@@ScottUhlMusic it definitely gets my vote as the best wifi based guitar wireless. For radio based instrument or mic wireless i think the Shure axient still is king imho. For iem the Audio Technica 3000 series gets my vote as it's Abit more affordable then the previous summit gear the Lectrosonics duet or Shure psm 900/1000 and covers more bandwidth.

Scott, Thanks for giving us your great videos, some topped with pineapple pizza. Seriously, you are unique. Particularly in your delivery, you are a master of public speaking in that you speak clearly, concisely, and it is a pleasure to hear you speak. There are always smooth flowing sentences with virtually never an ugh, err, or umm. Truly remarkable. You are always thoroughly researched and knowledgeable on your subject, and if you don’t know something you are honest about that. And you even followup with answers in future videos. Very impressive. You may want to consider expanding your career into something that can use this amazing speaking ability that you have, if you ever want to move on from that love of making music and performing that we, your fans, all have. Best of luck and thanks again for helping us.

I was recently considering upgrading to wireless for my guitar, and this video was just right on the spot for me! You really clarify very well what can work, and what can't work, with special note on "if you have a particular case/gear, I can't have the answer for you". That is gold, very well explained. Just like organizing a dinner at home for friends, Pineapple Pizza might not be of everyone's taste, so either you risk it (which it's not that much of a risk as returns exist) or you get a high end food that everyone loves (and even then, it might not work for Metallica). Loved the video, loved how well you went through it, massive congrats for your Bahamas show, that looks amazing, and new sub here! Keep up with the good work!

I watched your video on all the wireless systems and decided to try the Lekato 5.8 GHz black case and woodgrain case and the Swiff 900 MHz with the intent of running my keyboard into our PA. At the first practice with them I let our lead guitar player and bass player try them and they were so popular I haven’t been able to try them with my keyboard yet. The bass player tried all three and could hear a difference in the brightness of his tone between the Lekato and Swiff units. The Swiff unit made his Carvin 5-string bass sound brighter than he liked, so he preferred the Lekato units. Our lead guitar player plays a private stock PRS Hollowbody II and runs the Lekato system to his Deluxe Reverb with his humbuckers and the Swiff unit with the piezo output to his Rivera acoustic amp. It sounds amazing and has never dropped out despite competing with wireless microphones in the PA system. The battery life in all the units have exceeded expectations. We can get through two practices before needing to recharge the wireless systems. I’ve had my wireless units for about 6 months with no decline in performance. Our lead guitar player has a wireless unit he paid $350 for a year and a half ago and after a year the battery life showed declining charge life. He keeps claiming he’s going to buy some units like mine, but hasn’t gotten around to it yet. Maybe I should not let him use mine, so he will buy his own and I can try mine with my keyboard like i originally intended. I’m going to try the cheap in ear monitor you discussed in your video next. Thanks for doing such a thorough job in your videos!

My first wireless is the Swiff one. I think it is awesome. For me, what I've learnt is that running the battery flat, reduces it's life rapidly. So if I play for 5hrs, I need 7hrs battery life.

I got the Amoon based on your video. It's great. Two problems (not really problems given the price point): a little noisy and it does a power save thing where it stops transmitting after no signal for a few seconds and doesn't turn on fast enough to grab the attack on the first note when you start again. As long as the song doesn't do a lot of long pauses, it doesn't really become an issue.
@ScottUhlMusic Жыл бұрын
Dude, THANK YOU for saying “not really problems given the price point.” Seriously, I see so many comments who want these $50 to have the features and quality of the $500 systems. I did find this video useful and I rarely get the chance to say that. Very accurate, very clear and very realistic about the pricing. I've been looking at these new cheap - there weren't any cheap ones a few years ago - wireless systems with some mistrust but apparently they do work, I don't gig a lot but cables in a small apartment are a pain, so I might just get one (or two, as I see your advice fitting for the frequencies available in case I do have to gig) and always have a cable if everything else fails. Thank you.

