Well our clown world continues but I keep cranking out content you like. Thanks for coming out to the vid. This is where I post mostly b. this is where the audience has stayed. BTW this review would not exist without TNP Donors, please consider joining long term. I’m so dumb how I operate it I don’t even have TIER levels there; you can join for a freakin’ $1 per creation (only 6 charged per month btw). TNP Patreon is where the action is! www.patreon.com/Nutnfancy. Here's just some of the comments from TNP Patrons on this video that were previously posted by elite TNP Patrons: "Moe Mansour 1w I've been known to ditch gear to make room for skittles and chocolate. Just sayin' lol. Love this series. 2 Todd Strelka 1w Great gun. I shot my friend's Sig P226 years ago. Thanks for the video! kylenor 1w Nice, I've always wanted a 226. I've shot my buddies 226 a few times. Now I see they've come out with a new version of the 226 xfive. I'd like to try one of those. I have a 320 xfive and it feels like I'm cheating when I take it to the range. Great content as always! Lynn E Fite, Col (r) 1w Sig disease: My wife bought me a P226 when I Was Bn S3. It’s still in use. However I have added a P226R in 40 S&W and a P227. What can I say,I have the Sig disease. duroSIG556R 1w I love my sig p226 combat. Even has a chrome lined barrel. What? yep. Got it for a decent price before Sig went full retard and jacked up their prices to insane levels. maxmfs 1w Had a P226 with .40 S&W and .357 SIG barrels once upon a time. It never really did it for me. I found it too chunky, and the righty only control annoyed me. (I’m a lefty.) Great gun though. I remember the SEALs with their P226s and MP-5s, when they’d come to planning meetings while underway. Thompson F Bechtel Jr 1w Totally agree. Take your choice P226R, P227, M11A1. Good advice but has cost this double owl.Could not be happier with these handguns. Tom Patrick Richards 1w These “Is it still awesome” videos are so cool. Like reliving all the legendary TNP sig, glock, gear review videos from years past! I hope nutn does a lot of these! 4 STLParkRanger13 1w Is it still awesome? Absolutely. My agency standard issue sidearm is the SIG P229R in .40 S&W. It's a laser, very reliable. To make a long story short, they function relatively reliably even without an ejector... Well, until you get to the last round in the magazine! Also own an early 90's P220. Love it! Andrettski 1w I came across an exc. cond. German all chrome black grips on an auction that was ending in 8 minutes. I didn't have enough time to research the value. It sold for $835 and I've been kicking myself ever since. I still get to shoot my buddies in .40 S&W, love it. fishlanding 7d oh yes, I bought one back in 1987 ? after going shooting with my brother who had one.... we still own them .... always reliable and didn't know what quality I was getting into at the time..... what beautiful landscape you have out west.... Nicolas Royston 7d I have a 229 Legion SAO. I love it! I've had glocks and other guns, but this is the only one that felt right and actually made me happy to own and shoot. Harold Galen McPheron 7d Excellent video, I've always wanted a SIG but never could get the money right to get one... Joshua Pulliam 7d I’d love to have a P226. Hopefully someday. My budget is still in the PSA Dagger range. I’ve not had the opportunity to shoot one yet, but I have shot a P227 and it was magical for me. Aaron Carrington 7d You missed the perfect opportunity to say, “Do I do what the SEALS do? No. The SEALS do what I do.” 1 Nathan Simms aka Darkpriest 7d Its a 2nd cool gun but I'd never carry it as a GTW gun, not with lighter options out there. Plumber Angelo 7d Absolutely love this series. Taking a look back at older firearms and judging them on current trends! Very entertaining Nutn! 2 BadgerTails 6d One of my Seniors ( An AF guy as well ) in an agency I was at pointed out to me one day....." Hey, there's a SIG LE/MIL 2 day AC coming up for the 2xx series pistols, you should go do that." Our agency didn't even run SIGs for primary carry Duty guns, but he was already a fan as well. I didn't have one at the time. Went to the course with it turned out to be, one of the SIG Icon Instructors, and a pool of frickin LE/SF people!? Found a used LE 226 after the course, and went to work; strip it down, new springs kit