What a great story about Gordon visiting the Bluebell Railway - the 'real' Bluebell Railway, of course which is an hour and half drive away from my home. Hopefully, someday this year, I will able to return to the Bluebell Railway. :)

Not what I expected, I thought Gordon was teasing Stepney. But he sees the true meaning of a heritage railway. Nice story and Nice ending. Even though Stepney no longer runs due to a broken pipe. But we still love Stepney. That is actually a not-bad story👍
@NWR19914 жыл бұрын
It's more than a failed steam pipe, as said in Terrier55Stepney's video about Stepney, In order for Stepney to be restored it needs to have new parts fitted and that means getting rid of its original parts that were there since his working days such as wheels, frames, cylinders, tanks etc. The railway would not want to sacrifice all of that for the sake of running Stepney in steam and so the only option, in their eyes, is to make a replica.
@MATT2productions4 жыл бұрын
@@NWR1991 you mean the Stepney in that bluebell black livery.
@MATT2productions4 жыл бұрын
Terrier55Stepney did say that they made a replica of him to be in service and the real one as a museum piece.
@MATT2productions4 жыл бұрын
@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967 It's unlikely to have the real Stepney working again. His parts are all worn out and it will take a lot of money to give Stepney a full overhaul. Instead a replica was built.
@NWR19914 жыл бұрын
There’s no actual replica of him. It’s a more probable idea to make a replica version.

Honestly, I think it’s completely stupid that they won’t even try to fix Stepney.
@NWR19914 жыл бұрын
Stepney has parts that are very authentic from the days it was built and would require replacing if it ever gets restored in future, which is highly unlikely as to some it's like getting rid of history. On surface it may look stupid to you but deep down there is a good reason.

Brilliant episode to honor both the passing of Michael Angelis, as well as the 60th anniversary of the Bluebell Railway. I'm glad Gordon has come to realize that heritage railways are also like real railways, and I like the interaction between him and Stepney. Although, why couldn't he go to the Bluebell Railway by rail than by road?
@NWR19914 жыл бұрын
No, it was the 60th anniversary of the Railway Series. I mean the beginning of the episode after the intro was very obvious.

I'm not sure if this has been addressed before, but as much as I enjoy watching your series, one thing that has been bothering me about it lately is that every episode from 'Typical Engines' onwards always involves a character telling the other characters the story about an event that happened to him/her. Whilst I understand this was needed for the 75th anniversary, it would be nice to see more non-flashback based stories as well. Putting that aside, excellent episode and please keep up the good work!
@NWR19914 жыл бұрын
There will be a few more flashback stories, I will admit this season is relying heavily on flashbacks. But there are three non-flashback stories in the coming months, unless four since, IMO, Philip’s story is set within the present day despite it being a flash back :P But around next year there will be a mixture of flashback and non-flashback stories.

@NWR19914 жыл бұрын
Not really, the NWR is still a working railway, despite using long gone equipment but with some modernities, e.g - the Train Protection Warning System (TPWS), whereas a heritage railway are lines that recreate a certain time in the past with not much modernity, apart from machines in their workshops.
