I am definitely addicted to food. I am an ex addict to substances, and when I start a fast it's hard to get past the first day. Being around so much negative influence at work and with my family they tease me with food and some people get jealous of my weight loss and discourage me from fasting. We are in a culture of excess and positive reinforcement for negative actions. It's quite sad.

Really glad to see how you've chosen to look into this amazing strategy. I was exciting with one meal every two days myself, and was shocked how I was able to maintain my strength and muscle with half what my alleged 'maintenance' calories were. its not about overeating in the West, it's that people eat the wrong foods. i think you'll find food and eating is cornerstone of most societies. people in west eat wrong foods because so much processed food is available. but what you are seeing now is a trend away from that and a reeducation about what is healthy.

For endomorphs, it's very hard to lose weight on IF unless you're doing like a 16:8. The OMAD diet etc simply serves as a superficial treatment to a host of underlying problems. Obese people generally stay obese eating OMAD or doing intense IF. Building habits, practical skills, and consistency with 3 solid, nutrient-dense meals a day with protein is the most effective way to lose weight and keep it off for average Joes. For mesomorphs (like Zahabi and most martial arts athletes), IF can be very effective.

Fasting is a normal part of life. When sick, the best medecin is to abstain from eating anything for a good 48hrs hence why everything tastes bad and your appetite decreases. Firas, I agree with everything you said especially about over eating. We eat way too much and way to often.

so u sayin if ur body is fighting off someting ( which it does when it is sick) may it be a cold or something else, then u want to weaken it even further by not eating anything at all? I when i am sick and i eat a chicken soup or beef soup, with lots of vegetables and a bit ginger , i also trink self brewed ginger tee with lemon . with that and a lot of sleep i get faster healthy again. i just dont think that not eating would be smart if u are ill, there is a reason why u only fast when u arent sick and yes we all have our opnions , our own personal "truths", so understand that i dont judge u , i just simply do not agree

@@SaNDlerHoMe yes, it is good to have soups and herbal drinks like ginger. Sometimes however, sick people feel sick at the smell or thought of food (me for example, when I have fever ), I want water only , with a pinch of salt and/or Apple cider vinegar, or lemon. ) if you feel like eating, eat, but sometimes especially during fever, people don't want food, so they should not eat. Just started back again on new program. Doing one 72hrs fast per week and when on it, potassium citrate, pink sea salt and water and magnesium supplements. During the work week, doing OMAD, one meal a day, an aggressive form of intermittent fasting. Goal is to lose 45lbs in the next 6wks.

Coach I have an idea as to why you’re having trouble going hard without carbs. Here me out, I’m a lover of food, chef at Cheesecake Factory for a long stretch. I tried all the fad diets for weight loss, researched then implemented. I worked out a ton too. 2-4 hours at first. I successfully lost weight and injured myself of course. But in that journey I learned something about metabolism. If you’re an athlete, you should definitely do keto for an extended period of time. There are 2 enormously powerful adaptations I stumbled into. Being able not only to access your fat stores, but do it well. As well as get your body good at turning protein and fat into glycogen. You do NOT need carbs to be explosive. It takes time to process. I sprint on a bike and on the trail. I fucking promise you. What do you need for evidence?

Autophagy - look it up but it is basically taking out the garbage and recycling on the cellular level. The connection with fasting is that these cellular functions require energy to execute, so if you are loaded up with food your body needs to use energy for digestion and handling nutrients, but in a fasted state the body is able to devote energy to these maintenance/clean up functions.

Sodium from Sea salt and potassium can be found in salt alternatives like product called 'no salt'. I take milk of magnesium and add it to carbonated water which if done right did you a very bioavailable form of magnesium. You can find a lot of these ideas with a Google search.