and voila. GunBroker to the rescue again, somebody was dumping a batch of (8) 226 mags with TUFF mag holders for less than $100?! Holy heck is right! Eventually threw in the SRT and just added an E2 grip kit last year (Thank You CDNN). No, it's not light, BUT it has a balance-in-hand. It runs like a tank. I'm a bigger dude so it's no factor for AIC, and I do. ISSA Drive on! 1 Matthew Larson 6d Thanks for another excellent vid, Nutn! Very much enjoying this video series! I got a p226E2 in .40 that was a police trade-in for a steal, especially considering it looked like it had never been used/shot. That was a few years ago, but I have just been really enjoying it since then, and will definitely be holding on to mine! 1 Jordan Parker 6d The P226 is iconic, love mine. Thanks Nutn! 1 EthanRX 6d Thanks for the video Nutn! I still rock my P229 Elite and love it. 1 Downtrodden 6d I love DA/SA hammer pistols. Always wanted a P226 but the favorite in our family is a HK P30. I’m fine with the “quirky” decocker. All the old school features but with a polymer grip. 2 Onewizeguy 6d Years back I paid $399 for a Coast Guard trade-in, P229 in .40 with 3 mags. Best gun purchase to date. The finish was 90%, zero signs of corrosion. I shoot it more consistently than any pistol I’ve owned. Heavy- yes. Carry-able - ehh, not so much. Excellent- yes! 2 Bluegill097 5d Never had one, never shot one, never even held one! And probably never will, still it I enjoyed the video and this new series! 1 Joshua Mount 5d I recently acquired a P226 as it's just one those guns you gotta check off the list. That being said I've have had a west German Sig P225 for years and years. Its basically single stack 226 and man does it feel good in your hands. The grip size is 1911ish which even though I got some big paws just feels right for me. Doesn't get used for anything anymore as it's more of a collectible like alot of my shit now. I managed to get some wood grips for it and it looks pimp daddy 👨. Are they still awesome yeah they are. It's old technology and yeah it's not lightweight and high speed but it can still do work. 1 cody white 5d Great vid , never owned one but finally shot one a air marshals pistol with XS sights and mid 90s new sights. The single & double action trigger 👌 just old mag needed changed out was feeding issues but dam fun hitting a 8” gong standing from 35 yrds Dione Kollee 4d Speaking of the plate carrier you were wearing on this vid. You stated you had no ballistic protection. It’s better to have some sort of protection then be ass out. I know preparedness is something you stress frequently. You did a review in Botach Tactical & the 10/12 level 3 soft plates. I actually purchased a set after watching your review & I love these soft plates. They still stop anything up to a 44 mag. I know, it would be nice to have a plate stop a large rifle round. But, for the price you can’t beat Botachs level 3 soft plates. The prices were insanely affordable. It checks the box on Sawc & protection. I’ll send you the link. Only so you won’t have to dig through your archives. I pls on purchasing another set to stack behind my ceramic plates in my Spiritus Systems LV119 carrier setup. Not sure if you ever had the chance to dawn a spiritus plate carrier. I would liken it to wearing a tshirt. You don’t know it’s there. Range of motion is phenomenal. Customer service is A1 & they have a great warranty program. It’s a business owned by a couple retired armed forces boys & all I but are spiritus products. When you find something you work & it’s not broke, why fix it. Here I’ll send you the link botach.com/battlesteel-level-3a-10x12-flexible-armor-panels/ 2 sammy marchand 4d Definitely love the “Is it still awesome” series! Keep’em coming! 1 Eric Ohme 2d Awesome video! Just picked up my first Sig, a police turn in P220. Love it. You should do a review of the best hiking candy - that cracked me up, saving weight for Skittles. I am down with that. Big50 20h Even though I’m a die hard 1911 guy, if I could have only one handgun, it’d be the P226. I’ve done time with the 75-B (& variants), Glock, XD, 365, wheelguns, & of course the venerable 1911. They’re all good & I like ‘em, heck even love ‘em. But here’s something magical about the P226 for me. It just feels like it’ll take on whatever s#it the world will throw at ya…and keep on going."

