I did this back in 2012 when I had a garage based streaming setup and had to bring a truck in. I just a took a still from the cam before though. Didn't really think to do much else with it.

This is a very cool alternative to a true DSLR camera for sure. I personally am not a fan of green screens being used all the time, but I get the desire to want to blur a background, get that depth of field and all. Neat trick all the same! Thanks for your guys' constant hard work!

Have only watched 2 of your videos so far but the speed is just right and the explanations are on point. Just the right ammount of detail. Slow enough for me to understand and fast enough for me to avoid pushing that juicy fast forward buttom. I can always rewind if i missed something and i love that you get that. Hi people talking about needing a green screen. All you need is a single color blanket or sheet to key out. It doesn't need to be a "greenscreen". Green is only used because its very vibrant and not found in skin tones so you will never accidentally key out ur face. If you have a blanket or towel that is one color you can achieve this. PSA: Watch your GPU usage when using the Blur filter. It uses far more than you would expect.

By far the best channel ive found to help...hate really saying newer streamer trying to grow(by no means ashamed) but feel like that statement comes off well needy but not only have many of these videos taught me good knowledgeable things but the more i watch the more my own creative juices start and thats just as valuable as any video content provided....provided feels wrong there but anyway...full disclosure i started out through twitchs mobile app broadcasting mobile games and actually started on youtube but still so small and ben a little vacated for sometime i rushed into a poor laptop trying to rush into a better looking stream without putting in any real research and you know that story ends on failure the laptop just had no chance even just try to stream my mobile through it.. and i forget if it was during this video or on the one currently playing on my smart tv but you were talking about being willing to fail and i at least with my experience have almost a greater feel of pride or something like that that is coming with every time i knock something off a check list and there still a big list to go but thanks to the channel i have a better feel for what i want moving forward and more importantly what i need...sorry for the life story my ocd built up from my smartv only marathon of watching this channel(my tv doesnt let me comment while watching)

You can also do this, admittedly not free but it's also not expensive, in real time with no green screen using the Xsplit Vcam software. It works pretty well!

Ive mentioned this a few times on stream and its never noticed. The more expensive C922 Pro Stream webcam has a built in chroma cam. It is not perfect but doesnt require a physical green screen. While the green screen effect looks pretty ragged, it has a background blur effect that actually looks amazing.

@Christian William most of the older dslr cameras will take amazing pictures but aren't good for streaming because you can damage them by overworking the motor during long streams. I use a $1000 mirrorless camera for streaming and it looks amazing!

So as a IT professional and a mild mannered streamer I can kinda answer why we dont get better web cams. The reason is pretty simple. Companies like Cisco and huddle are the major players and most web cams are used for conference rooms and so on. Huddle cams are awesome but expensive Cisco well its Cisco. Maybe with covid and more remote work and learning there will be more options and affordable options coming soon.

I don't get why you're all riled up about the green screen. Ofc I'd rather it be just software, but a green screen doesn't need to be green, or a specific material. Just find any cotton curtain in a solid main color such as blue or green(which is preferrable) and use some PVC piping to make a tiny stand that you can easily disassemble. There you go, assembled in 5 minutes and works just as good.

green bedsheet, poles, empty water container, ducktape, lizard sun lamp with white led and part of a trashbag to soften light hanging off a hook in the ceiling. homemade isnt great but you CAN figure it out if you really desire it

the redragon gw800 is pog, I got it a week ago and is surprisingly good, but if you are super bright or the lighting is harsh you won't look good, so my advice is to actually point you lights away haha

Y'all are so funny. I love this channel. The only issue is that I use a REAL operating system, called (Ubuntu) Linux. Thus, there are 20 extra steps----none of that i-Nonsense or executable Windows thingamagigee files. This was good, but those of us using OBS in Linux will continue to roam around in the wilderness , alone, and figure it out on our own. I like the trick, though. A yelling, crazy Harris and broom already made my day.

I have a c920 - I use an old school method of using a tiny amount of vaseline on the outer rim of the lens. ( Having cool stuff in the background, well, can't help with that but ... ) This creates a blur/glow effect depending on how you apply it. Just keep the main subject (You) clear. Photographers/Filmmakers have been doing this forever. It's quick, cheap and effective :) PS - No, It doesn't hurt your cam.

If you have access to nvidia broadcast then you can do what he says in this video. Of course, you would also need access to an RTX GPU. One last tip, use your android phone as webcam with droidcam which is supported by nvidia broadcast. Hope this helps.

thank you and your friend i was able to tweak my room in photoshop using blur..and divinci resolve RGB lights..came out perfect....i just feel sorry for anyone with no prior knowledge ...im a producer so i knew alot about photoshop and sony vegas... so using divinci was not to hard ..but yes your video helped out alot no doubt...and i subscribed months ago....
