 will do the job.

If you don't already have a single stack 9mm, the Glock 43 is a great option. It's not worth replacing what you already have with it. BUT - the Taran Tactical +1 floorplate makes it 7+1 and adds NO extra length to the pistol. I like mine Glock 43 a lot and I didn't think I would, I too was not all that enthusiastic about it at first but it has grown on me.

The vast majority of people do NOT carry shoulder holster, so I think your comment about the thickness being important for IWB is apt to the masses. The thing I find interesting is the continued theme of "are the benefits worth going down from a 26 to a 43?", but in my mind the bigger question is "why go from a 19 to a 26" given the same thickness. To me the 19 has a place and the 43 has a place and the 26 is the odd man out. That being said, I have a lot of glocks and like them all and can see why anyone would have a slightly different take on it.

I see what your saying 19/43 and you bring out good points. However, while the 43 has the thin profile, the 26 has capacity plus compatibility with the 19. That's why I would call the 43 the odd man out. If you own the 17 or 19 and then pick up a 26,depending on Gen,you already have 4-6 mags for the 26. I love the 43,but traded up for the 26 lol. To each their own,all 3 are great Glocks!

nutnfancy, I love your gun reviews actually tried to get you to come out to a gun rally for the 223 back in 2012. I spoke to tacticaldoodle and you guys were too busy at that point. I just wanted to emphasize the critical update of a new video that emphasizes the reason to carry a lot higher capacity and cc higher powered weapons on an everyday basis now due to the ISIS threat. like you I am a Utahn, and I truly believe in the Second Amendment as well as the ability to carry a weapon to protect yourself as well as your family. The government is trying to strip us from his rights in any way that they can. although the fight might not come to our state a lot sooner than those more communist in liberal states. I won't mention anybody named cough cough California cough cough NewYork cough cough New Jersey cough cough Illinois. I really feel that we as gun owners and 2nd amendment lovers in constitutionalist need to band together and really understand the true evil that is trying to be done in our world today. Keep up the good work and I would love to speak with you.

Dude, when are we going to see you doing a P320 review? I suspect you'll really like it! As much as you dig the P250, the P320 is just over the top. I was hesitant on it at first, but now I've fallen in love with the platform. I have the full size and compact currently, and soon to acquire the subcompact. Smooth cycling, accurate, and superb trigger. I don't really care about the modular frame design other than it's cool to pick up extras cheap and stipple or paint them... then if you decide to sell it later, a new frame is like $43 and the gun looks good as new. Really hoping you'll do a review on it man. Keep up the good work.

My philosophy of practice is the more standardized i can be in my systems and or arsenal the better outcome (the "KISS" principle). A few years ago I sold all my non glock pistols and added a G23.(with a 22 cal adapter Nutn recommended) Have a PF9 and ruger LCP too, because of glock's tardiness. In keeping with my mind set of standardization I will get the G43 because.... Same grip angle controls sighting system ergo etc. etc. for all my pistols; G22,G23.G27 soon to be added G43, the ruger lcp is hard to beat, tiny tiny, accurate and it puts the G42 to shame in size and weight and it just flat out preforms, never had a mechanical issue and to quote some dude on the internet, "amazing accuracy. What ever I carry to the extent possible my muscle memory from practice with any of my Glocks will be with me. An Old man ex-cop who I used to go to the range with in South Florida said fear a man with one gun {cause he can practice with only one gun and he might become good with "It" too}, that said different tools for different jobs but standardized where ever poss. Boring, yes maybe? a glock boy yes I'm OK with that, but if I need to drive a nail, my hammers, no matter the size (except for the LCP) all will strike the nail the same, or as close to the same as possible. as always good review..

The XS Big dots are a nice option for $85. Great sight for ranges you would expect to use this gun. Very fast to focus on front sight. Just practice lining up the rear sight and after 100 rounds or so of that muscle memory kicks in and you can really get really fast combat accurate shots and 15 feet and in.

I agree with ya ,..lots a early hoopla on some guns, ie; First I got a PF-9,...malfunctioned via weak extractor spring ,..fixed it but that goes in the Fun drawer,..if it proves itself reliable again,.. maybe Ill carry it because it is a super summer gun for carry ease. Then I got the Shield and still love it ,carry it everyday.. don't regret it, and will most likely never sell it,..

Great review dude! You said it best regarding the G26, why in 2015 are we willing to go backwards in firepower? I'm not an expert, but I can't wrap my head around cutting my round count in half. Let the dust settle and I think this mentality will fade. We all love having a new gun, but I don't see the point in this fad.

OK Nutn, I am not 6'-1 or 2" tall, I'm only 5'-7" and have smallish hands (about 6" from tip of middle finger to bottom of the palm) and the Glock 43 and PF9 size pistols work great for me. I own two Glocks, one is a 26 gen4 and the other is a 17 gen3 both great guns and would never sell them. For me just for protection a 43 style gun would be great as I would always have it on. I carried the 26 for one year straight and I was always be tugging and adjusting around it and a shoulder holster was out because of the cover garment. If OC was more acceptable, I would do that.