@nutnfancy You were the reason I bought a Sig P226 as my first hand gun. Sadly, I had to sell but I never got my money for it :( Long story. (TLDR: Sold my P226 to a Gunshop that later went out of business, owner offed himself due to bankruptcy. Never got my money 12 years later). Your original video will always be a reminder to my training when I was a new shooter. Now? I have a Sig Sauer P365XL and I've never been happier.

I got a West German P226 from 1991 recently. Will say it’s nice. Like it better than the Glock 17 Gen 5 even. However, I tried the USP 45 and I can already say, it’s better. I traded to get my sig in a very uncommon sort of deal. Got it for better than just a bargain, I’ll say that. However, I never would have thought I would ever own a sig. I’m glad I do now. However, I intend to get a HK USP to replace it as a Duty Pistol. I will keep the P226 as more of a Sunday Driver so to speak. For my hands, the USP just ergonomically fits my hand a little better and I can manipulate the controls and Hammer especially more easily.

I don't know if you'll ever read this but my first pistol I ever bought was a Sig P226 . All I knew was I wanted a 9mm . I did my research . My list was about 12 to 15 different pistols long . It came down to two , the Beretta 92fs and the Sig P226 . I watched your video Sig P226: "Warrior Excellence" Pt 1 by Nutnfancy and the rest is history . The Sig P226 became my first and favorite pistol and I still have it to this day . I took my mom shooting and she loved it . A day I will always remember ! Thanks for for the great advice back then .

Just got a brand new MK-25 (P226 w/ phosphate finish and sear with Navy anchor on left side of slide) in September for my retired Navy SEAL father on his 80th birthday. He never used it when he was in, but recently when we got a tour of the new SEAL facilities in south Coronado over the summer with Team 3’s Master Chief and XO, it blew my surprise to my father when a MK-25 was a part of a memorial to a fallen SEAL-he told me he had to have one. I said wait till September and then act surprised-I’ve already got it in the queue for you 🤟❤ He loves it, and so do I. We’re going to get the short reset trigger for it-this ought to allow for more accuracy on quicker follow-up shots. Cheers to another great video, Nutn! (Oh-I think the P226 was designed in ‘83/‘84 Switzerland btw, and not available in the US until ‘87/‘88 :)

In 1997 I transferred from the institution to California state parole as a parole agent. I was issued a 38 special revolver. Within months my brother-in-law track down a used Sig P226 that was used and owned by a law-enforcement officer in the bay area. I purchased the fire arm and after completing transition training through my agency I used that weapon until I retired in 2011. I have never had any problems with it. Great feature on the Sig P226. Several years later I purchased the P220.

Great video just like the one you did back in 2013 on the P226 series, I'm just an 82 year old-X-Marine range instructor that loves his 1911's in 45 and 9mm along with his Black Hawk 3 screw 357/38/9mm convert, but when I go to the range there is only one that brings a smile to my face and that is my 93 Sig P226 W. German 9mm that has not failed me in over 4,000 rd's and still will put them in the center all day long. Keep up the great video's.

The only thing I've done with mine is install the E2 grips and a threaded Barrel for my silencer. Since then I've got many other pistols but the p226 is still my favorite. It's just a dream to shoot! For home defense, guns like the Sig 226 and Beretta 92F are still some of the best ever made. The double action means they can be kept safely under a pillow if necessary, like a revolver. The extra weight makes them easier to shoot, especially for females. Same goes for the single action trigger after the first shot. I think if someone is not looking to hike with one of these, they are still the best combat handguns ever made.

I'd hike with it. Then again, I ran around with an M9 which isn't a light gun either with all my gear. Although, if I go hiking and take a firearm to guard against two or four legged predators, I usually bring a shotgun. I'd sure hate to try and defend myself in the rocky desert/badlands against a mountain lion or a herd of javelina with a 9mm handgun. Better than nothing but there are better tools for the job.

@@Talishar Yeah, I was Air Force Security Forces during the Gulf War and did my time on the flightline/base carrying an M9, so I know what you mean. Regarding hiking with a pistol, I pack a Glock 29 10mm. Shotguns are awesome for wildlife defense, but lugging one around everywhere is just not realistic for me. Plus, any time you need both hands you have to either sit the shotgun down or sling it over your back. In either case, that's when you don't have immediate access to your firearm when a bear could be on you in seconds. However, my 10mm in a chest rig is ALWAYS on me and allows me to be hands free. Now, if I'm just camping, I'll also have a shotgun as well. But if I'm on foot and not hunting, I carry the 10mm instead loaded with either Underwood 200gr hardcast bullets or Underwood 200gr FMJs. One of the big KZbin channels recently tested the Underwood 10mm 200gr FMJ and it went nearly 60" in ballistics gel! And it went in a straight line too.

