Just ordered the MAP 3500, my first official purchase of a Nutnfancy reviewed item and i must say, I am excited with the results. I've been watching your videos for quite some time and i thoroughly enjoy them. Keep up the good work in the project Nutn!!

Thank you for organizing this discount. I have been looking at the pack for 2 years now. As soon as you posted the video I purchased the MAP in Foliage Green. Choosing the color was difficult for me. I wanted a pack that does not stand out in an urban environment, yet is still functional on those day hikes. 48 hours after ordering, I have the pack in my hands. The foliage green was a great choice. In my mind it does not scream tactical, but will blend in great on those hunting trips.

I almost bought a 5.11 Rush12 pack, and after this review I realized how the MOLLE was excessive. Glad I watched, just placed my order, and I'm going to get many years of use from mine in coyote brown. Thanks for the deep discount, it made this purchase sound more reasonable to my wife.

I love this pack! Just bought it using the Nutnfancy 25% off code (only available during October) and it is everything I needed and more. Right now it replaced my old EDC bag and feels lighter even though the pack itself is slightly heavier. The straps are nice and thick. The pockets are all nice and big. In 1 month this will be my diaper bag/EDC bag to boot! Thanks again for another stellar product and the discount hook-up!

Have to say this video made me decide to get a Kelty Map. Bought it to replace my camelbak motherlode that I purchased in 2007 for my tour to Iraq, still use it to carry everything with me to work. I wanted something little less military looking and this will be great for some iver night camping trips too. With the quality I had with the kelty falcon im sure I won't be disappointed with the kelty map.

I got Kelty calypso daypack around ten years. I use it everyday ,heavy use. All my previous packs from other companies broke or ripped in less than a couple years. I was surprised by the durability of the Kelty brand. Worth the money.

I'm sure there are plenty of ultralight backpackers that could use a pack of that size. However, it's likely that the pack itself would prove to be too heavy for many individuals with that mindset. Just this past weekend I was doing an overnight on the AT and witnessed a bunch of southbounders at the shelter I tented near with amazingly small packs. After 1000 miles on the trail, they truly have their system down to a science. Cool stuff. Thanks for the vid.

I just got my Kelty MAP in today and so far it seems really well put together. We'll see how it holds up. It's replacing a totally trashed 11 year old Lowe alpine bag that smells like gasoline and looks pink because it's so faded. Thanks for the discount!!

Great video... Kelty packs are awesome and I love my MAP 3500 in multicam. You can stuff this pack full and it keeps on going. From a day hike in the woods to a get home bag in your car/truck the MAP 3500 is a great choice.

I am 6'1" 185 lbs. I have had this pack in grey for a year. This pack works great as a daily bag, vacation (Disneyland) bag. For an overnighter, yes this works great. If you have a ultralightweight mindset, it will work for a multiday. Otherwise don't expect to fit a weekend long loadout with a tent, sleeping bag, pad, and food + water in this pack without seriously planning ahead.

I have the redwing 44, in fact I used it today. Great day pack. I was packing 23 lbs, felt like a feather. You can do a lot of scrambling with this pack. I'd hate to lose those side pockets. They really come in handy. Oh, I paid $69. The 50 was $79. That's wicked value!

I bought the MAP 3500 in Multicam a few weeks ago and was lucky enough to get it on a sale and I got a free 100oz bladder. This pack is awesome, the bigger pouch inside fits my 15" screen laptop no problem and I love how it opens up. I can lay out everything where I want it to go. The pack can definitely carry more than what it looks like it can due to the compression straps. I havent gone on any 3 day excursions yet, I doubt its made for that, but a day/2 day pack, definitely.
@navyvet059 жыл бұрын
it is a multi day pack. u can pack enough food and water and gear to last u 3-4 days, easily. just bc u need everything in the house but a kitchen sink when u go out into the field doesnt mean everyone else does. ive taken the rush 24 out for 2 days and i had plenty of room for food water and gear. worked just fine

it is a multi day pack. when they say multi day pack they mean u can pack 3 days worth of food, ammo, water, socks, gear and other shit. its not a 3 day camping pack where u need a bedroll, pots and pans and tents. its big enough for a 3 day mission and it is. its not a camping pack.

The thing to keep in mind, is that the military use for the assault pack is to carry extra sustainment and ammo for an assault for 72 hours without resupply. But what they take into account is that soldiers carry much of their gear dispersed on their rigs and belts, an the assault pack is secondary. They also do the "travel light and freeze at night" thing. They carry enough shelter to keep them alive, not really comfortable. This is a good size to cinch down for EDC or use as a weekender.