Hey Scott. great video as usual. Very informative. Just ordered the Phenyx Pro PTG-12 as I needed something to go between my multi effect foot pedal and my guitar. I already have the Phenyx Pro PTM-11 IEM system and love it. The PTG-11 wouldn't work since the receiver would have to sit on the floor next to my multi-effect pedal and I didn't want that. It's not here yet but I'll follow up after I've had a little time to work with it. I like that fact that BOTH the PTM-11 and PTG-12 avoid the 2.4 Ghz. band.

I added a extension TRS female to male to move the transmitter to my strap. I did experience a few drop outs when my brother added cheap wireless in ear on 5. 8hz. I am trying to find more options for stereo setup. I would buy a better one if I could find one. I have an old Nady 201 ch. Recently I've tried a Swiff/Lekato WS-70. No trouble with the transmission or latency, but I've experienced a severe tone loss. Both the treble frequencies and input gain dropped down, and I couldn't compensate in my multifx to get the same tone that I was used to. There was some weird gate effect that ruined my sustain as well. I've returned the WS-70 and I'm trying to get another wireless system. Maybe a got a defective unity? Or this sort of behavior is common in cheap wireless systems? I'm really not a tone snob, I just need something that doesn't mess too much with my tone. What cheap unity you recommend for that?
@ScottUhlMusic Жыл бұрын
My advice that I give in this video is what I recommend: Accept that it’s possible that your cheap one won’t work with your setup, return it if it doesn’t work and try another one. If you don’t want to risk that anymore, save up the money and get a nice Shure/sennheiser wireless system.

Also i have Lekato 5.8ghz which is also really great and problem free for me so far. Lekato SW-70 on the other hand wasn't a great experience, it has audible sound difference from cable and other wireless units (kinda muddy sound), dropouts and picking attack/compression isues. I've been using the Lekato WS-60 for IEMs (with a Behringer P1) and they have been great. The FOH guy at the show relieved when I said 2.4GHz, as they could have interfered with their antennas that operated on the MHz range. I have yet to test them in very crowded small clubs. Hope I don't get interferences in my ears while singing or a show could go as bad as asking for pineapple pizza in Italy. I could be safe though by connecting the transmitter to a personal mixer on my pedalboard, thus keeping it close.

I have been using a Lekato wS-50 with my Acoustic Guitar on gigs, and with my Strat Type Guitar when rehearsing with the band. No problems at all. Last week I used it with a Strat on a gig, and also no problems. I wanted to buy a second set, and started looking at the Lekato WS-70 (same as the Swift unit?) which operates on the UHF band, but some reviews mentioned tone changing, volume drop, and worse, a hiss sound. I can live with the first two negative points but hissing sound is a no no to me, so I went for the newer Lekato WS-90 which also operates in the 5.8GHz band, and it is on its way to me right now. I know, I know, I now have two systems on the same frequency 😮😟 will see. I will also have a look at the WS-100. I believe it operates also in the UHF band? Thanks for the video. @@ScottUhlMusic I did, thank you. I do agree with most of what you say, and all of it is very good advice as always. I also make a living playing music, and as I am also interested in electronics, I always try to build my own effect pedals, switchers, Midi adapters (cable and bluetooth) etc. My setup uses already some wireless devices. For example, I have a digital mixer, connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi router. My main guitar pedalboard sends Midi over BLE (Low Energy Bluetooth on 2.4GHz) to control my other guitar's pedalboard. This second pedalboard communicates with my Mixer to Switch the mixer's effects (Delay, chorus and Reverb) on my acoustic guitar and second electric guitar channels. This uses another device I developed to control the digital mixer over WiFi from my main board. Again 2.4GHz. Until now all this works very well since a couple years. 😎 As you can see it would be a very bad idea to buy wireless Systems for my setup that use the 2.4GHz band. I have a quite cheap in ear monitor system that works in the UHF band, and it has a few channels. It works well. And all this was the reason I did bet on the 5.8GHz wireless for the guitars. Currently I have only the Lekato WS-50 which I use on my Acoustic guitar. I want another one for my Strat. I do have an old AKG UHF wireless guitar system that stopped being allowed where I live, but now, after a few years it is allowed again, but it is unusable together with my in ear monitor device. I get a lot if interference even if I can select a few different channels on the monitor system. And this means that, as you also mentioned in your videos, having loads of channels doesn't mean you can use many different systems in the same band. The separation of the channels in the UHF band seems to be quite narrow. This means that two different systems might need to be set a few channels apart from each other. In reality, we can only use a few devices together, even with expensive units. They also tend to hiss a bit, that is why some units mute the audio when the signal level is under a certain threshold. Just like a noise gate. My in ear system does this. Two units on 5.8GHz shouldn't be a problem. Will test when the WS-90 arrives. 😎😉 Sorry about the long answer, I thought you might find it interesting. Keep up the good work. Much appreciated. Thank you.

