I can attest that Magnesium supplements are very helpful. In the West most people are deficient in many nutrients. Our diets pretty much stink. As a health researcher and nutrition coach, I determined that I also needed Magnesium, especially for body cramps. It has helped enormously. I daily take 1 GRAM of Magnesium. The RDAs are always way too low, meaning we actually need much more. Thanks for this video. You're helping so many people figure out how to help themselves. Namaste

levels are 90% of the benefit. I like magnesium breakthrough because there is like 7 forms in one

My preferred way to increase intake is to eat more whole foods rich in magnesium: organic pumpkin seeds, almonds, cashews, avocado and of course, dark green leafy vegetables (like spinach).

Thank you both for answering! I do both (with nutrition + a similar Magnesium product) and must say that even that didn't seem to be enough. Still had restless leg and other symptoms. But then again, those of us with chronic pain or digestive issues probably need much more until our nervous system and digestion are more balanced.

Vit. D is great for pain and inflammation. It works well with magnesium and k2.

Does cortisol play a role in chronic pain? What test is used to measure cortisol levels?

Cortisol and pain can be related, but not directly. Cortisol is secreted during times of stress and pain is often highly stressful - so elevated cortisol levels are often seen with pain. Cortisol can be measured using blood, urine or saliva testing.

Hi Yoni! Do you have a recommended daily amount for taking a supplement? Or does it depend on body weight or other factors? Also, does taking an Epson salt bath once or twice a week for a good hour count as ingesting magnesium and getting it into the body or is that different than taking a supplement?

Hi Em, While it seems that some magnesium can be absorbed directly through the skin, it's definitely not the most efficient way to up your levels. My favorite way to increase intake is just to consume more whole foods rich in magnesium: organic pumpkin seeds, almonds, cashews, avocado and of course, dark green leafy vegetables (like spinach).