Thanks for the review Nutn! I'm actually considering getting a Kelty Redwing 50 for use during day hikes too, so I'd love to see an update review on that pack separately if you can fit it in. Also on the 5.11 RUSH series, I have the RUSH 12 (smallest version) and while it is heavy for hiking etc. it rocks as an EDC pack for daily commuting or as a carry on for flying, which is what I use it for. works good for distance cycling too. It's good just needs right the POU.

For the last 5 years I have chosen Osprey for 3 of the 4 packs in my rotation. Seeing the multicam option, I may just have to go for this. All the Osprey packs have reflective fabrics, and while I don't mind that when I am just hiking, it would be nice to have more than 1 pack that doesn't light up.

my redwing is my everything pack. I never need anything bigger except maybe snow hiking. That being said, my redwing large is bigger than this pack. I believe there is more than one way to skin a cat, but i wouldn't pack out as much as you show yourself packing, especially in potential threat situation. You make a good point, and I agree that this pack is small for multi day use. I just want to remind everyone that there is a mid-ground, and that's where I fall personally.
@PawneeStrider74a12 жыл бұрын
I used a Redwing back in the 80/early 90s. It was red and blue; I really liked it; it was USNPS issue and I did not get to keep it. Back then they were top loading with a draw string and a top flap sort of like and alice pack. I do not trust zippers when I go off into the wilderness. We later modified the USA Jungle rucksack frame to accept an alice pack; med or large bag and shoulder straps and buut pad. I still have mine; great pack.

I agree but Molle adds weight. The other thing is that in my experience, IF you start attaching a bunch of crap to the outside of the bag it makes for a weirdly balanced load out Finally, if you have a "Tacti-COOL" bag and using it for a "shtf, bug out bag" a molle covered bag will make you look like an "operator" rather than the "gray man". Might as well paint a large neon target on your back. My choice IS the Kelty Redwing 50L....just wish they added a few more Molle Loops to the back

My man, I hate to bust your bubble, but I've lived out of smaller for longer. 28 days on an OP with 3x socks, 1x ACU, and all the gear I needed to patrol, conduct SKTs, and observe fires. Tactical Tailor 2847 cubes, 2 MBITRs and an ASIP, sleeping back, extra handmics, batteries, weps cleaning kit, binos, water, oh, and some 240 ammo and 3x MRE. For me, the Kelty Military Assault Pack 3500, is a 1 - 3 day patrol/assault pack. Mixed with a chest rig, it's perfect! I'm not living in luxury. I would be on a mission and dont need any unnecessary gear. I find it comparible to the Redwing 2650 that I have. While it is not as comfy as the Redwing(no plastic sheet!), the Multicam keeps me invisible. My 2650 is blue grey and noticeable up close in foilage. For longer periods(4-6days), I have my favorite, the Kelty 50(3100) in green and grey.

I haven't been lucky enough to find a super/tioga on ebay that is in good shape for low cost. Picking up an ILBE this weekend though, we'll see how it runs. Indeed, you are correct about the packs on eBay. Most are missing something. I think you might be able to get a better deal by piecing it together than buy whole though, if you have the time. It does scream military, but I can always throw a rain cover on if need be. Lots of different color rain covers.

There's no substitute for actually seeing what the pack looks like when someone's wearing it. In the full Redwing review vid there's only one photo of Nutn wearing it. The MAP 3500 is smaller than the current Redwings in Kelty's line (50 & 44). Seeing footage of people wearing it helps to compare, to get a feel for the proportions. A picture is worth a thousand words. This is a video review. It's TNP standard to show the item in use, be it knife, firearm, or clothing. Please roll in some footage

i have gone out in the field for 5+ days on packs smaller than this. Not saying I recommend it, but it's possible. For those feint of heart (or noses) you're looking at one full change of clothes and a few pairs of socks, the rest of the space is filled with food and food prep gear. If you're wanting to carry anything beyond that you need to look elsewhere. Baby-Wipe showers FTW!

I did 3 days with the 3 day pack. Ammo on bandoliers not in the pack. Had a change of clothes, underwear & socks were 3 pair & 2 T-shirts. I used an inflatable Thermarast. Molle webbing held light sleeping bag on the outside. Water, stove & a Blackhawk medic pouch filled with misc opposite of the stove. It was tight & without Molle I couldn't have done it. So I guess I cheated using the external abilities of the 3 day molle pack.

This pack is built for SOF. They order them by the 100s if not 1000s. They even fill them up with goodies to hand out to their coalition SOF partners to grease the skids for whatever they need done.
