Es genial como a pesar de ser una persona normal viviendo una pesadilla que podría costarle la vida, Ashley tiene la capacidad y el temple para preocuparse por Leon y no solo por ella, al grado de pedirle que no se acerque para no herirlo o para que no lo capturen, e incluso para pedirle que se cure él primero.

in the original game, their relationship did not arouse any emotions and suspicions, but in the remake, there is a strong chemistry between them, looks, touches, conversations. every time leon was left without ashley he was devastated, at first it looked like a failure of the mission and then it became like anguish, as if without her he was out of order and devastated. I don’t know why the developers did this, but it really looks like the birth of new feelings

Meh. I think people really read a lot into any tenderness or caring between a man and woman. While I think he cared about her beyond simply a mission checkbox, I don't think there were any deep feelings at this point at all. Could they develop? Of course! But burning brightly yet, no.
