Got a street Beat recently, LOVE Perrin's knives!
@SpydieFan13 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for sharing. The street beat is my Tories EDC fixed blade. It's with me always. With the big brother was still in production.

I'm so glad they brought this design back, and at such a great price, ($85 @ Cutlery Shoppe.) The original was my favorite camp/hiking/biking knife, because of it's strength, design and weight, But when I was offered $225 for it, I foolishly sold it! This time, I think I'll buy 2 or 3! These are even great knives in the kitchen, and of course, if you're deploying overseas, an awesome addition to your LBE. Thanks, Nutn!

Many chef's knives have great designs which can be used as survival knives, by just scaling up the thickness of their blades, leaving everything else practically intact.

And you have me to thank! After searching long and hard, I finally found someone willing to part with their original FP Street Bowie. Paid a lot but I REALLY wanted one for ages. I love it and it IS an original but dang it never fails.Form of Murphy's Law I guess.
@nutnfancy16 жыл бұрын
Mrbeligos is correct. The FP Street Beat is a cool EDC fixed blade option and maybe a small defensive blade. It has a great micarta handle and the same great sheath. Great blade, wish I had one. And I forgot to mention in the video that indeed the reviewed FP is no longer made.

I could be mistaken, but I think Spyderco recently did a sprint run of the larger Perrins.

I recommend not saying stuff that drags you into scraps. Carrying a weapon means stepping back and letting the other guy think that he won, lest you force the issue and get into a fight. Bullets don't tend to come back once you discharge them, and cuts don't magically heal.

Save your pennies gentlemen as this classic is coming back this year as the Spyderco Street Bowie, Nutn' here's to hoping you do an update when it hits.

a little longer handle too i think would improve it. And some more rubber on the choil to prevente our index to be in contact wit the steel blade with not some rounded borders.But again, a very impressive knife. Versatile as itself.

Hey Nutnfancy, they sell it as street bowie, got mine at shot show 2012! keep up the great vids, I went thru all to find this review!!

The blade on this is a dead ringer for the WWII mark I USN knife.. I have a Pal MK I and the blade is virtually identical to this Perrin ... An all around awesome utility shape... Food prep is an often overlooked attribute imo.. Anyhoo, Spyderco should resurrect this knife pronto and give it the street beats micarta handle... Can you say Winner?

I'd love to see you review the Buck Vanguard. I bought one for $40 bucks years ago with a wooden handle, and it is my favorite medium fixed blade. It's a great skinner/survival knife, and really tough. Made of good steel that's easy to sharpen, but really tough, too. I'd like to see your take on it.
@GabeMacDonnell11 жыл бұрын
They're available again, with a few slight changes to the design. Around $85 @ Cutlery Shoppe.

VG10 is a bit on the brittle side, so you don´t want to pry and hack away with that kind ofa blade; if you are fine with that, go for it!

Im not Nutn but if it matters, i think its a great starter/place holder knife. Its somthing that will do its job untill you can get into somthing a bit 'heaver' ie. the RAT7 or heck even a $50 ka-bar combat(BIG fan).

I don't know. That part of the handle where it meets the blade and you wrap your finger around? It looks very, very, very tiny and thin. Like it would snap in half if you tried slicing through a tomato. What's it feel like?
@Kylef773512 жыл бұрын
@flashcraft Solid. Its a half inch by 4 millimeters, at the thinnest spot, and idk about you but i sure cant break that, no matter what i try, haha
