The power of the headband depends on the source. But the Manga and Game made it different. Where the #1 doesn't give you a sort of immortality or longer lifespan.

The purpose of the headbands is that they work like the dragonballs. Gather all 100 and they grant you any single wish, the villain literally explains this and Afro himself makes a wish at the final scene to free the trapped souls. Also, the #1 headband is implied to give the wearer immortality.

It’s worse than that. In the manga, Afro didn’t WANT to kill the lid, but the years of battle have honed his body to the point he is in a permanent state of Ultra Instinct. He’s the opposite of Tolkein elves. Battle is the ONLY thing he CAN’T die from.
