An imaging guided surgeon (interventional radiologist) & neuroradiologist, author of nutrition, medical & study skills books, Peter Rogers MD is the "Spartan Vegan."
In college he was student athlete of the year at Stanford. Graduated 1st in medical school class.
Dr. Rogers works as neuroradiologist, but also did fellowship imaging guided surgery (interventional radiology) at Harvard. He got fat in 30's and learned his way out. He was one of best medical students in USA in biochemistry and tries to understand pathophysiology. Has written a books about nutrition & study skills including "How to improve blood flow," "Hot topics in nutrition," "Straight A at Stanford & on to Harvard," "How to raise IQ, & become a genius."
Stanford university student athlete of the year, 1985. University of Illinois medical school award for best male medical student in class; best student in pathology; highest board scores in class of 333 students; biochemistry score 780/800, possibly the highest in the USA (biochem is the most difficult subject in medical school). Biochem is “considered” to include nutrition. Residency at Northwestern with 99% board scores. Fellowship in interventional radiology (imaging guided surgery) at Harvard. Fellowship in neuroradiology at Rush.
Author of multiple books about nutrition, reducing risk of disease, and study skills. Discovered almost all the major medical textbooks are 50-100 years out of date, and often, completely wrong. Secret desire #1 = to become a nutrition doctor, but can’t, because there’s no money in it. Secret desire #2 = to rewrite the major medical textbooks, but can’t, because there’s no money in it. The shocking truth is that most medical textbooks are essentially worthless, because they do no include nutrition, and most disease is caused by poor nutrition.

I love listening to Doctor Peter Rogers talk about the low fat vegan diet. I turned vegan from vegetarian thanks to a lecture I heard by Doctor John McDougall in Oct, 2021. I am 66 and an ITF winner and long distance runner I feel much lighter when I run these days. I give running and exercise a lot of points for making us live a long productive life. It can combat a wrong diet till about 60. For I ate an egg a day and had cheese, butter and ghee and quite a bit of oil till 64. But now I realize that a vegan diet with less oil is essential for staying strong from 60 onwards

We’re all down to Dr McDougall, and with good reason. But I have come to the conclusion that Dr Rogers’ presentations are my favorites of all time because he goes into such detail at a rapid pace. I can watch these maybe six or seven times in the same month and like an amazing movie, I notice something different every time. I can tell Dr Rogers was a college wrestler - his endurance with these lengthy, hard-hitting lectures is impressive 👊🏼

the info he presented profoundly important but extremely well known in plant based world. I very much liked his explanation how terrible it is schools do not teach this, and his anger at medical schools and text the needless deaths and suffering that resulted from avoiding this very basic and important of human anatomy and nutrition -- the leaky gut. I was stunned to hear him rant about calling his wife fat, she calls him ugly, we did not need to hear his dirty laundry. I did find another Chef AJ video immediately only because I could not find remote. Dr Rodgers does get around to important basic things --nothing new,, but someone could tell him to ramble much less, and even talk a bit slower. Quit calling your wife fat, too. The last time I saw him on he spent a lot of time bragging about his intelligence and and wrestling skills. He's the only Chef AJ guest I will avoid from now on.
@marleri

I agree with you both^. I will avoid his channel and this chef AJ show. Because of his disparaging of his wife and the ugly stuff on his channel. I saw one video on his channel about him telling a nurse why he won't divorce his wife. And another supporting Andrew Tate who was arrested for rape and sex trafficking women. The energy he projects is negative. I don't like it. I don't think he's a healthy influence for me. I can just go directly to McDougall and Esselstyn, Dr Klaper, pcrm exam room podcast with Neal Barnard MD, Dr Goldhammer, Lisle PhD, etc. to get this healthy dietary and lifestyle information.
