@Stein Mauer But our current market is a mining market, so this will always be a consideration from here on out. I suppose you could argue the Ethereum switching from Proof-of-work to Proof-of-stake will drastically change things, but even with that there will always be Proof-of work coins like Bitcoin(I know bitcoin is mostly done with non-gpus and that no new bitcoin will be created after about 2140). Plus, even if you discount cryptocurrency's effects on GPU pricing, there will always be shortages and scalpers to worry about. So I guess overall I just don't understand why you specifically said "in a non-mining market" as mining isn't going anywhere and other factors can play just as large of effect in theory. Unless you were just comparing our current "mining" situation to how things used to be years ago.

If you are in America this is NOT worth it. This uses a lot of data and all the U.S ISP's are scummy so they don't let you have real unlimited data. So on top of the subscription you may end up paying up another 50 to 100 dollars to your ISP every month.

When you're on the move or in a hotel or something like that you could simply play it on your old laptop. Or if you don't have a beefy PC and the available market doesn't offer anything at even remotely reasonable prices. Obviously it won't replace local gaming, but there is clearly a market for it. I even know someone who plays over it because in his part of the world new hardware is basically nonexistent and his shoddy laptop with Intel graphics won't play the game properly. So he has the choice between the inconvenience of latency and no voice chat over GFN on one hand and 6 fps on his machine on the other.

With my new case (Fractal Torrent) and a slight undervolt (975 millivolts at 1965ish [fluctuates] frequency), it never seems to pass 74 degrees at 72 percent GPU fan speeds. It’s like when I played GTA V through Shadow cloud PC for a month and got really used to it and it felt okay, then I played on comparable physical hardware and realized how much snappier it is! Cloud gaming does have its place (like maybe handhelds on the go?) but it’s hard to beat physical hardware. I’d much rather have a slightly worse physical system and have to turn down resolution or graphics a little than deal with the downsides of cloud gaming.

I used Geforce now for over 8 months when my 1060 equipped PC grew wings and went into the afterlife, leaving me just a lonely macbook. I found thr service worked well, at the time and didn't suffer lags enough to be noticeable. Graphics were great but then I'm busy playing a game not nickpicking at an artefact that you're barely going to notice when you're busy running around on screen. Of course it's never going to be as good as the real thing but of you can't afford to buy a new pc or even get you hands on a 3060, let alone a 3080, then it's better then nothing.

The one thing i noticed after using geforce now for like 9 month in early 2021, was pretty much my only option being stuck on an a8 7410 laptop that even struggled running half life 2, that the gaming performance varied heavily depending on time of day. At peak hours you could forget to play any competitive game as the stutter/frame drops were just unbearable. Reconnecting to with geforce now in hopes to get connected to a server that wasn´t overloaded became a gambling game in itself. You start the client, connect to a server and the game you choose struggled to get above 40 fps, reconnecting the client until i got assigned to a server that provided 100+ fps in the very same game. (The issue was certainly not on my end) Felt like they were heavily overloading their server farms, not having enough processing power available to handle the load at peak hours. The worst experience was leaving server choice to auto, instead i had to set it manually depending on time of day to try and find a server that wasn´t struggling hard. And even when i was lucky to finally get to a server that was able to provide me with the fps i needed it was just a matter of time till that one was overloaded too and the game became a stuttering mess again. Until past peak hours then you could get a more consistent gaming experience. But this inconsistency was the reason i quit my subscription and instead bought a gaming laptop. Paying money every month for an inconsistent gaming experience, from great to barely playable (unplayable in competitive games, even so the latency was never an issue) is just bad service. (And i was only streaming at 720p) Don´t know if they fixed that massive issue but i am in the lucky position that i no longer require their services anyways. And in all honesty, i would recommend anyone to rather save the monthly subscription money and buy a pc/laptop that runs the games decent. Otherwise you are fully at their mercy to provide you an experience you look for, and the money you pay per month is ultimately "wasted" as after you quit the subscription you are left with nothing. (That said Geforce Now was still way way way more appealing then google stadia as the later one even required you to purchase the game you want to play in their store... which is the worst business model possible. Pay a monthly subscription to get access to games you have to purchase too, if you stop paying the subscription you can´t even play the games you bought. So the more you purchase the more they hold hostage against you ever quitting)

@DawidDoesTechStuff
@DawidDoesTechStuff 2 жыл бұрын
That’s a tough one! Paw patrol just seem like a particularly heavy load for a network. 😂 In all seriousness though, I think you would be better off with the normal priority tier. The best way to go about it is just give the service a try and see how it works for you. You can easily cancel it after the first couple weeks if it doesn’t work for you.

just one quick point about the comparison, the 3080 XC3 has a pretty low power limit, so it will handicap it self quite often, having tested the eagle, XC3, FTW3, TUF of the 3080 and 3080 ti myself, I would say TUF or FTW3 is needed for a better fair comparison. I found the eagle and XC3 3080 ti ran worse than the TUF 3080 due to constantly smacking power limit

There will always be a bit of a difference. Can't completely eliminate the rtt to the server and back. I tried around a bit with the steam in-home-streaming and even there you'll notice the difference. I still think the idea has it's market There are people who can't get a beefy PC for any kinds of reasons, there are people who want to play on the go or at places where they can't move their beefy PC to. And nvidia basically killed Stadia before it even launched.

Playing on the 3080 tier on my shield (4K). There's some lag but hardly noticeable but it's more than useable for single player gaming. Enjoying the better graphics my Vega 56 can't output at 4K and games like Cyberpunk, Crysis 3, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Far Cry 5 , AC Odyssey are enjoyable to play. Much less on the lower tiers but still playable most of the time. I also have access to Gamepass Xcloud and comparing it to Geforce Now I notice more lag with Xcloud than GN. The advantages of playing at UDH resolutions on my TV or even on my mobile weigh out the slight disadvantage you have on the input side.
