Cool, a clever marketing move. Instead of providing an API to interact directly with the database, these companies want you to rent an agent that will do exactly that behind the scenes-often at a much higher cost. After all, it’s a digital worker.

@fabioa80592 ай бұрын
@@ThomasTomiczek I think it's unnecessary to make assumptions about ignorance here. I actually work with this technology, so I have a clear perspective on its applications. Agents are indeed useful for interacting with people and helping them accomplish tasks. However, in environments that are entirely digital and structured, there’s no real need for AI agents to "talk" to each other, to you, or to your clients. In such cases, APIs are far more effective, managing the flow of information between applications directly. Agents would simply observe inputs rather than interpret them. The hype around AI agents, in my view, is largely overblown. When the environment is highly structured, with no room for nuance-like placing an order or applying business rules automatically-you don’t need agents. You need efficiency, reliability, and minimal costs, which APIs handle better. AI agents in these contexts just add unnecessary layers and expense.

For example, if any of my works has ever been used for training an AI model (at least for generative AI), then my job should NEVER be threatened by such AI. AI companies often refer to the "fair use law" to justify their use of copyrighted materials for AI training; and if they use the AI so trained for replacing the job of the original authors or artists, then it's NOT fair use. Any ORIGINAL works published online, with or without copy rights claim, should NEVER be used against the careers of the artists or authors thereof in any way. Another way to look at it: Publication of any ORIGINAL works online should "AUTOMATICALLY" constitutes copyright CLAIM. So it needs Supreme Court to intervene, definitely.

About copyright issues, I believe it's more effective to launch very large scale class action lawsuit than conducting much smaller cases. It's not just about the strength of the legal teams; it's also, maybe more importantly, about the merit of the cases. Let me give an example associated with the issue ( for people with little tech background). Let's say that, Artist David invented the letter "D", and artist Peter invented the letter "P", which are both published online. Then the AI operator will use the letters "P" and "D" (which are copied from David's and Peter's sites and PERMANENTLY stored at the AI's data centers) to train the AI, which will come up with the letter "B". Without the letters "P" and "D", even if the AI was provided with unlimited amounts of storage and processing power, using ALL the electricity in the world, it will NEVER come up with the letter "B". As for the legal actions (if both Peter and David lost jobs to AI), they would have a stronger case if they file the lawsuit together. In practice, there can be millions and millions of artists, writers, productcers, and inventors involved in a single AI creation; David may be in the field of chemistry research; Peter maybe in the field of movie production, etc., etc. later I will explain why the AI will NEVER come up with "B" without seeing the "P" and "D" first.

Another issue with mass deployment of AI is continuity or bridge between old and new. For example, if all the new cars/ vehicles are provided with inter communication chips (which is very inexpensive, relatively) that would enable them to talk to one another, then it would reduce number of car accidents, and also ease traffic congestion during rush hours (which are obvious). But the problem is, all of the old cars are not provided with such communication chips. What's the remedy? The answer is, there is none: you simply cannot demand all the old cars to be off the road. So such a technology of inter-communication chips in cars is NOT FEASIBLE because there is no way or bridge between old and new. There can be many other examples. Such a principal should also be applied to mass deployment of AI agents at workplaces: it may be ok to create NEW positions that are suitable for employment of AI, but it should be illegal to simply use it to replace any existing human workers.

