We don't need new gpu for games. We need BETTER OPTIMIZATION
@martineering.evoluzione14 күн бұрын
Better optimization for a better GPU and this is where even the PS5 Pro is doing the same thing. Radeon now is the 3rd league behind the Intel GPU.
@Denders-NL14 күн бұрын
This is said by someone who doesnt know what optimization means. What do you want to optimize? Optimization is basically implementing work arounds where you "trick" the player. This goes all the way back to gamedesign and how levels or situations are programmed and showed to the player. With a variety of systems these days (Xbox, PS, PC and its different configs) you are also crippling the high end systems with this that dont need it. What Nvidia does here is that they are giving you a option to show decent framerates with all bells and whistles on without compromise on the experience. They bring Path tracing experience to a whole group of gamers that can only afford a 5070. That group is huge and that group is also prob "gaming casuals". The input lag Nvidia delivers with these framerates are pretty good when you play on controller on a single player game like Alan Wake 2. For competitive gaming the developer shouldn't consider Path tracing at this moment. Because there you want responsiveness. But to get back to the point, shouting Better optimization is not really a thing when we talking about path tracing. Because its a technology where real light is simulated and how it bounces. There are not much tricks to play there without compromising on the visual outcome. The solution Nvidia has now with "fake frames" is a pretty decent one looking at the current technology available. The magic they did is actually Reflex 2. To keep the same input lag with 4x generated frames as with 1 generated frame is magic to my ears. To come to a conclusion; you asking for better optimization. Optimization in games is mostly tricking the player with certain fake situations or visuals (rasterized shadows for example, they are just a copy of all the things in the world. Just flipped and scrambled). Fake frames of DLSS 4 is almost exactly that, tricking the player for a smoother feel. So in a sense; DLSS 4 is optimization.

Why?
@Sets.15 күн бұрын
Long answer: NVIDIA's recent unveiling of the GeForce RTX 50-series, spearheaded by the RTX 5090, has generated significant interest in the tech community. Priced at $1,999, the RTX 5090 boasts advanced features, including DLSS 4 technology, and promises substantial performance enhancements over its predecessors. However, for many users, the investment may not justify the upgrade. Several factors contribute to this perspective: Marginal Performance Gains in Traditional Rendering; While NVIDIA claims the RTX 5090 offers up to twice the performance of the RTX 4090, these figures heavily rely on DLSS 4's AI-driven frame generation. In scenarios without DLSS 4, the performance improvement is more modest. For instance, in "Far Cry 6," the RTX 5090 demonstrates approximately a 27% increase over the RTX 4090, and about a 43% increase in "A Plague Tale: Requiem." Dependence on DLSS 4 for Peak Performance; DLSS 4 introduces multi-frame generation, producing up to three AI-generated frames for each rendered frame, significantly boosting frame rates. However, this technology's effectiveness depends on game support and may not be universally compatible. Additionally, some users express concerns about potential input latency and the authenticity of AI-generated frames, particularly in fast-paced gaming environments. High Power Consumption and System Requirements The RTX 5090 has a Total Board Power (TBP) of 575 watts, a notable increase from the RTX 4090's 450 watts. This escalation necessitates robust power supplies and efficient cooling solutions, potentially leading to additional expenses for system upgrades. The increased power draw also raises concerns about energy efficiency and long-term operational costs. Elevated Price Point; At $1,999, the RTX 5090 represents a significant financial commitment. For many users, especially those who already own high-end GPUs like the RTX 4090, the incremental benefits may not justify the substantial expenditure. The cost-to-performance ratio becomes a critical consideration, particularly when previous-generation GPUs continue to deliver exceptional performance in current applications. Conclusion; While the NVIDIA RTX 5090 and the 50-series GPUs introduce impressive technological advancements, including DLSS 4, the decision to upgrade should be carefully evaluated. For users with existing high-performance GPUs, the marginal gains in traditional rendering tasks, reliance on game-specific DLSS 4 support, increased power requirements, and the premium price may render the upgrade less compelling. Assessing individual needs, current system capabilities, and budget constraints is essential before committing to such an investment. (All Credits go to chat GPT)

This video features Richard Leadbetter of Digital Foundry, joining IGN to discuss the NVIDIA 50 Series GPUs and their implications for PC gaming. Key points include: 1. AI-Driven Performance: The 50 Series GPUs utilize AI technologies like DLSS 4 and multi-frame generation to achieve performance boosts, reducing reliance on traditional transistor density increases due to rising costs. 2. Latency Concerns: While AI-driven features significantly enhance frame rates, they also risk higher latency, which can affect gameplay, especially in fast-paced games. 3. Complex Performance Metrics: Richard highlights that "performance" now includes more than frame rates, as low latency remains critical for gameplay quality. 4. Impact on Handheld Devices: The technology's potential for handheld devices, such as the rumored Nintendo Switch 2, is discussed, emphasizing power efficiency and the possibility of a streamlined DLSS version for mobile platforms. 5. Future Analysis: Digital Foundry plans detailed reviews of the 50 Series GPUs to guide gamers in deciding whether to upgrade, considering the trade-offs between advancements and practical gaming needs. The GPUs mark a shift in gaming technology but come with nuanced considerations for both PC and handheld markets.

If your going for the 5090, fair play to you. As for the 5070 and 5080, one thing I will say is if you have a 4090, do not sell it if you plan to get a 5080. The 5080 has faster DDR7 vs 4090s DDR6, but the 4090 has 8GB more and a much higher bandwidth. So, if you like mods in your games, the 4090 is the way to go. The 5080 will offer more performance per watt per core, but the 4090 has way more cores on all fronts (yes, they are older gen) The 5080 will have DLSS 4, but so will the 4090. The one area the 5080 wins is with Frame Gen. It can do the 3x and 4x vs 4090s 2x. So in games that use Frame Gen, and if you like Frame Gen, the 5080 will win. Normally, I am one of the first to jump at a new gen, but not this time. These cards are great if you're with an older card now or new to getting a PC, but these cards are held up by software rather than hardware. They feel more like GPU DLC for the 4000s lol
