1.The best part about Thorfinn's arc is that its not even over. My personal favorite arcs of the manga are yet to come. 2.Keep in mind that Thors was so strong in his prime that Thorkell just up and gave up on challenging him. 3. Askeladd was a bastard, but one you couldn't help but respect by the end. Hell, even Thorfinn ends up having mixed feelings about the guy by the end of season 2.

Every anime has a "Kenpachi" character, the lord of battle who breaks all the rules. But my man Thorkel is different, because even though he is a complete monster and a true Viking killing machine, he is actually the friendliest character in the whole damn show. This man respects and loves his enemies so completely because they will give him the chance to find Valhalla, the only thing he disrespects is traitors or cowards. I've never seen the badass character also be so jovial before, and I love him for it. God I hope we see him more in season 3.

Also the fact that he'd have more mass and, due to the size difference, more muscle mass. In a armed melee, there are five key points: Mass Strength Reach Skill Stamina. As long as you outclass your opponent in at least three of these, you'll probably come out on top, Thorkell outclassed people in mass, reach strength and skill, only reason he wouldn't in stamina is because that size and muscle mass would come at the disadvantage of a massively increased caloric intake.

So since CJ mentioned that Thorkell the Tall was real, I’ll throw out another Viking who was real, and was a massive menace to society, Rollo. So the story goes like this: the king of france is tired of Paris getting sacked every few months by the Vikings who sail down the river and waltz into the city. But none of his soldiers can stop them so he needs to hire someone who can actually stop the Vikings, so he hires the greatest Viking of that time: Rollo. In order to hire him, The king of France basically gives all of northern France to Rollo, on the grounds that he defend it, and that he converts to Christianity. Rollo agrees and converts, and to celebrate his conversion he executes 100 prisoners. Rollo was massively successful and him and his descendants would build the duchy of Normandy into a military power house. Here is where the real menace to society would begin: Rollo’s lineage. Rollo’s family would go on to capture and rule the legendary city of Antioch in the Middle East, most of Ireland, the kingdom of Sicily, and of course conquer England. So this man pulled a thorkell and joined thr losing side, and then his descendants would conquer and rule multiple kingdoms all around Europe and the middle east

tbh imo what Nux says about Askeladd in terms of fighting strength is Wrong. not only was askeladd descended from LITERAL KINGS (or according to his mom) but he was able to outsmart Thorfinn outsmart Thors outsmart Thorkell but also “coach” (i say that in terms of Thorfinn having to rely on what very little he DID teach Thorfinn ever) against Snake (who was apart of the Miklagard (or the Varangian Guard THE BEST FIGHTERS OF THE BYZANTINE EMPIRE) to keep up with Snake. and THORFINN HELD BACK (yes while keeping to his own and Askeladd’s “teachings” but Still.