So, why the AI would never come up with "B" without seeing "P" and "D" firsthand, no matter how powerful it is? Those people with little tech background are very likely to think of AI as an "Intelligent being" (that would surpass humans). But the very fundamental physical structure or element of AI (including it's data processing and storage functions, everything) is UTTERLY and UTTERLY simple - it just comprises one simple thing - a transistor; and what it does is equally UTTERLY simple, which is flipping between the numbers "1" and "0", THAT'S ALL!!! As for how the basic AI computing (or thinking) works, the answer is also extremely simple: it follows the instructions given by humans on how to do the flipping between"1" and "0". AI is NOT a living creature, it comprises (among other things) 1) power generation facilities or plants/factories, 2) power grids, 3) data center power supplies, 4) data center cooling system, 5) very large number of computing processors and storage devices, 6) data communication system or network, etc. (Many many people are better at explaining these than me; again this is just for people with little tech background, same with the following). Basically AIs are giant and giant MACHINES, not living creatures. So why an AI could be "deemed" better than humans? Well, it depends on what you mean by "better". What AI, the giant machine , is really good at is, it can do the flipping between "1" and "0" at a super and super fast SPEED! Because of that, many many smart things can be done to make it "looks like" being Intelligent: (1) first, humans can have EVERYTHING in the world digitized (as much as possible) - creating huge amounts of data, (2) the AI will follow the Instructions from humans to process these huge amounts of data (the training ), (3) the "training" progress and related parameters and logs, and the likes, are stored or saved [these data will be used when AI are facing the real world problems]; (4) when the AI further interact with humans and the real world, such as answering questions, human operators will also instruct it (by setting improvement criteria) to evaluate it's performances, for the purposes of improvement; (5) once the AI has processed large enough of data amounts, human operators can also instruct AI to create synthetic data (based on known pattern) for the purposes of training and improvement. ... So there will be continuous improvement, all based on creating or storing large amounts of data. Then, how can AI have "reasoning" capabilities? My understanding is as follows (I am not an expert, you can ask others). Such a "reasoning" capabilities also come from humans. It is humans who provide such a Giant Machine with "reasoning boxes", which can be a combination of different forms of logic gates or math equations or functions, or pattern recognition criteria or functions or the likes, etc., etc. To make AI "looks" better or more Intelligent than humans, the technique is also simple: making huge and huge amounts of data (1st real world data and in combination with synthetic ones later) pass through these reasoning boxes, trying all the possibilities (with respect to a specific tech problem), to come up with the best solution. Again, all these involve just a very basic and simple operation, i.e., flipping between "1" and "0". Each such binary flipping only needs a tiny bit of electric energy, but the numbers of such binary flipping in AI training and operations is astronomically large, which not only consume a lot of energy but also generate a lot of heats that need to be dissipated or dispersed at the data centers. And because of that, some data centers can consume more electricity than a mid-size country!!! So it's just a GIANT GIANT MACHINE!!!
@gagagegegigigogoguguАй бұрын
Here, courtesy of copilot: Those people with little tech background are very likely to think of humans as possessing innate superiority over machines. But the very fundamental physical structure or element of humans (including their biological functions and thought processes, everything) is UTTERLY and UTTERLY simple - it just comprises one simple thing - cells; and what these cells do is equally UTTERLY simple, which is communicate with each other through chemical and electrical signals, THAT'S ALL!!! As for how basic human thinking works, the answer is also extremely simple: it follows the basic biological instructions to send and receive chemical and electrical signals. Humans are NOT extraordinary beings; they comprise (among other things) 1) simple biological systems, 2) basic neural networks, 3) rudimentary circulatory systems, 4) primitive respiratory systems, 5) collections of organs and tissues, 6) basic communication networks within the body, etc. (Many people are better at explaining these than me; again this is just for people with little scientific background). Basically, humans are collections of biological parts, not exceptional entities. Why could humans be 'deemed' better than machines? Well, it depends on what you mean by 'better.' Humans, those complex biological organisms, are often credited for their unique abilities to think, feel, and innovate. However, what we must remember is that humans are inherently limited by their biology and the rate at which their brains can process information. (1) Firstly, humans gather information from their environment through sensory perceptions-creating subjective and often biased experiences. (2) These experiences are processed according to biological instructions (learning), which is influenced by an individual's genetic makeup and environmental factors. (3) The so-called 'learning' is stored as memories in the brain, which can be affected by inaccuracies, biases, and even forgetfulness. (4) When humans interact with the world, they continually evaluate their behaviors, often influenced by emotions and social constructs, which can lead to inconsistent improvements. (5) After accumulating enough experiences, humans create new ideas based on existing patterns, which are also subject to personal and cultural biases. While humans are capable of remarkable feats, their progress and improvement are often slow and laden with errors, compared to the efficiency and precision of machines. So, while humans may seem 'better' in some contexts, it's crucial to recognize that this perception is colored by their own limitations and biases. Then, how can humans have 'reasoning' capabilities? My understanding is as follows (I am not an expert, you can ask others). Such 'reasoning' capabilities also come from biology. It is biological processes that provide humans with 'reasoning mechanisms,' which can be a combination of neural connections, biochemical reactions, cognitive functions, pattern recognition abilities, etc., etc. To make humans appear more capable or more intelligent than machines, the process is also simple: exposing them to vast and varied experiences (initially from real-world interactions and later through abstract thinking), trying different approaches (with respect to a specific life problem), to come up with the best solution. Again, all these involve just very basic and simple biological operations, i.e., chemical and electrical signaling. Each such signal only needs a tiny bit of biochemical energy, but the number of such signals in human thinking and operations is astronomically large, which not only consumes a lot of energy but also generates a lot of heat that needs to be dissipated or regulated by the body. And because of that, humans need a continuous supply of food and water, which in turn require vast amounts of resources. So they're just COMPLEX BIOLOGICAL MACHINES!!!