Great video, I really like your reviews and recommendations. I use the Swift Audio UHF wireless and they work great; I’m in Canada and the UHF frequency band is legal to use here - and so is pineapple pizza 😋

Amazing video Scott! Your cheap wireless videos are so in-depth and so well structured, I tell my musician friends to watch your vids if they're planning to go wireless. I may have a silly question though; if 2.4Hz is the least reliable, and 5.8Hz is better, but still prone to issues, wouldn't it make sense to just stick to 900Hz to be on the safer side?
@ScottUhlMusic Жыл бұрын
Thanks! And it ALL depends on the environment. Some places 2.4 will be crowded, others will have 900 crowded. It truly depends.

I have the Lekato 5.8Ghz and love em, they work with all my 6 guitars a bass and an electro acoustic, I do only use them at home/studio as I no longer gig but after years of twisted cables that myself and band mates would walk/trip over constantly, Ive found them a god send. I had a pair of lekato 2.4ghz previously that lasted 2 years and then the micro usb charging port gave up the ghost, I just wish they would use USB -C charging ports.

Hi! I'm starting play electric violin solo with a getaria 5.8 in small places and close to the receiver and works fine but I'm affraid to start playing in big places and crowded. If I play solo walking far from the receiver is enough with the getaria 5.8 or I need another system? I'm thinking about shure blx. Thank you for asking!! Excuse my english, I'm a mexican girl 😊
@ScottUhlMusic8 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching! Wireless all depends on where you are performing and how crowded the wireless signal is there. The blx will definitely be a more reliable system. I do have my full buying guide in this video if that helps: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpqVe5aDpNKdh5Isi=N2Nvejp0Jsxs4DHu

I had the Amoons, they were great @ home. 3ft from my router everyday. never once droped a signal. but the on/off swith went after about 9 mo. and soon thereafter the reciever swelled up and split the case. still probably got my moneys worth.

Yeah, at that price, even for a few months I think it’s a good deal. My ammoon is still going strong. Just let another guitar player borrow it about 2 weeks ago and it’s working great

I have the joyo and I noticed when I do palm mutes, there's these weird digital(?) Sounding over tones. I've noticed it through the pod go and through my analog pedal board(minus a digital preamp). Do you notice this with any of these? It works great aside from that but it's definitely a deal breaker, I can't unhear it now. Only way I can dial it out is to crank my noise gate but then it cuts off everything else. I troubleshot my entire chain, including any other electronics in my room and the joyo wireless was the culprit.

Tech question: If I want to run 3 different guitars into a passive switchbox (cord from switch box "out" to tuner "in" on pedalboard) can I use just one wireless for the 3 guitars or will I need 3 separate wireless units? The switchbox has 3 input jacks 1 inch between jacks, so would that cause a problem? I'm hoping to get away with using one wireless for all 3 guitars but idk if the connection would be interupted when i remove the dongle from one guitar jack to another guitar jack. I play mostly on outdoor stages either in a amphitheater or under a large tent. Any advice please?
@ScottUhlMusic Жыл бұрын
You can use multiple guitars with one wireless system by switching which guitar has the transmitter 👍 some of these cheaper ones will “pop” where as other Shure/sennheiser ones have a mute switch to prevent that
@artmaze9 ай бұрын
Thanks for the ideas on wireless! I've never actually tried Pineapple pizza but I/m sure it has something to do with the saltiness of the cheese and the sweet&sour taste of the pineapple. I remember while we lived on Hawaii, locals sprinkled salt on their pineapples to activate the flavor.
