I agree about hitting micros first. But there is something to the FACT that 65 % of energy being used to digest... also the gut needs some rest and there are benefits to autophagy. I believe in a 8 to 12 hour window, resting the gut some which improves obsorption and also putting emphasis on anti infamatories is best. Especially if you over 29 years old.

according to the intermittent fasting theory, your body activates it's rest & digest mechanisms when you stop eating. your body also releases growth hormones and repairs your body while it's not eating. when you eat, it breaks the fasting cycle and that's what makes you fat. i dont agree that intermittent fasting is bad.

I think intermittent fasting would be good for me. Either way, I have problems with food so I really need to get this under control! I often over eat every day. I need to stick with a certain type of food for a while and lose my gut while I’m learning and getting more variety. Eggs, vegetables, a little bit of lean meat, small amount of fruit, etc. I like oatmeal with fruit/seeds/nuts in there with mct oil .

Rarely addressed are the biggest two problems with dieting - 'tracking intake (accurately)', and 'staying on plan'. Eating is a drive. It is hard to control a drive. Eating, breathing, sleeping, elimination. You can try to control those but it's not like other 'habits'. So the thing people should look at is not "what" to eat, but how to stay on plan. The mechanics of dieting. The mechanics of tracking your intake.

I'm open minded about diets, I just go with what works. I've been on the ketogenic diet for about 7 months and I'm at 9% body fat. I've noticed a huge improvement on my health physically and mentally. I don't think this guy knows a lot about the keto diet the carb ratio is dependent on each person. Under 20 grams is the rule but some people can go up to 50. Also green leafy vegetable have a low glycemic index and won't spike insulin that's a weird point to make. People like to stay stuck in the past. I still hear people taking advice from Arnolds dieting methods which obviously have results for some people but their might be other methods that are more efficient. I would like to see a study done on the two diets on average people to see what yields the most results.

@panbuffman
@panbuffman 6 жыл бұрын
Dolce does things so that the basics are pretty much in place, which is why it works...Just his explanations of WHY he does them are flawed. For example, the cardio zone part. You're looking for caloric expenditure when it comes to fat loss, not which fuel source you're tapping into during the cardio method. If at the end of the day, you're not in a caloric deficit it doesn't matter if you were using fat as fuel during your fasted cardio in the morning.

Btw a lot of these diet gurus who are against fasting and tell clients they can eat anything in moderation etc, come from a bodybuilding background. When you’re coaching somebody who’s 280lbs of muscles and chemicals, the normal rules don’t apply. They don’t worry about overeating. They’re more likely to worry about underrating. When you’re a walking chemistry set the basic physiology changes. I think that’s why these guys think that this kinda folksy common sense (iifym) is good advice for normal people when it clearly isn’t. They have limited experience with normal people.

Nothing wrong with intermittent fasting
@boywonder4509
@boywonder4509 6 жыл бұрын
Intermittent Fasting raises stress hormones. When your fasting for long periods of time your cortisol and adrenaline will spike to help accelerate the breakdown of protein into glucose. It's a survival backup mechanism. Your body will revert to getting glucose from your muscle, bones, brain, etc. Which is obviously not a good thing. Doing so can have so many adverse effects that they're too long to list. It drastically slow downs your Metabolic Rate to adapt to low/no caloric intake. Everything from reproductive health to brain health is slowed down and put on the back burner by the body to focus on essentially on trying to survive.
@BT-ve5pv

Fernando Antonio Alot of great results all over social media from intermittent fasting to retaining your muscle, metabolism increasing frim flight or fight, creating insulin resistance to slowing down aging process.. ALOT of studies out there. I guess it depends on the person
@boywonder4509
@boywonder4509 6 жыл бұрын
B Taylor kbox champ I can't speak to any of those results. I don't know what those people were doing nutrition/supplement wise and what their previous state of health was. I will say that I too was doing intermittent fasting. Initially I got what I thought were great benefits. Weight loss and digestive improvements were the big ones. Slowly I started to deteriorate. Hair loss, dark circles, low libido, digestive issues, dry skin, sleep problems. I went for lab work and noticed all my important health markers like thyroid, testosterone, dhea were in the tank and cortisol was high, estrogen was high, prolactin was high. I did a deep dive into biochemistry and human physiology and it was a big wake up call. I personally think fasting and low/no carb are terrible ideas, especially if your an athlete or someone who is very active. But don't take my word for it, monitor your temp and pulse and get lab work done. P.S. I liked to see these so called studies. Especially the ones on fasting delaying the aging process.
@BT-ve5pv

@boywonder4509
@boywonder4509 6 жыл бұрын
B Taylor kbox champ I bought into all the hype about fasting, keto, low carb. It messed me up pretty bad. Not sure how old you are but if your doing activities like MMA you should definitely not be fasting. Make sure your eating before, after, and sometimes even during intense bouts of training preferable with easy to digest carbs like fruit and replenishing electrolytes for starters. Training on a quote unquote empty stomach causes the increase of cortisol, adrenaline, lactic acid among other things. I won't go into the pathology of consistently raising stress hormones but it's no bueno. If your interested in learning more about nutrition, human physiology, biochemistry google Ray Peat. His work will blow your mind. It's contrary to all the nonsense you hear being pushed today. He isn't selling anything or proselytizing any specific diet just using science to explain Human Physiology and it's relation to nutrition, metabolism, disease, etc...

