Im a professional Muso in Australia and I use the Xvive I have at least 4 guitars I use on stage and swapping between instruments is so easy. Though I agree with your comment that its one more thing to go wrong, what about the other side of the coin when you want to tell the drummer something while playing or any other member of the band and you start tripping over your cables with the other members and one gets a hum. 3 of us use a wireless system and our sound mixer couldnt be happier. Ive tried the Nux and you are right it colours the tone I dont want extra Gain or top end. Value for money go for the Xvive. As for looseness I have 4 different input places ( Strat, Tele, Red Special and Acoustic) all work brilliantly PS I dont work for Xvive just an honest comment

tried both.. nux are better with less capacitance.. xvive did cut some mid and treble (little bit muffled sound).. I used nux b2 couple time in different club (that has wifi router) and xp no interference with clear sound..

Have you guys ever heard of velcro pads? A simple 3/4” circle pad will get you going.

That's better than my 3-day 3M painter's tape idea probably. I use duct tape and painter's tape for everything. However, maybe velcro adhesive might be hard on a guitar finish.

Thank you for this review. Was almost about to buy the NUX because of the lack of a big transmitter unit (who wants to bring another thing to a gig). The fact that the unit could fall out while you move around was the death sentence for my purchase. Not to mention the big picture analysis of adding another point of failure. Really looking for something small, simple, and reliable. Hopefully soon.

You mention not wanting to have another point of failure In my experience stepping on cables and reefing/yanking/tangling represents way more possible points of failure I ordered Xvives last night so I guess I’ll see Thanks for the review
@DHRME6 жыл бұрын
They're really good, so you should be fine, But here's my thinking: Wireless points of failure: 1. Out of battery 2. Poor fit 3. Misplace one of 2 pieces 4. Channel conflicts 5. Internal electronics issues 6. Range Cables points of failures: 1. Internal damage 2. Yanking 3. Tangling (doesn't necessarily mean it'll fail) Still think cables win. Would be wise to carry a spare cable around anyway!

I like the Nux as it has a lower profile, and on a Strat that means the tremolo doesn't hit it when I let it go. There was a slight increase in treble owing to the Nux having more frequency range, but I just lowered the treble on my Lonestar ever so slightly to compensate. I do not have the fit issues you experienced and I wondered if your jack socket is showing a little wear? The build quality of the Nux is what sold me over the Rowin and the Xvive and I've had no operational issues with it so far. Thanks for the comparison.

good review man, I just had an idea, when u say at the end that getting carried away can make them fall out. simple solution, get velcro tape and cut a small square, stick one side on the transmitter and one side on the guitar. Velcro tape is a great DIY way of creating modular systems...for example, a Bose s1 pro with an audio interface stuck to it, also stuck to it are a usb hub, powerbank and an iPhone running a loop app. and now a Xvive U2 receiver after watching this review

I've used the NUXB for plenty of live gigs without a hitch. When charged up for a gig i never turn them off and 5hrs later they work as good as when I first plugged them in. The transmitter never fell out. I know my channel is 3 to avoid the two wireless mics in the band. Setting a channel is easy. The channel lights blink if there is interference. When you set both channels to 3 with a slider to mark them they are a steady light.A very quality unit with great sound transmittance. I want to try this set between two Bose L1 compacts to cut another cable! Anybody ever try or thought of doing that to daisy chain powered speakers this way?

I realised that my Xvive probably wasn't going to stand up to the rigors of life so I did two things. Firstly, I made a short cable (150mm) with a right angle jack on one end and a 1/4 mono socket on the other. I plug my receiver into the socket, the jack into the input of my pedal board then slide the receiver under the pedal board out of harms way. Next I went to the local builders supply and bought a little pouch that a builder would use to hang on his belt to put a cell phone in, think Batman's utility belt :-) (They're readily available). I cable tied the pouch onto my guitar strap down at the end (where you'd expect :-), then I cut a round hole in the bottom of the pouch just big enough to slide the Xvive transmitter's jack through. Next I made another short patch cable like the first one. I plug the socket into the transmitter and the jack into the guitar. Now both units are completely out of harms way. Simple, and you don't have that stupid transmitter flapping about. I've been using this setup for over 18 months without ANY issues and the units look as good as the day I bought them. They have never let me down. However I would say, as an early adopter and now long time user that the battery life is starting to tail off. I used to get a solid 6 hours of playing, now I get 4 hours. As you can't easily replace the batteries (if at all) I guess these unit will realistically last 3 years before they need replacing. You get what you pay for eh.

the lose fit could and probably is a wornout output jack on your guitar , but I also say use a cable , I have had both of these and on stage they were both a disaster , constant cut outs because of wifi internet from 100s of mobile phones in front of me and the orders for food and drinks were also done on the wifi. 2.4ghz is hopeless

cebu events violinist I think it's just the build quality, the button is very cheap and didn't feel like it's firm at all. Maybe taping over the button might help? ☹️
@rhiwderinraytube5 жыл бұрын
Yes they work. BUT you can NOT replace the batteries when they fail, so may end up expensive. If you forget to charge them fully before a gig then you cannot put in a pair of AAA batteries like the old style ones, so you will have to revert to a guitar lead. Battery life will deteriorate over time reducing playing time. They also work on Bluetooth wi-fi frequency and may be overpowered by other signals or you mobile phone signal may be lost. They are reasonably noisy with 50/60 cycle hum as they are not shielded. You pay your money but they are not the best system out there.

Been using the Xvive for two years, Zero problems at numerous gigs. Far more realiable than cables which get stood on and pulled out of amp etc by a crazy singer. Plus I only had to set up the channel select once when I first bought them ... never since. My Bass player has a wireless system too with zero problems with conflicts between the two. Sound quality is spot on and relable. My question is, did you actually try to gig these??

Hey. This comment is 4 years old now. Wondered how long your xvive U2 have lasted in this time? A lot of reviews I've read recently have said they don't last beyond a year and you've quoted they're fine after 2 years! So how are they after 6 years? 😂

I've never had an issue in live application with any wireless system where the channel was concerned. Of course I've never been in a band where multiple wireless systems were being employed. But there is a simple fix to this is to assign fixed channels to each band member. You just set it and forget it. Plus you're forgetting about the likelihood of a bandmate accidentally stepping on your cable and potentially damaging said cable or even the output jack of your guitar. This is why I hate cables. They're fine if you're just sitting still and practicing, but cables hinder your performance as far as where you can or cannot go on stage.
@DHRME6 жыл бұрын
I see your point Brett. And yes that's what I meant about the fit - a poor fit also means your performance takes a hit. And somehow when someone steps on a cable, that seems clear and apparent whereas if a wireless system conks out, the problem just seems that much more hidden. To each her own, I guess! Thanks for commenting, stay subscribed.

In my opinion and in my experience XVive U2 is a good wireless system, no interference, no audible latency, good performance of both batteries (trasmitter work a few minutes less) and perfect suitable to my guitars (Gibson SG and Fender Stratocaster). The signal remains clear and strong, without tone modification. In a blind test, no difference between jack cable (Klotz, Proel etc) ad XVive..same feeling! For me a bargain!

Boa tarde DHRME, paz e bem!