It was the reason I bought a sig p226 back then it become an object of desire and I was not disappointed. Back then I unfortunately had to turn that gun because money was tight. I promised the owner of that shop I would be back to get another one and I did but money became tight once more and had to turn that one as well. I went gunless for a number of years but when I moved to FL decided it was time so I purchased you guessed it a sig 226. I will never let this one go. I found a used P229 da/sa 40 cal in February 2023. Place had a "357 SIG" barrel, which is what I bought it for. With tax $615. Turned out someone had slit open the package, took out the 357 barrel and put in another 40S&W. I had to order a 367 SIG barrel, but that's okay. First mag I shot was all da, second mag sa. Both were 12 rounds in the X-ring, 2 in the 9. I've never had that kind of accuracy with the first couple magazines of a pistol.

@@gswguy4554 It's pretty good in 40 cal. I think 40 is snappier than 357. You will certainly be capably armed with either caliber with a P229. I like the 165 grain, flat nose or XTP. I can get flat nose for about 32¢ per round, so it's affordable and you can carry same as your practice ammo. Ditto 357 SIG at 46¢ per round, 125 grain flat nose.

My P226 is one of the most versatile handguns I own. Mine shoots .40 S&W, .357 SIG, 9mm, and .22 LR, and does not use a single non-SIG part. I've carried a P226 on duty, taught training classes, and carried it concealed. There are handguns that equal a P226 but none that exceed it in my opinion. I don't know what version Nutnfancy has, but mine weighs a little less at just under 32 ounces with an empty magazine in it. I personally don't find that too heavy for a duty grade weapon.

Once again, thank you for your fine video. I love my SIG Sauer P226 MK-25, which I purchased used back around 2012. I've got thousands of rounds down range through it, with never any malfunctions. Mine came (used) with the SIG short-reset trigger, and short reach trigger. The tritium in my OEM original SIG-Lite night sights stopped glowing, so I've replaced them with Trijicon HD tritium night sights. I run with Metgar 18-round and 20-round magazines, keeping the original SIG 15-round mags packed away. I recently replaced the OEM grip panels with Hogue G10 Magrip Piranha grips. It's my favorite pistol, the one I'll never sell or trade away. It'll go to my son when my time on this Earth is done. I don't mind the weight, and I love the DA/SA trigger. This gun is so smooth and solidly well made - a true pleasure to shoot. I took note at my local outdoor range years ago that when shooting off-hand at 100 yards, I'm consistantly more accurate with my P226 than I am with my similarly sized 9mm Glocks, SA XDm and S&W M&Ps. Good things! 👍

First time I saw a P226 was in one of my father's Guns & Ammo magazines back in the 1980s, I was about 8 or so, and I used to see all kinds of handguns, but the P226 was the one that stuck in my mind (and heart), now I have a family and kids of my own, and a West German Sig Sauer P226, and yes, It's Still Awesome!

I put 7-12mi a day thru swamps and woods with that gun on my hip. To the point you will see me in pics of Christmas past with the 226 on my hip as the kids open their presents.

great video . One of the first pistols i purchased in 2017 is the SIG P226 ELITE 9mm , with night sights , aluminum grips and the SRT trigger . I love shooting this pistol . I have zero issues with this pistol .Extremely reliable and unbelievably rugged . It is on the heavy side , but feel very secure with it because of it's reliability . I will never sell this pistol . I purchased my first pistol, a brand spanking new SP2022, twenty years ago due to its manual of arms, ergonomics and affordability. It may be a poor man's Sig. It's not as nice and fine as my 220 series pistols, but it works and I don't worry too much about abusing it. It's a perfect field training weapon, and for me, more ergonomic out of the box. That said, a tritium 226 w/a 21 round mag sits on my nightstand.

My first P226 is date code 1984. Bought it 1986 in factory box used in near new condition. It's now on its 3rd slide refinish with over 50K down the factory pipe. Have replaced many recoil springs , 4 mainsprings & on its 3rd sear spring. Replaced the hammer drop spring when I replaced the internal hammer drop lever at about 35K round count. There is a nicely cut little groove dead center of the hammer top where the slide engages the hammer. I've added a few other Sig's since but would still fight with this original 1st owned P226 pistol. Really enjoy this special review.

