@@BoisDArcKikos - I care for a disabled woman (wheelchair bound) who still wants to homestead - she wants to get some goats for clearing the underbrush in the forest we live in. I think she wants to get Spanish goats. Says they need nothing but a LGD to watch over them. I feel they will need *some* care. Do you have any insights to share? They will not be my goats, and I'm not keen on having to care for them, but once they get here, I know I'll step up to the plate.
@BoisDArcKikos
@BoisDArcKikos 3 жыл бұрын
She’s pretty much right. Just make sure you have a good fence. Spanish goats are pretty hardy too.

Hi Josh, with leaving the bags open do you have a problem with the varmints getting into the feed? Thank you for explaining about flushing the goats. I have only seen this done with a sheep channel I watch. Thank you for sharing! Hugs and love to you and your family. ❤️✝🤗 Have a beautiful and blessed week. God Bless ❤️✝🤗

We don’t have problems with that. We put a heavy pallet on to of the bag so that helps. Hopefully we will get a grain buggy. Thanks for watching

Good information! We have been feeding our does/bucks every other day some grain along with pasture...we want to breed in December, so we have April kids...so should we up the feed to daily 2 weeks before breeding as well? Also loved seeing Cowboy's Dad out there...Cowboy is just a great lgd...very very pleased with him!

I have a question if you don't mind. I have limited acreage and can't rotate effectively but to help control parasites would a dry lot with good hay and grain as needed work as basically nothing on the ground to eat? Thanks. Great goats and operation you have.
@BoisDArcKikos
@BoisDArcKikos 3 жыл бұрын
Yea that would work too. Dry lot with good hay and feed will most definitely flush them before breeding. Thanks for watching

@@BoisDArcKikos Dumb city woman here - are you saying that it is a mixture of chopped up corn (stocks or heads of corn?) and fermented oats? Trying to figure out how I could make it. Don't know who would have it in my area.
@BoisDArcKikos
@BoisDArcKikos 3 жыл бұрын
Heads of corn and rolled oats. We also add black sunflower seeds to it ourselves

On average, when one of your doe's produce only a single kid, is there a significant difference in growth rate vs one having twins or triplets?

Do you do anything for your bucks to prep them for breeding? Copper bolus, vaccine boosters, feed changes? I'm new to goats this year andcill be getting a few kikos in a couple weeks. We also have LaManchas I'll be breeding in the Fall.

@BoisDArcKikos
