Been watching those ole boys some time now, and they have their act together. Buy majority of the material they cut from landscape companies, and tree arborist who cut dying trees, and trees into power lines. If they didn't buy them, then typically they would be going into landfills to rot away, and wasting the lumber altogether.. Which serves no purpose whatsoever to anyone, and at least now the lumber is used by someone to build a variety of different projects. Nice to see local businesses working together to help support one another. Keep the money local to help local economy I say .

Been there Nuts hit porcelain insulator in the sawmills and cutting timber never a good thing. Costs time money and in some cases someone gets hurt. When teeth start flying in the mill when they hit metal or insulator people scattered. Lost more chains on my saw in the stem when I am falling timber because of hitting something like that. Thank you for the video and keep up the good work and stay warm and safe out there.

Nice video. I recently went to an old winddriven mill. They have a huge stock under water and where cutting some elms wood into 2 inch boards. It is a classic bandsaw that cut the whole tree at once. Seriously interesting to watch.

A circular mill is far better in Pine than a band, but it's not cost effective to own both.
@ishure8849
@ishure8849 2 жыл бұрын
G'day Nut Job, I've been subbed to these boys for a few years because I can relate to circular blade mills, wide kerf vertical band mills work on the Australian hardest of all woods as do vertical circular mills, when running a swing blade mill down under you can go as deep as you can in the vertical position in one pass but in the horizontal three to four inches max or you get up and down movement due to not all of the wood dust being able to exit the cut due to the lack of gravity, Horizontal band saws suffer from the same problem here but its much worse because it causes friction then the band heats up causing it to stretch and this creates up and down motion like the waves on the sea as you described which translates to the cut, This is scientifically proven Creswick school of forestry. Anyway if you'd like some 1x10's out of Red Ironbark that I'll gaurantee for fifty years you pay the shipping and they're yours 👍.

Great explanation of detail sawdust motion. ( I always thought your problems of sawdust collection down under was because gravity was running in the opposite direction.)