**New Video idea later in my comment** nutnfancy I can honestly say I am one of the OG TNP'ers who watched your series in 2008 and yes, I have an E2 P226 thanks to you my friend and I freaking love it, still. Such a reliable beast of a gun that has and still withstands the test of time. I am so happy and proud to see you are still making content (checking in since those days) and this revisit of the P226 is perfect timing. Reminds me of all the reasons I fell in love with the P226 in the first place, and no I will never sell it either. I heard rumor that Sig has somewhat recently discontinued production of the P226, I was shocked to hear this. Went to a gun show recently, saw a couple Legions on the tables for sale and no other P226 models which scared me. Went to their website and saw they discontinued their Nitron version, but the Legion, Elite, MK25, Equinox, X5, Zen, etc. all appear to still be available per their website, so I REALLY hope that is just a rumor. Will be a sad day and horrible decision should Sig ever choose to discontinue this flagship and legendary model, IMO. Curious your thoughts sir and question for you - what is your opinion of Red Dot sights on the P226? Red Dots have become massively popular in the latter polymer handgun world (my 2nd pistol happens also to be a Glock 19 also🤘🏻) I would love to hear your thoughts on the practicality or lack thereof in using one with the P226. My assumption is the answer is not practical, with some caveats, which is cool, I mean the Navy Seals are badasses and they don't have time for battery malfunctions or susceptibility to failures due to weather/conditions/temperature etc. But given the advantages the red dot market claims or seems to provide in terms of accuracy, do you think you would be better off and shoot better with a Trijicon or Romeo 1 pro for example (also comes with Sig conversion kits which now seem to be unobtainium) or not and do you think the subject is null and void with training? Also do you think a red dot takes away from the nostalgia and what makes the P226 so great? There are obvious pros/cons but myself and I'm sure many others would love to hear your opinion - maybe an idea for another video 🔥🤘🏻 Great content as always. You are the man. Rock on and thanks for all you have and continue to do for the community! 🍻🇺🇸

Great video about a great gun. I used to only buy .45acp guns and the Sig Sauer p226 was the gun the converted me to 9mm. I still love .45 but the 226 is probably the most comfortable pistol I've held. I saw a review of the MK25 on KZbin, with a title saying "it shoots like junk". I thought it was a joke but the guy literally complained about everything like a spoiled child. That was the first review I've seen where someone just craps on the gun because so many people like it. I get if someone just doesn't like the feel or weight, but its hard to deny its reliability and inherent accuracy. I think the Sig Sauer p226 is a legend.

Video idea (if you haven’t already done it): How to layer cold weather gear and make it work with LBE/chest rigs/plate carriers. It doesn’t get all too cold in my area, but I feel like I’d be pretty lost if the mercury were to drop to the low levels you guys often see. My super warm stuff is bulky, and I just don’t see how it would work too well with gear. And being able to shed layers always seems important (regardless of the activity), but how do you go about it while wearing full kit? Do you typically carry a daypack or the like to dump your layers in when running and gunning (or doing SB drills for example)? If he’s covered this, and if someone has the time, please point me in the direction of his video that covers it. I’m open to any suggestions otherwise. How do you guys/gals go about it? What works for you?

I have an old school P226 that is older than 30 years. I am happy with it. It still works reliably. The decocker was one of the reasons I got it. It does not have the fit and finish of a P210. I do not care as the precission is good. It is capable of decent groups at 50 m. I like the weight. It helps with recoil management. I would buy one again. I prefer my P229 Elite in 357Sig simply because I'm more familiar with it as I carried it as a backup to a G31 Glock for years. Both the P229 and G31 have adaptions for 9mm & 40S&W. It doesn’t matter what other handgun I try (many dozen) nothing truly outperforms the 226. Including Staccatos, CZ Shadow, Glock,Canik, S&W M&Ps, etc there isn’t any one of them that I’d pick over the Sig. A few ties maybe, but none that I would be more confident with. It’s a true masterpiece of a go to war gun.

The Daewoo DP51 fits perfectly in any Sig P226/228/229 shoulder rig. The Arex fits those Sig shoulder rigs too. I went from a Hi Power to the Sig. $1250 for a new Browning Hi Power MKIII versus $950 for the Sig P226R with a Sig light & laser? $600 for a Glock? I can really rock an old Hi Power but $1250??
