With game streaming from Twitch, KZbin gaming, and Mixer taking off and work from home, distance learning, zoom, microsoft teams, discord video calling, and google hangouts increasing in usage due to the current situation in the world, there has been an a problem with good USB webcams, capture cards, and cameras being able to stay in stock. And if they do manage to stay in stock, their prices get inflated, gouged, or are just more expensive than they use to be. While our previous video on using a phone as webcam only focused on its use with OBS Studio and the NDI plugin, this time we look at iVcam and how it can be used for ANY of the above mentioned services. This proves to be a simple solution for anyone with a windows computer and a cell phone/mobile phone, especially if you have a spare one you can use. This is compatible with any android phone or tablet, or apple iphone or ios device like an ipad too.

I like your attitude towards teaching tech. In this case you take the time to show us what you are pushing and pressing as far as settings, links and downloads. Then you also explained the settings to us in a way that you did not come across like you were "Mr. Know It All" and I like that because I am considered a person who knows a lot about tech in my family, and they rely on me for good information but, seriously man tech move's at lightning speed and I can't always stay caught up so, I hate these KZbinrs that seem to talk down to you while titling their videos "For Beginners" then they instruct you through the video as if you should all ready know what they are doing. So, Thank You and know that you are helping many of us get through a very unstable time in the world. Honestly, I don't know that even if webcam prices come down that I will buy one after learning this technique. Also, I liked the 720 version better than the 1080 IMO.

Dam your back with a usefull video.I been using iv cam for streaming. I use usb connected and I cant notice any lag or delay. I also have a rtx voice for gtx card update. The application work good if your not streaming. But when you start streaming rtx voice straight up lag and unusable.

I’m using it, the free downgrades to 480p 16fps after. Also the settings keep resetting, but still cheap 15$ webcam use after finding my old phone and a case. I’ll be making a video soon on this.

Ah didnt know ivcam was limited to one connected device per computer. The NDI phone method should help solve that. If you're having issues with OBS NDI, its likely firewall related or the phone isnt on 5ghz AC wifi for best results. We have a FAQ video on NDI. Good amount of things that can be tried to get it working easily.

@@CoalitionGaming Thanks so much for your continuous response, you def have a new subscriber I checked the boxes in the firewall i allowed media streaming i disabled every other network adapter except the local connection i disabled ipV6 i made sure my display color is not RGB i have uninstalled and reinstalled i have literally tried anything and everything i can find Yet i still get the same result, black screen with the little red dot on the top left and even when i fit to screen it still gives a black screen Funny thing is it was working perfectly fine until my PC crashed few days ago and had to reinstall everything

I explain in this video that it is extra steps to use the phone's mic as a mic source in OBS, meaning that by default if you do this method to use your phone as a camera...you aren't using it's mic if you're following the steps outlined in the video. So if you follow the steps, you are just adding a video source and not a mic source, and are free to use any mic you want. Same as I did, since i was using my BM-800 mic via XLR interface.

I have a question... My pc is connected to lan and the phone is connected via wifi... I'm pretty sure we're on the same network as the ip for pc is (6) and ip for the phone is (7) however for some reason phone and pc doesn't coneect unless I go to wifi connection. Have you encountered this?

That sounds like the normal way most people would do this, and the way I do it too. PC on LAN, phone on wifi. Make sure "Media Streaming" is enabled on the PC. Should clear it up. You can also try restarting your router. If your phone is on a guest wifi you've set up, take it off and put it on the main wifi too.

Hmm, the camera seems to have some weird strobelike effect when I'm using this app(I guess it's a frequency thing but I don't want to go higher than 30 FPS), guess I'll keep searching for the right product.

Hi This is a very useful video. I turned off the firewall of my Labtop first. Then, I installed the iVcam client in my Window 10 Labtop. And then installed the iVCam apps in my Android Phone. I plugged the cable and then select option at the cell phone. However, it is still not connected. The USB driver should be fine. Otherwise, I would not able to connect the phone to the labtop and I could see all the directories of the phone at the labtop (and do file transfer). Please advise. Thanks

Hey, great video and works great at home over secure WiFi but I can't get my WiFi camcorders or my phone to connect to my laptop when using a public wifi network with no password or browser login. I have a solution using a travel router as a repeater but is it the only way? I am streaming sports from my club and the wifi is good but would direct connection to the router with my laptop solve my connection issue with the camera or would I still need to set up a layer with the travel repeater? Would really like to know, also I bought a cheap option for the travel router but what would you recommend for budget and mid range?

Make sure OBS is unblocked in the windows firewall. If there are any restrictions on the network since it's public, it could affect the connectivity and likely the reason you cant get them to work. Everything together on its own router that the computer is also on would be the best solution I think. No idea on travel routers though. Best of luck.

@@CoalitionGaming firewall is fine and have streamed on the public network but not connected to cameras over WiFi seen elsewhere this was not possible. What would recommend as the best way to set up a dedicated network for this, to be honest I'm learning as I go and this is all new so any help really is much appreciated. Side note your previous tutorials on obs and ndi cameras are what got me to start my project of live streaming for lawn bowls in erland so thanks a million for how far you have got me so far

Can I use MULTIPLE cell phones for different angles? I'm a music teacher, and I want to have multiple simultaneous angles, with sound synced and no lag. I have 3 old cell phones, and I want to use each one for a different angle, while making the sound "as one" to prevent echoing.

I'm not sure with this tool. You'd have to try it. With the other solution I have, you can. Just make sure the phones are on 5ghz wireless AC wifi for best results. Check our channel page, it's the most popular vid we have so should be easy to find.

NDI may not be on the Google play store but it's definitely available. I've Google searched it and downloaded an apk within 2 mins. It's not hard at all. I can't speak for those other softwares you mentioned, never used them. Good luck.

This program does not do the streaming, it makes the phone act as a webcam in programs like OBS Studio which that is the program that streams to youtube or wherever else you designate. Im hearing this program has a free trial though, which when that ends I guess it acts differently. Just buy it to restore the shown functionality.