4. Best Carbs? Easy to digest Fruits are the best carbs. Veggies like cruciferous vegetables (excluding fruit veggies like tomatoes) should be well cooked. Well cooked starches like white potatoes and white rice should be secondary to fruit depending on your digestion. I personally suggest avoiding starches like quinoa, oats, breads, beans because they’re a lot harder to digest but experiment on your own.
@methodtraining
@methodtraining 6 жыл бұрын
Fernando Antonio I agree people need experiment on their own… I find it to be the exact opposite. Starches give me a nice sustainable energy while filling my glycogen stores whereas the fructose in fruit spikes me and drops me like a brick.

Forgetting weight loss. The only diet that has been proven to prevent and reverse heart disease is the vegan diet. If you look at blue zones(places where the life span is far longer than everywhere else) they eat a predominantly plant based diet with no more than 2.5-3 ounces of animal protein a day. I am not a vegan and I do not eat a plant based diet. But the evidence is there. Keto diets may very well be better for fat loss and they may be better at fighting cancer due to the fact that cancer feeds off of glucose. Only a very small percent of the population is cutting weight. But for a purely lifelong healthy diet there's no debate in my opinion that dolce's way of eating is more sustainable and at the end of the day that's what is important.

5. Sugar (Carbs) and calcium rich foods at night are protective to the body from stress and help with sleep. They fill glycogen stores to help you sleep longer. If your waking up in the middle of the night eat some ice cream, or milk, or fruits with gelatin before bed and it should help with middle of the night insomnia.

3. I personally don't know Johnny but as a student of Human Physiology I can tell you the man shows all the signs of being in a stress state= drastic hair loss, Edema throughout the body to name a few. Fluctuations in weight like Hendricks has had in his career are highly stressful and inflammatory to the body. Anthony Pettis is another example. After cutting to featherweight he showed clear signs of stress. His face ballooned (edema) an inflammatory stress response likely to cutting all that weight.

This is all biochem talk here: It’s a bit misleading to say a Keto diet is a calorie restrictive diet, Mike. Sure you are restricting a type of calorie, so you are technically correct. Ketogenic is carb restricted, but carbs offer fewer calories anyways, so if anything your calories go up. You’re just starving your body of glucose, and forcing it to metabolize fatty acids. Once you establish ketosis you will have tons more energy, more sharp/focused/alert. U generate way more atp from fatty acid metabolism than from glucose (160+ vs 32). Your brain can't metabolize fatty acids, so ketones are formed and that’s what fuels your brain. If u wanna know more about the biological perspective, read this www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1217938/pdf/8973539.pdf

Or maybe not. It's so difficult to know what scientific literature is trustworthy. Much of the medical related literature is funded by big industry (pharma, agra). Unless you have a solid understanding of not only biochemistry/biology/chemistry but statistics and meta analysis it's hard to know what's what.

I love how he talked about keto making you skinny fat. There's no basis for this at all. Maybe he should check out this study: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1373635/

So. Many. Nutrition technical words. I honestly can't follow along, call me an idiot, but just say if I don't eat complex carbs before going to sleep I'll build muscle or something instead of all this micro nutrient density and all that shit lol

I have huge respect for you Firas, but this broscience in mma is highly annoying. A lot of this information is either highly outdated, anecdotal or lacking evidence to support it. The most common thing we see with fighters is them following what has worked for one person before and not something that is subject to intensive studies. You sir are a wizard, but nonetheless more education needs to be brought into MMA.

For high intensity sports like MMA, carbs are a better source of energy. SCIENCE: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5794245/

سلام عليكم

Understand that dolce works with top level athletes that have outstanding genetics. They are not genetically fat people. So of course his people don’t need KETO or fasting

Kane6676 no such thing as genetically fat people. Just look at the habits of fit vs fat ppl. The people who look great work harder and eat better than fat people. I don’t need train 7x a week and follow a meal plan yet I do. Fat ppl don’t train that often and have a bad diet and cheat meals.. if anyone could afford to have cheat meals and train less it’s me. To those who have everything more shall be given. If you’re fat and out of shape you should be training twice as hard and eat twice as “good” as a person that’s in shape. But you see the opposite.. out of shape people having terrible habits and justifying it with nonsense reasons. And in shape ppl who’re incredibly diligent even though they’re the ones who could afford to be less strict
