I don't mean to be rude but sorghum and other grains are only staple foods in areas that can't afford to have meat. Of course now people in First World countries think that eating like a peasant is a good idea and are willing to pay a premium for it. We live in crazy times.

I have been growing Sorghum Bi-Color originally sourced from White Buffalo Trading Co seeds for the past two years. I have since found a wild example in a park that I have saved seeds. My usual variety is 8-10ft tall. The wild variety only grows to 3ft but has a lower yield per plant allowing for more plants and easier to harvest. You will also want to look for grain sorghum seed unless you plan to press the stalks to make syrup like from the Sugar Drip variety or need the biomass of the fodder varieties.

About finding red sorghum. It's something I'm not sure of except for the fact that it has grown in my yard due to stray grains from feeding the chickens what is called 'hen scratch' (aka chicken scratch). Not all scratch blends of grain are the same, however, but if you have ever seen it grow (looks like a short corn plant except it doesn't produce ears. Instead the grains form where the corn tassels would be). It's easy to grow (except not where I live because, like corn, the plant loves quite warm weather).

Can you make a video on chicken breast? Why are we against clean meat from a health standpoint? 100gr of chicken contains almost the same amount of sat. fat as oatmeal, while most nuts contain 6x the amount in that range lol. Obviously it's not a good comparison, but most people easy eat 100gr of nuts, while 600gr of chicken is already a good bit of nutrientdense food. Aren't we made to consume nutrientdense foods?
@darkelwin023 жыл бұрын
Would be an interesting video. As for the last question, no, not as dense as animal products. humans did evolve to thrive of roots and nuts they roasted, that are more nutrient dense than regular fruit and uncooked veggies, but by far not as dense as animal products (remember, 1g of fat has 9x as much energy as 1g of sugar). I would advice against chicken breast or any animal product because of AGE content, but I have seen Greger going beyond that, pointing out how certain animal proteins are harmful etc.
@Bankai903 жыл бұрын
@@darkelwin02 I agree. Most longliving societies thrived on roots and tubers, not that many greens tho. I often wonder if the decay of a lot of vegans comes from all the pesticides sprayed on the greens while they live of these juices or from malnutrition. And yea fat is obviously higher kcal, but we still talk about a total intake of 2.5k a day lets say. We don't eat 5kg of broccoli to get our nutrients xd, our bodies aren't designed to get in that much food. You'd get basically same amount of kcal in with like 500gr broccoli(raw) as with 100gr of chicken breast, but almost 5x more aminos from the meat besides like 2 nutrients like c or k which would be high in veggies. There's not much more fat in there as it is in oatmeal. Nuts also contain way less minerals compared to meat in the same weight, while giving double the kcal. That's why combining greens and meats seems like a good idea when it comes to getting all nutrient components. The only thing playing a role here could be too much protein, which also seems to be correlated with disease. Beans etc provide less nutrition, but are higher in carbs and lower in proteins while still giving kcal. Which might be beneficial if we restrict protein. Most healthy societies were 80%carb+, but the minor amounts of meats, fish, greens, nuts seem to play a role here. I mean just eating a piece of liver once every 2 weeks would severly enchance bodyfunction from mineral content (if grassfed and grasscut)

@dungysphincter79743 жыл бұрын
Fiber, like ludicrous one said, and the Omega 3 oil in walnuts is good for brain health as well. Everything you get from animal meat can be gotten from plants. Not everything you get from plants you can get from meat. Your body uses almost everything from plants. Your body cannot use all the different types of proteins in meat. Plus you consume animal hormones, antibodies and other nasties from animal meats. Meat is not particularly good for your microbiome. Nuts feed your microbiome from the indigestible fiber they contain as well. Organic / Non GMO is the only way to go with eating plants.
@ddpwe52693 жыл бұрын
Why eat something that is only going to kill you in the end? Unless of course your animal product intake is at ~5%, but even then with our current availability of food it makes no sense to be consuming animal products, period. There's a reason why all research showing a reduction in ailments has all been plants. Nothing has been shown that animal products are healthy, by any stretch of the imagination. We eat them for taste, nothing else.
