The phone image is more crisp and has better colours, and that phone cameras are not that good. A Samsung or Pixel phone will give you much better results and no issues with the Auto Focusing.

Thank you for the comparison...BUT 4 months later in this quarantine man! the webcam on my laptop stopped working.... after your video i went to the play store and digged a little and If anyone needs to use their phone a s a webcam in this quarantine for ZOOM Skype school work and meetings with your computer... try. Iriun 4k works within all platforms. Win/Mac Android/ AppleIOS I was able to pair with no OBS a macbook pro with my note 10 plus...ITS PLUG AND PLAY dont have to download OBS and search for IP addresses and none of that.. its just flawless. I was able to use the USB and connects easily and there is not lagging..... good luck everyone and thanxs man!

It kinda looks like your webcam lens is dirty or smudged....or maybe the focus is not working eight? Either way, it looks like the c922 is a softer image. I personally use Droidcam OBS with my LG V40 and it gives me a really good 1080p image. I just don't wanna spend 100 bucks on something I already have a 5 dollar option for xD I might get the Brio if I want a really good webcam. What do you think of the Brio?

Ooof two years later finally got my 6S plus replaced with a 13 Pro, now can finally use EpocCam

If you make it here and have an iPhone there is an app called EpocCam (free) and EpocCam HD ($.799 on time fee) that works with zero delay. The free version does come with draw backs smaller resolution and ads on the screen but as far as I understand that's it the app still works fine for streaming. The HD version has manual focus, dual camera support, audio support, can connect via WiFi, USB, and NDI and has full HD support. I have both versions and have streamed with them and I can say they are worth it to cut out that audio delay most apps come with.

I think I found out why there is lag, it has nothing to do with CamOn or the phone, once it goes through OBS the lag is there, is there any way to get rid of the lag with OBS or is there a better program? I've found that you can simply just not use OBS, but than you cannot apply effects to the video. I supposed you could apply color effects through the phone or use lights. something is wrong with OBS

I'm trying to find a good setup to attach my Android (backup phone) on the top of the monitor, but couldn't find a decent supprt to have it in a similar position of a regular webcam. I particularly prefer the higher FPS alternative, but honestly, for Google Meet/Teams/Zoom calls, the 30FPS looks ok. Thanks for sharing.

iVcam seems pretty good for this too and works on Android and iOS. It's 10 bucks though. They have some cool other apps too, like virtual cameras and sound cards, if you happen to have uses for those. Haven't used it myself, but seemed pretty good.

ivcam worked at first, so i bought it. used phone as webcam for hours. Then I added as a source in OBS and every time it froze my machine. spent a day tryin to trouble shoot it, worked great until you try to use it for streaming webcam.

Hey, why don't you use a usb to improve latecy while using the phone as a webcam? Just plug the USB cable and turn your android device to usb tethering to share internet connection. This way you just get a local IP address from your phone to your PC.

I tried the Media Source option and got nothing. I can get Browser option working but really want to use the mic as well. Everyone's just bought out camera's to work from home or whatever and even the budget options are expensive or unavailable right now.

Another option to try is obs.ninja (that's the website URL). That allows you to use your phone as a webcam with audio without *any* downloads whatsoever. Haven't done a video on it since it was just recently released, but check that out.

Simply unable to get rid of the delay.. Otherwise, my old Moto G works wayyy better than my webcam, rn. Only if it could take usb tethered input!! Why wifi!!? Nice video... but... PLEASE... give Droidcam OBS (Android) and/or Iriun Webcam a chance. The first one integrates the smartphone cam directly into OBS as source. The second application starts a virtual webcam driver. You can connect the phone via cable or Wifi and both options work very well, almost without delay. In DroidCam OBS I can bring everything to a bitrate of 12.000, 60 fps and 1080p. But the developer is working on it and wants to add 4K video, the use of multiple cameras and more.

Another alternative that is great: If you or your parents have an old dusty *miniDV camcorder* or any kind of camcorder, you can connect this to your computer via an *Analog-to-Hdmi converter.* Converters cost as low as 20$ for a cheap model... but your camcorder's video quality should still make it look extra pretty.
