geodude only knows tackle and defense curl, so butterfree can setup harden on it fairly easy so it can sweep through onix

That could work, but it depends on how many tackles Geodude does. Even with +6 defense, onixs rock tomb can still do about 1/3 hp, so that’s not an insignificant amount

@@danielmonachino7165 any pokemon is good against the elite 4. For casual playthroughs you can use any pokemon you want as the games are really easy. Omastar is arguably the better pokemon though, especially competitively as it is actually ranked UU.

Funny enough I sort of did this challenge myself a couple weeks ago. I decided to keep my "original six" for as long as I could, so I went half of the game with a Charmeleon, Raticate, Butterfree, Beedrill, Pidgeotto and Nidoking. We coincided because I gave Psychic to my Butterfree and Brick break to my Beedrill, and they are absolute beasts. They have paper thin defense and HP but since they are fast they can deal a lot of damage.

Considering you could have ground Pikachu encounters until you found one with a light ball, you could have made Pikachu much better until Celadon city. Doubling special attack makes Pikachu amazing in the early game. Thunder shock and then shock wave become much better. Misty would have heen a breeze.

I'd like to suggest one I did and failed miserably at, I did it in Emerald. You can only use each ball once, you have to retrieve the ball and use it as soon as it's available. The Pokeball is automatically used for your starter sorry, but like you immediately have to buy a Premier Ball and use it to catch something

I hadn't played fire red, but on my copy of red I could walk thru the elite 4 with just a lvl 100 Beedrill. I recall a lvl 80 Pigeot as well. Over leveling will get you there, eventually.

Shocky badge profit? 4) bugs beat Erika 5) sleep the lead, agility on beedrill and sweep against Sabrina 6) psychic spam on butterfree clears koga 7) surfing chu sweeps blaine 8) giga drain and surfing chu defeats gio 9) e4 goes down to the squad because of plot armor and good vibes 😎

My favorite move on butterfree is dream eater. With a 95% accurate sleep powder dream eater basically becomes a free psychic replacement so you don't have to use the TM. Just don't run into too many hypnos or primeapes and you're golden 😂

Technically you made it unnecessary difficult for yourself. You never truly stated which version of the Viridian Forest you were going to use. Even if you showed the Gen 3 Kanto remakes and they are the most difficult ones. In all other versions you could also use at least a Pidgeot.

Fun video! Your movesets could have been modified to help you out a bit. Raichu should have Brick Break or Seismic Toss so you don’t get shut down by Rock Types. I did like your choice of Rain Dance and Thunder tho. Also Butterfree learns the TM for Dream Eater. Works amazing with Sleep Powder, hits slightly harder than Psychic, and heals you.

Brick break would have been ok for rock types, but since most of them have high defense, I felt that giga drain, which you get just a bit later, was a better choice. But dream eater was one I considered having for the elite 4, but I also decided against that.

You got luckier then you realize with the Twisted Spoon. Compound Eyes only has a chance of increasing the hold item on a Pokemon in Emerald and later. It doesnt have that effect in Ruby, Sapphire, Fire Red or Leaf Green.

Playing the same atm- (I allow hm workers though-) And I'm in lavender. So far it's a fun back and forth of who is the strongest (Pikachu pre evos, then butterfree till I got to secret power where it became beedril which is the best rock counter in the flash tunnel, due to brick break which then got replaced with butterfree again once I tracked back for dreameater, just to then be replaced by Pikachu once it got tbolt) Lt surge was for me the biggest hrudle so far cause my strat was dig Pikachu and the dig turn gave raichu the operturnity for double double teams which then got into a sweep of my team.

I got an idea for a nuzlock. Typical nuzlock rules but heres a twist. Hgss but pre E-4 to E'4 only johto pokemon. Post E-4/Kanto arc only Kanto mons. 2nd E-4 run only hoenn mons. After that to Red, only sinnoh mons. With this run, it would be ridiculous with all the grinding needed to win.
